Watch them appoint Remi Garde or someone else that we found impossible to bring in mid season.
  2. He's just a terrible footballer, a nothing of a player that seems to keep getting picked by 2 managers now, stupid really.
  3. Just saw the game, never a red, terrible decision by the ref, everton players reaction got him sent off for what was at most a yellow. Now we are really fucked in defence, lol.
  4. Better than Carver though !!! Which is our benchmark now

I honestly thought when he was given the role to the end of the season that he had to make the top 10 target to get the job full time, but I'm starting to agree with the majority now that he's got it whatever happens, there is just zero evidence pointing in the direction that the club are even planning to look outside in the summer.
  6. No chance Martinez will be sacked. Everton just did too well last year for that to happen. Mirrors very much our time with Pardew, following on from the 5th place, we had a teribad league campaign but got to the 1/4 finals in Europe. They'll survive more comfortably than we did that time and he has enough in the bank with the chairman to be given more time. Next year will be more interesting though, because if he continues with the way he was at Wigan, then I can't see the Everton fans standing for it, he'll be out before Christmas, especially if he follows that Wigan pattern of starting very slowly in the league. Can't really work Martinez out, last year looked like he was one of the best managers in the league, looked like he had been crippled all these years with Wigan's small budget. But this year looks like he's back to the manager we saw at Wigan, just surviving on runs a great form at the end of a season.
  7. Not sure if I want us to win or lose this one. On the lose side, this would be another and possibly terminal dent in Carver's chances of getting the gig full time. But on the win side of things, of our remaining games this is probably our best chance as it's at home against one of the relegation teams at the moment, if we don't win this one it's going to be tough to see where the points are coming from to keep us up.
  8. To be honest, I think Villa could have appointed anyone (bar John Carver) and that would have been enough to keep them up, which is surely the priority here. Long term planning can wait for now, it's all about survival for them right now. Anyway just getting someone else in to replace the stale Lambert and bring in a sense of purpose to their football club, should do the job. Watch Benteke start to bang them in again now, and Sherwood will be classed as a genius when really it's much like the situation we had when Roeder replaced Souness.

This would be a good protest idea tbf. Yep if someone locally could work with a supplier that produces this kind of thing change the colours to black and white and the words Newcastle United Premier League Participants. Surely practically everyone, even those that sat on their hands while the SackPardew folks did their best to effect change, would be prepared to wear them to a game. It's a subtle yet powerful message, not offensive in any form that would warrant any kind of confiscation from the club.
  10. The name that was on everyone's lips. These are the types of people that probably applied for our job, hence why I believe them when they said they had 80 serious applicants for the role. There are tons of former managers and coaches that have just disappeared that you would probably not want within a hundred miles of the job, like Grant, Curbs, John Gregory, David O'Leary, Paul Jewell and John fucking Carver !!
  11. The fact that he is so obviously not good enough anymore, yet remains by a country mile our best CB, is hugely worrying.
  12. Strikes me as someone who would have been a Nightclub Bouncer had he not had football talent.
  13. If it is McLaren they are waiting on and he does get them promoted, like others have said, not a given he'll want to leave them. If he doesn't then why are we interested in a man who can't do what the likes of Chris Hughton, Nigel Pearson, Steve Bruce, Shaun Dyache and Mick McMackem have done.

It's unlikely that we'll go down, but wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if we go on a run of form which creates a certain level of anxiety from now on in. We are playing like a team that is going through the motions and that's a dangerous game to play. We are 10 points clear right now with a lot of teams between us and the bottom three so it would be a huge shock to see us get dragged into it.

I think they set the success criteria for Carver in their statement that the target was still 10th. I don't think they will give it to him full time unless he gets at the very least close to that. The way it looks right now, that's not looking very likely especially with the upcoming fixture list.
  16. That sacking has probably saved Villa's PL lives, they'll bring someone else in who will give them the new manager bounce and get enough points to be safe I'm sure. They are still not a great team but better than some of the utter crap at the bottom of the league.
  17. What an awful game of football that was, clearly with these two managers in place it wasn't going to be a classic but that was just lifeless football. That crap will drive people away from the game.
  18. I want that now TBH. I don't think it would affect attendances that much, but obviously it would further reduce the importance of match-going fans in terms of finance. Don't really see how that would benefit anything. Apart from the armchair fan that isn't really that bothered... People who can't get to all the games I assume. The NBA etc already have it. I pay for NFL Sunday ticket every year, as I live in Calgary and my NFL team is Miami. It cost $50 a month for the ridiculously short regular NFL season of 4 months, so comes out at around $200. They have blackouts to protect attendances for local games I believe.
  19. I have an 18 month son, my daughter is 11 and has no interest in sport whatsover, so handing down my football passion flows to him. I've been trying to ingrain Newcastle United on him, he's even pointing to crest on the shirts I wear and saying "cassell". My mum sent him a full kit for Christmas. It's more difficult for me to ensure he becomes a Newcastle fan being across the pond. I really couldn't bear the thought of him growing up following the likes of Man City/United or Arsenal/Chelsea however what kind of parent does that make me ? Why should I subject him to the hurt and continual disappointment of following such a non event as NUFC is, all because his father was born and bred in the city.
  20. The sad thing is there are so many people now that have never seen us win a trophy, and unlikely to before they die !! I technically have I was a month old when we won the fairs cup, but I don't remember a thing about that feeling unsurprisingly enough The closest I've come to enjoying that feeling of success, is the 92/93 1st division (as it then was) championship, that feeling against when Kelly and Cole scored against Grimsby, and that final home game where we beat Leicester 7-1, with Queen's "we are the champions" belting out was fantastic. The other championship wasn't anywhere near that level of euphoria as we shouldn't have been relegated in the first place, so the feeling was more of relief that we were back up more than anything else.

Unfortunately, as Roeder proved, it's not that difficult to be successful in the short term, in this type of situation. Our ownership are so football un-intelligent to understand that it's a completely different job when you are expected to plan for a full season, balance your squad, stop being the players friend and identify how and where you need to improve. These tasks are not required in the short stint that Carver has to "prove himself", unfortunately if he reaches the target they've set (top 10), no way in hell he won't get the job imo now. And there is a good chance he can get that, with so much crap at the bottom of the table this year.

The vibes coming down from the Chronicle are bad. I remember them basically saying there was no chance of him getting the job permanently when they confirmed he was caretaker for the rest of the season. Now more and more of there articles hint he's got a very good chance of getting the permanent gig. This one kind of makes it out that it's his to lose http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-10m-better-after-8567187 We need a change, I don't care even if we get into the top 6 under him this season, we need that change as a club, even if we have success this season it would just mirror the Roeder situation, where the guy did well short term but should never have been given the job after the season was over.
  23. That's a strange time to resign. Wonder is there was some falling out about the transfer window, sounded like the owner said he spent enough in the summer and it was up to the coaching staff to coach and motivate the team. Probably didn't go down well with Redknapp and he probably wanted another player or two.
  24. Hull Tigers is a game we really should be winning, we need to get points in the bag as fast as possible as our fixture list toughens up in later weeks. I don't think we will lose this one, but I can't see us winning either. A draw would be my guess, which will be just one of many against the weaker teams in the league under charva, I can see us getting the points we need to stay up from one win and a bunch of draws.
  25. No matter how bad the Football is yes, relegation no. I'm sure they'd be stupid enough to leave someone in charge to the point where it becomes a risk, but they won't just sit their and happily drop down a division. They proved they're s*** scared of dropping down again when they brought forward transfers last time there was a threat of going down. Also I don't think they'll ever give a coach a 8 year contract again. That's the only crumb of confidence I have in us staying in the division under Charver. But when will their tipping point come ? When we are in the bottom three or if we are hovering above it with games running out.
