  1. Not the game to bring a young debutant into let alone one that's coming back from a serious injury and not even had a run in the reserves.
  2. It's an error/inconsistency that a lot of managers make in these situations - they don't care about the cup enough to play their best team, but suddenly when they're losing they lose their nerve and bring on the big players. Look at Ancelloti when we knocked Chelse out of the CC... brought on Kalou and Benayoun and they both got injured. Good point. He either had to go all out for it or play the kids imho.
  3. I'm sorry but that first line is bollocks. Fluke first goal - aye, it was a deflection but you can't say they didn't deserve it nor that a goal wasn't coming. We're chasing the game - err, did we? Hit and hope - it was a very good strike from the lad. Agree that Stevenage deserved it. I'm assuming you've watched FA Cup 3rd round day before. Plenty of better teams than ours have come up against a lower team and had a tight game where they've looked shit. To be honest, it breathes a bit of fresh air into a soulless corporate Sky Sports driven sport. If it wasn't us I would have loved it. Gutted it was us, but it doesn't mean that our chances of survival are less, or that our squad is automatically shit. As things stand, I would rather have beat West Ham 5 - 0, and lost 3 -1 today, than the other way round. Of course I've watched round 3 before - what's that got to do with your shite points in your opening paragraph of the original post?
  4.     Nolan and Guthrie??? Words fail me ... Rather Nolan and Smith? I'd rather sign Rob Lee this week than play Smith next weekend.

I'm a fan of the big willi but today was his worst display in a black and white shirt. Fair do's people having a pop. I still think he's a calmer influence than Taylor but he looked absolutely fucked today and in need a spell out of the limelight.
  6. Simpson was backing off that much he nearly tripped over the fucking stewards.

  8. He'd have drawn a load of fouls etc which would've won us more set pieces but the way they were going today we could still be there now and we wouldn't score one. But....... we did score? Not from a set piece, which was the point I was making about the main difference Jonas would've mde today.

    Sunderland...

We've generally done well against teams at home who play a similar syle to Newcastle.Bolton,Stoke and Blackburn have all been beaten by us at home and they all play similar to Newcastle with big target men. The "revenge" factor also has too be taken in account, our players won't need motivating for this game after what happened last time and it will be a very intimidating atmosphere for your players. I'd hope ours wouldn't need any motivating after today either. I predict a low scoring game. First goal will probably win it.

    Alan Pardew

I'm completely fine. It's funny to me how petty this is all getting. I don't need to get over anything. I'm not the one having a pop at the guy over every single petty thing am I? Your whining about people venting opinions on a guy after the worst result in recent history. What's petty about saying he f***ed up tonight? People have been having a go about his press conferences, about talking about transfers, about not playing Ranger, about playing Lovenkrands, about playing Best ... it just goes on and on, and it's all so over the top. His selection today was bad, but it's the first time he has paired Nolan and Smith together and so I can somewhat understand him not appreciating how badly it works. I doubt he will ever do it again, if so then there will be real cause for concern. This team has a big problem, because we really can't afford to be without Tiote which is ridiculous. We need an alternative fo rwhen he is out. That is the real problem here. Every manager has had the same treatment, Hughton before him was no exception - people questioned him for all sorts and rightly so. I think the truth is that even the Pards Bummers know he's got a huge amount to prove and doesn't have the integrity for a club like ours. Oh, that and the fact he's Ashleys man. Perhaps that why everyone's a bit touchy on the criticism - hits a nerve. All of those things you listed are absolutely valid question marks by the way, so there should be no issue with discussing how he's handling them.

Pardew must've been shagging by the time that match came onto the DVD.

    Alan Pardew

We might know but clearly Pardew didn't which is understandable. It's not like he's been picking them consistently for the first team. He wanted to give some players a rest, and understandably so, but unfortunately for him he thought he could rely on Nolan and Smith agains a league 2 side. Again, you could see why he might expect them to cope. However, they are both shockingly poor players, who have proved they aren't even up to League 2 standard in the middle of the pitch. Doesn't he talk to Steve Stone? Doesn't he discuss this option with the rest of the staff?

    Steven Taylor

I'm not a fan of S Taylor at all - always nervous as fuck with him in the side but he has to come back in now.
  15. No chance. Colo, Barton and Williamson only ones who did ok. Fucking Williamson - are you having a laugh? He looked liked he'd been fucking doped man! Did what he had to do for most of the game. Not saying he was outstanding If 'doing what he had to do' involved giving possession back to them on numerous occasions, running in slow motion and being the wrong side of his man more often than not then he played a fucking blinder pal.

I've always preferred Williamson but tonight he was nothing short of dismal. I'd not noticed how bad his distribution was until tonight - though, in fairness to him and Colo, they didn't have a Tiote collecting the ball, giving an option and sweeping up which probably played a big part. Taylor will come in for the Mackem match now though, if fit and rightly so.

    Alan Pardew

Kaka - the guy has absolutely no gravitas or integrity so people who have doubts are going to air them when those doubts are reinforced. Get over it.

    Alan Pardew

The guy is just throwing stuff out there. What do you expect him to say? "Today I realised just how shit Nolan and Smith are, without Tiote holding their hands. By the time it fully registered it was too late, and unfortunately once I put him in he got a red card, so I probably shouldn't have done so" Not going to happen! Well old 'rent-a-fucking quote' might want to engage the services of Hughton in respect of PR training because from what I can see he's shooting the shit without much to back it up.
  20. A team of young'uns getting turned over would have been far more forgivable imho.
  21. Then he should have played the fresher kids and not risked them ahead of the biggest game of the season next week. There's no getting around it, he fucked this one up. Come on man, these players should have it in them to beat Stevenage even if it's the third game in a week. They are League 2! Pardew played a strong team, thinking they had enough in them to beat Stevenage and get into the next round. Not his fault they played like turboshit! They were set up totally lop-sided. Barton, our form player, switched for Routledge who's been dogshit. Not to mention Perch at LB. Shocking decisions.
  22. There's more chance of Angelina Jolie waking me up with a blow job than this getting overturned btw.

    Alan Pardew

Why did he send them out playing long ball tactics? Is that his preferred style of play from previous clubs?
