I just watched it, that's ridiculous, the guy almost cut him in half in a pre-season friendly with a terrible challenge, and Jesus gets up and quite right pushes him in the chest to say ffs don't ruin my season before it even starts, and he gets sent off for it.
-
If we cast our minds back to last year's nightmare pre-season, where we scored 3 goals in our first three games winning two of them though against the might of Gateshead and Sacremento Republic. We didn't win another game all pre-season last year. Results really do not matter right now, but this year things just seem better organised and going more to a plan, don't think McClaren even had a plan last year.

It's a great appointment for them, would be churlish to suggest otherwise. If anyone had said they would go from Fat Sam to Moyes and also has some money from compensation in the bank a year or so a go, they would have been thrilled. He will need time though, he always does, that's my only hope they become inpatient, think for sure it will be another relegation battle for them this year, this appointment does not fix that, if they stay with him and he keeps them up they could break that cycle next year.
-
Really? Do you have figures to back up that claim? Because I've spoken to quite a few fans who like our annual great escape. This was posted a few pages back, think you'd see similair results from most other sets of fans too. Enjoyed this post I can find hundreds of posts from other fans websites showing their joy at Newcastle's relegation. Does that mean Newcastle are the most boring club in the country? No, it means we are relevant !

The amount of people justifying this appointment, from the ex pros, "Sam made my fell 8ft tall", to the so called experts, to the idiot fans "Sam's done a great job at every club he's been at, much prefer him to some jolly forrin like Wenger". It's just amazing, they deserve one another to be honest, just wish it didn't effect me. Of course it won't take long before their little love in to end and the press start to fan the hate flames that'll incur. I was hoping this was just a smokescreen and someone with a clue was lined up, but obviously the FA just don't learn.

The funny thing is they have lost most of July already thanks to the FA, how prepared are the team who were prepared by a less than focused manager ? They also need to change to another person style of play. I think this whole thing shorten their odds a little on going back down.
-
Moyes has always needed time, if you remember rightly early days with Everton weren't particuarily great, even we knocked 6 past them. If they have patience though they will be rewarded, assuming there has been no lasting damage from his last two jobs.
-
Wow two free headers
-
Is that drum annoying as fuck or what ? So nice when it stops for a bit.
-
So far this is going great for us, with the FA (quite rightly) taking their time, really f***ing up the dirty Mackems preparations, could you imagine the attitude in their training camp "why bother, this guy's not going to be here much longer" and also stopping them recruit However from an Englishman's perspective to have these two be the front runners for the national job is a sad state of affairs.

It's just a plain Whie top and a plain black top, not sure what the tugging is all about ??
-
It would be a huge mistake not to add at least one CB, we lost 2, 3 if you count williamson leaving in Jan. We could get lucky with injuries, you never know but that's not the Newcastle way and we are really thin in that dept right now. I'm all for developing a partnership between Laschelles and Memba but we need more cover to get us through a championship season.
-
Yeah Moyes a great appointment for them and he would jump at the chance to get back in the game, surprised he hasn't been snapped up yet. The ideal scenario is probably for this one to play out with a long courtship then eventually the FA getting a bit of sense and employing a manager who is capable.
-
It's shocking really that a person with his record is even being considered for the role, which once upon a time was the thing all managers (at least English ones) strived towards.
-
Hell yeah, I would even say Obertan for 3 million and Colback for free !!
-
The last time we got 35 million was way more ridiculous tbh. 35million now is not the same value as 35 million back then. Aye but at the time Carroll had just scored 11 goals in half a season and was looking better with every game, Sissoko has been gash for 3 seasons. Liverpool had just gotten 50 million off Chelsea for a player who had looked far worse for a period of time. There have been plenty of crazy transfer deals over the years that would make Sissoko going for 35 million as quite reasonable. Fanny Jeffers to Arsenal for 10 million (500 years ago) anyone ?

They saw how he linked up with Payet and said "Got to have a piece of that". I will continue to make this point though, we paid next to nothing for him, he had managers of the caliber of Pardew, Carver and McClaren to oversea him, we've been a clusterfuck off the pitch. Hardly a big surprise that he went missing in certain games and that he wants to go when we've been relegated. I don't get all the hate for the guy tbh, no player consistently performs week in, week out, and despite what is being said he wasn't the reason we went down, nor was Gini. Employing manager's of McClaren's abilities, not investing in a defence or coaching them to do the fundamentals, putting square pegs in round holes and developing a culture of apathy is what sent us down. Could Sissoko have done more, sure, but so could the 20 odd others that pulled on our shirt last season. The Euros gave a wider audience to what we know and Rafa squeezed more out of him, he's a talentd player, a damn sight more so than a lot of others that have represented this club, Wayne Fereday, George Riley Frank Pingle, Andy O'Brien, Mike Williamson and Stephan Guivarch immediately spring to my mind. Rafa is capable of getting the most out of him, it's also clear he doesn't suffer fools lightly so if he is prepared to keep him then back Rafa all the way.
-
Perfect from Rafa really, he's playing the situation out the way it should be. Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he starts the Fulham game, but will be a little shocked if he's still in a Newcastle shirt come September.
-
Not if you are playing FIFA16 or something. But of course you can't do both a club job the England one at the same time in real life. It's a little unlike him to not have signed anyone yet, that to me would be a clear signal that he at least thinks he's on his way. As an Englishman that would be a truly dreadful appointment, still if Roy Hodgson and Steve McClaren can be England managers why not this complete tool ? Really the choices they've seemed to have limited themselves to because of a stupid little ingerland mentality are shocking. just offer Wenger a stack of cash, it's simple really, you want to do well in world class tournaments then hire a world class manager not a used car salesman, or whatever vocation in life these English candidates missed.

This quote makes no sense, it wasn't his choice to stay another year last year either. He had a contract. His agent may have gone begging for him to go but the ownership quite rightly said , we are not listening to offers this year but if we get an offer next year for between 15 and 20 million we'll let him go. Since then , because of his performance in the Euros (he's only got himself to blame here), his price has gone up. Of course the agent has spun that conversation to one that makes it look they have gone back on their word, when in all likelihood they haven't.
-
I'm not fan of Januzaj either, think his stock has been inflated because who he plays for, much like why we paid 3 million for Obertan ! I'm fine either way with both Gini and Sissoko, keep either or both and they will be a huge asset to the club in that division. Get big money for them, as long as that's reinvested in Rafa's choice of replacement, then great.
-
That's exactly what the bible preaches these religious types though ! It's fucking whacked and people believe in it, use it as their moral compass and tell those of us who think it's the biggest sack of shit that we are stupid and will pay the price in some fiery netherworld after we die !!
-
I have to say the thought of Crouch makes my skin crawl, but at the same time we have to remember what level we are playing at now. Signing Marlon Harewood would have made me squim just as much, the last time we were down there but he ended up chipping in some vital goals. Maybe Crouch could be an important bit part player for us, like Harewood was but I have to say, I'm not overly excited.

What happened to this deal ?
