Not everyone will leave., like last time some will stay. Cisse is probably the least likely though of that bunch. MYM has been pretty poor in general as has Debuchy since joining us, Marv is always injured and there won't be too many clubs chasing Gouff. I mean, yes, Cisse is the most ridiculous, but Debuchy and MYM will want to be in the France squad man. Marveaux and Gouffran are more debatable, but I'm sure there'd be plenty of Fulham-esque teams sniffing around, or even options abroad, either back to France or one of those lovely Turkish clubs, and most importantly, we would probably try and sell them both to get them off the books asap. Anyway, this is not a fun topic, so I'm out. Debuchy and MYM are locked into long term deals here, we are in no need to sell (unless they have a relegation clause in their contracts). Which PL team would take either of them based on their performance this season, bearing in mind Ashley wouldn't take a considerable loss on them ? French teams could be interested but outside of PSG have no freaking money. A loan back to France is the best Debuchy could hope for, for MYM maybe there will be other suitors but they'll have to meet Ashley's price first. Cisse like I said is more debatable, but we'll want at least our money back for a 28 year old striker who has not been the player he was at the tail end of last year. It's all about the market for him, German clubs could come sniffing and some mid table PL clubs too but unless the meet the valuation, we may feel we need a striker to get out of that division too much to make it worth our while.

True, so if someone comes in with a 5 million or so bid for him, do we cut our losses and try to get most of our money back, or hold onto him, hoping he settles and becomes worth a lot more following promotion ?

So you think he's been a success ? 8 Million quid remember for a player who doesn't seem to have a position.

So who stays and who goes if we go down ? Here's my list: Stay Elliot MYM (maybe, depends how desperate we are for cash) Taylor Perch Debuchy Joans Gouffran Cisse (not sure there will be a market for him at the price we would be willing to take) Williamson (yipee ) Gosling Marv (we need the numbers in the squad) Shola (probably get another extension ) Sammy Bigi Go Krul (there will be no shortage of suitors) Santon (italian clubs will take him back in a heartbeat) Cabaye (PSG or some other CL club) HBA (as Krul) Tiote (despite his form this year, someone will think they would be getting a bargain from us) Sissoko (done enough in this half season with us for other PL clubs to be fighting over him in the summer) Colo (back to Argentina whether we go down or not) Anita (back to Holland for a cut price after failing here, probably happen even if we stay up) Did I miss anybody ?

it's amazing how irrelevant the Chronicle has become. I remember always excited to read what they had to say, even when Oliver continued to toe the party line for Freddie, they still had something worthwhile reading about. Now it's just pointless, fluff, don't rock the boat articles that do little to inform or help fans get to the meat of any issues. Their whole "lets get united, we'll pull no punches in our analysis after we are safe" is just nauseating.

It's gonna be like that for the next 3 weeks or in the unlikely event that we win a game. It's one of those situations where you know it's bad for you but you can't help going over it over and over again.
  9. If you think we are safe, first of all congratulations because you have a hell of a lot more faith in the team than I do, but also I get where you are coming from that waiting till it's all over will give us more choice. But also understand Mick's point, if you think we are safe then what harm is it leaving it to Carver for 3 games ?

if Wigan beat Brom we are in serious s***, if they get a point and beat Swansea, that also might be too much for us.

I wanted to put 10 or 9 because of sheer panic right now but reality is that it's still very much in our own hands and we are just one win away from being safe IMO, so I'm going for an 8. After next Tuesday we should have a better idea, by then Wigan will have played their game in hand, if we are still 5 points ahead of them by then I'll be pretty confident of staying up.
  12. I voted to keep him because I think the whole thing about him having lost the support of the players is probably bullshit and we have left it too late to replace him now. If he goes now then we will have Carver till the end of the season. I don't think Carver would get us playing any better, but it could possibly make things worse. I think he should be replaced in the summer though. To be honest, I'm not sure whether I have spectacularly misinterpreted the question, because I do want him out, just not with only three games to go. I was expecting a few of the 33 to go down the line of "Too late to change anything now", I would point to the Mackems though to an example of why you should. If the new guy won 2 of 3 in the honeymoon period, like Di Facisto did then we would be playing PL football next season. However I do agree, that putting Carver in charge for those last 3 games would be suicidal. If we make a change we need a new man in place ASAP, just like the Mackems did.
  13. I started off hating the decision to bring this guy in, then he slowly won me over but since the woeful November run I've been pretty much anti Pardew. I could however understand people wanting to stick with him up until April, but the defeats at Man Shitty, against the Mackems, 2nd half versus Brom and of course the Liverpool game, I find it extremely hard to get my head around anyone who has any kind of affection for the club wanting to give this guy anymore time.
  14. It would be interesting to hear what rationale any of the 33 have for keeping the guy, come on mods lets name and shame them, I'm sure you could if you wanted too

Bollocks, NUFC never just turn up and get a result, even when everything is in our favour. It's just not our way of doing things. Pardew will set us up not to lose and Loic Remy will score the winning goal in a 1-0 loss.

But then wonder what would have happened if Cisse hadn't scored the late winner against Fulham, and if we hadn't got the late equalizer at Wigan. You'd have 35, they'd have 34. You truly would be shitting your pants. Still can't see them getting the six points they need - or even five - and I think you'll win at least one more game this season. Difference there is that Cisse's goal was perfectly legal. Bad refereeing decisions has cost us dearly this season, especially towards the end. The Wigan game is the prime example, we can also factor in the Cisse goal that was wrongly ruled out against the mackems, that would have put the game at 1-1 and it would have been a different game from there on. But the Wigan game is proving to be the most crucial game this season and we were clearly cheated in that match by terrible officiating.
  17. Don't think we'll get any favours from Carroll, Nolan or Fat Sam this weekend, they'll all love to stick one to the ownership.
  18. The retard will most certainly set us up to try not to lose, which will mean we will concede early on and be chasing the game with the wrong personnel on the pitch of course.
  19. The club and fans don't deserve it. But that's not the way football works, if it were based on those factors teams like ourselves would be challenging for honours every year and the likes of Wigan and QPR would be nowhere near the PL. Unfortunately our league form over the entire season has put us into this mess and if we finish in the bottom three we'll absolutely deserve it, although had the officials done their job properly at what has turned out in the end to be the most crucial game of our season Wigan away, we would be at least 3 points closer to safety and probably be safe now.
  20. Can we have a new poll to determine if the 33 who voted no are all Mackem lurkers or Ian W has 33 different accounts on here ?

Wow down to 17th then, the games against Sunderland, Man City and Liverpool, combining for a -13 GD could easily send us down.
  22. Poyet is a good shout. Honestly don't fucking care as long as it's someone (with the exception of a Souness or Roeder type appointment).

    Alan Pardew

They are not going to fucking sack him, people in the match day thread saying crap like "I hope Liverpool knock 6 or 7 past us, so Pardew will have to be sacked" were fucking stupid, all those six goals did was mean we are now a point further from safety. The relationship Pardew has with the owner and MD is too solid for even relegation to dent, the only way he'll be sack is if we begin next year struggling in the championship.

The goal difference we just gave up puts me at at 9, the only hope we have is that wigan or villa don't get to 37 pets because we are incapable of getting another point this season.
