I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if the 8 year deals handed out to Carver and Stone et al, were tied to Pardew's contract anyway and there is a clause in there that releases the cub from any financial obligation should Pardew leave on his own free will. If they have to pay out anything it will be peanuts. Like you say it should be nothing to a man of Ashley's means.

How come? I saw it as a positive personally Yeah, same here. Sounds like it definitely won't be Carver. Not at all. The comment was probably in reference to him asking about his application and they told him they will let him know by the Hull away game, if he beats Southampton on Saturday, fair chance he's got the gig at least in the short term. There have been too many hints in the press that the plan of just getting through this season then appointing the permanent man in the summer, is the one they are going with. They are still probably unsure that s*** for brains can actually keep us in the league they are giving him all the chances they can to prove himself, he's failed so far but Southampton maybe his last chance. Of course what will happen with that plan is that the guy we've targeted will go to better club who sacked their manager at the end of the season and their back ups will have found work elsewhere, leaving us with employing Carver full time, it'll last 6 months when we are bottom of the table and then Pardew will be back to save us That's not so much as a glass half empty scenario as a glass full of poison. I nominate afar as most pessimistic poster 2015. I accept your nomination

It really is that easy. People seem to think we are poor, but we just got a huge payout for the fuckwitt along with the ridiculous levels of profit we've made over the last year or two. Money speaks, I don't care what walk of life you are in.
-
I agree with this. No doubt he was popular with the first team players. He probably though didn't have time for the "less important" people at the football club.

North East football is so fucking awful right now, the highlight has been Blyth Spartans almost beating Birmingham. For the three big clubs in the area, one of them is just existing as an advertising hoarding for it's owner, another is perennially fighting to stay in the league with dull unimaginative "try not to lose" tactics. The third has been in the wasteland of the championship long enough to have been forgotten about by the majority of football fans. The people in the area deserve better than what we are served up, a lot better.

I was just about to post exactly that point. On paper it looks like a deal we should be looking to make but reality dictates that Cisse will not be replaced and the money just goes into paying Sports Direct for the Labour and materials used in placing their signage at the ground.

He's the Bloody Mary of football managers, say his name aloud too often and he'll come out of a mirror and take over your club. Sad thing is I would still prefer him to Carver

I'm hoping that we are taking our time because Southampton isn't the ideal first game for a new manager to start with, plus there is no football for us the following week either. It gives a new coach a good couple of weeks to get to know his squad. I've heard this line a lot but I believe you are all crediting the club with too much intelligence and forward planning. The reality is that the people making decisions for this football club are inept and it'll be mere chance if we stumble upon then correct appointment at the right time.

I'd rather have JFK. At least he adds humour to disaster. This. Honestly I would rather have JFK than Carver. Absolute f***ing joke. Like a few others have said that quite possibly me out for the rest of the season or until carver is gone. Ashley's intentions are quite clear if this does happen . At least JFK had some relevant experience this guy's nothing more than a kit man.

If we beat Southampton then it's all over, Carver for 8 years

Which will make the job even less desirable than it appears to be now, it's stupidity really. You have the chance to hire from a relative position of strength and low expectations, no pressure on the rest of this season, just let the new guy get his feet under the table and learn the club. Instead you give the job to an unqualified kit man.

FFS if that Journal article is true, and I'm pretty sure it is, I f***ing hate this club. 80% said they didn't want him, yet another indication how the ownership cares about the fan base's feelings. This will all end in tears if not this season, then next.

The last time we listened to the players and appointed the assistant manager after the only other time in our history where a manager has left for another club, we went down the next season. Richard Dinnis had way more claim to the job than Carver does, having done a respectable caretaker job when Gordon Lee bailed on us. Too many symmetries between then and now for my liking. And way too many pro Carver stories about

Wow ... talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth. It's just a bunch of questions, because I don't really know a lot about the guy. So far you are the only response to them.

I'm still a bit concerned about Garde tbh. I guess I need more education on him.: Why did he leave Lyon ? Why has he not been re-employed since ? Was his record at Lyon good considering the size of that club in the French league and the players he had available ? Have Lyon progressed since he left ? How come Lcazette has been so good since he left (what was restricting him under Garde) ? His CV looks extremely light, is he just a Lyon ex pro, who they kept around the club for a feel good factor (ala Peter Beardsley for us) ?

No, as i said above, that is not what he is saying at all. Of course opinion gets involved. It almost always does in legal cases. It is an opinion formed after seeing all the evidence, listening to questioning, and applying the law as exists. That's how juries work, too. That is how the legal system works. There is a massive difference between a few people discussing a legal case on a football forum, and a court of law with a judge and jury. A high court judge, a jury, having sat through the trial, having seen all the evidence, decided that Evans was guilty "beyond all reasonable doubt". As did the second judge who rejected the appeal. His comments also don't suggest it has "all come down to his personal opinion", either. He was found guilty by a jury. My point about it coming down to opinion is that there is no (as far as I'm aware) single solid piece of evidence that suggests guilt. It comes down to things like the CCTV footage which are open to individual interpretation. I'm not doubting the jury or their decision, they wouldn't have taken the task lightly, but I don't believe there's anything to suggest that the decision is 100% correct, without any doubt. It seems impossible given the evidence. If there was something I've missed then fair enough. FWIW I'm not saying that I think he's innocent, or that he shouldn't have served his sentence once found guilty. I just cannot ever be 100% sure despite the jury's verdict. i honestly can't see how you get to "reasonable doubt" when it's essentially a case of 2 people's word against each other - he said she consented, she said she doesn't remember a thing which cannot be verified but that statement in itself (plus some selected CCTV footage i guess) led a jury to decide that she was unable to consent it's lucky people don't lie i suppose, otherwise we'd need evidence and s*** And that is the key to me here. The law is clear that to be found guilty you must be proved beyond reasonable doubt. There is way too much doubt here to return a guilty verdict IMO. Not that I don't think Evans is a f***ing idiot, or indeed did commit the crime, there's just not enough evidence to prove beyond reasonable doubt he did.

I agree with this, I would question their commitment if they didn't want to come right away, ffs the dutch league is pants, the PL love it or loathe it, is globally the most popular league in the world, the chance to manage one of the few teams where even moderate success would be greeted with huge support for a vast fan base, should be motivation enough. I don't think people who live in the UK get how much bigger the PL is than any other league certainly here in North America, it's not easy to find coverage of other league games even the German or Spanish leagues biggest match ups. More people will watch Stoke versus Burnley than Real versus Barca, over here !! Anyway no need to big up the PL, they do a great job of that themselves. It's cool to be self deprecating of Newcastle but the job to manage them is still an attractive one, obviously less so than in the past but still attractive. The big issue is of course does the owner want to get the person that could push this team on, whether it's Galtier or DeBoer or whoever, money talks and releases people from contracts and softens loyalty. We've got the money but I don't think we have the will.

So are we aimlessly moving along without a new guy (unless in reality he's already been appointed and took charge of the last two games). How come it takes West Brom a mere couple of days to sort out their vacancy yet for us it's a long drawn out process.
-
Can Carver get us the 13 points we need to probably survive. From only 18 games, I doubt it. Crazy that it looks like being the only person probably worse than the last guy. He's at 7-1 now on Skybet http://www.skybet.com/football/specials/manager-specials This club stinks. And of course all we'll get from the media and other fans is that we brought this on ourselves by hounding out a good manager, just because he was a cockney. Pardew is going to look great and we'll be painted as the bad guys again.
-
This guy's fucking great
-
I know, I know, it is truly a magical day.
-
He still officially does not have a vacancy !!

Also The Ronny gill are starting to spout a lot of pro Carver stuff, like this: http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/five-burning-questions-need-answered-8371408#rlabs=5 Which is worrying, perhaps they've been given the nudge that if they start to tow the club line, they'll be allowed back in again, that's what they've been waiting for so desperately.

I don't know, my pessimistic Newcastle United will always find a way to disappoint me signs I just think Carver is way too buoyant, remember how close he was to Pardew.
