  1. At least we didn't lose this one, it was a tough game against an in form team, but we should have expected a bit more from the lads. The penalty could have changed the whole game obviously. But looking on the bright side, we've pulled away a little more from both the 2nd and 3rd (as well as Boro) after this set of midweek games. Got to beat Bristol at the weekend though, they don't seem to travel very well so we've got to be pretty confident about getting the win. October's Schedule looks pretty kind to us outside the trip to Sheff Utd, we've got a chance to cement our place at the top of the table.
  2. You can't afford to miss penalties no matter how shit this league is. Seriously had Guthrie ever took one before ? Surely Nolan would have been the logical choice, with shola out.
  3. QPR's form has obviously picked up of late, I've not being paying much attention to them but they've shot up the the table. Will be a tough one, but we've got to be pretty confident of getting the 3 points again. A win puts us in an extremely strong position with another very winnable game coming up on Saturday.
  4. The hate is subdued because of the score. His shitness is almost charming when the game is won. lol
  5. Disgusting, that end IYAM. Mark Hughes looked mad, way too much injury time as ever when Manure need a goal. And of course for that little twat to be the hero really leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. One thing about the game for me is we should never have let Bellamy go, fucking Souness.
  6. Destroying their Gd at the same time, good stuff But extending Brom's.
  7. 35,000 at Villa, that's pathetic tbh, for a team that claims to be a big club, when compared to a mangerless, ownerless, disorganised team relegated from the the PL that pulls in over 42,000.
  8. That's a bit of a shock, thought that had draw written all over it that fixture. Brom flying now.
  9. What a fucking embarrassment, if we can't beat a team like plymouth, well where the hell do we go this season.
  10. According to the beeb Plymouth had had 55% possesion and more shots on goal than us. This is the team that's bottom of the league, we should not be struggling like this, even though we are leading, this is exactly the opposition we should be putting away.

    PROMOTIONOMETER

I've been a little surprised at how strong Boro and Brom have been, thought at least one of them would struggle. This has made me adjust my theory that it's only ourselves that'll stop us going straight back up. I would still be completely shocked if we didn't make at least the playoffs, but got to say that we are going to be in a huge fight with Boro and Brom for those two spots and after last night I think we are probably 3rd favourites in that battle.

    Like it or loathe...

It seems like a deliberate marketing ploy, at least early season, we are playing home keit at home and away kit(s) away.
  13. That's the most infuriating thing, it was an unncessesary loss. Yep. Thats whats so annoying for me. Barton seemed to be running the show and was taken off. Hughton didnt seem to make a good decision all night. Maybe starting Carroll, but thats about it. were you listening to radio newcastle, real fm or newcastle world ? barton seemed poor on radio newcastle. I didn't hear or see any of the game so take what I say with a pinch of salt. But If you are chasing a game, why take off players likely to score or create from midfield such as Guthrie and Barton and leave on someone like Butt, who's reappearance in the first team has coincided with us losing a game. Coincidence or not ?
  14. The other thing about this that could work against us is, it shows the rest of the league that we are far from unbeatable. I think to some extent the opposition has been a little in awe of us these season, now there should be no fear if little Blackpool can beat us, really anyone can. Bad, bad, day. Yes the unbeaten run had to end sometime and it's only one loss but could have big implications for the rest of the season. We've got 3 games left this month against teams that havge been struggling, we should be expecting 9 points from that, if not we could struggle to keep up with Brom and Boro, who look the class in this division atm.
  15. This was an issue all of last season, no plan B. I thought that mentality had changed a little this season with the Huddersfield game and the WBA game where we came from behind but looks like we are back to the usual.
  16. According to the beeb, we haven't had a shot in the last 20 mins or so, sounds awfully like last year where we just gave up on games. Aston Villa last day of season, is prime example.
  17. I've always been against the idea of giving this excellent coach but unqualified manager the job on a permenant basis tbf.
  18. How can we have settled for a draw? We are losing ffs. FFS, do you understand the concept of past tense ?? FFS ?
  19. Sounds like we should have settled for the draw. It was the type of game I would have taken a draw from, it had potential banana skin written all over it.
  20. Reading the beeb still. Should we be trying to hold on for the draw here or going for the win, looks like we are very much 2nd best according to the text feed.
  21. Well I'm stuck with watching the BBC live text thing as my only source of knowledge about what's going on. All I'm seeing is: ........ takes a shot. Saved by Steve Harper. Not encouraging at all from that, sounds like they've had more chances in the first 20 mins, than our last 2 or 3 opponents managed to create put together. This is where we need a strong manager, can you really see Hughton giving them the bolocking it sounds they deserve at half time ? If of course things don't improve.
  22. Bad couple of results for us tonight, both Brom and Boro looking very strong in this division. I've said all along it only ourselves that will prevent us from going up, but those two teams are making me rethink that a little. Just hope we don't get a repeat of our first season down the last time we got relegated when we finished 3rd and got knocked out by the mackems in the playoffs.
  23. Both West Brom and Boro winning, back down to 3rd right now Right now looks like the 3 of us are battling for 2 spots, hope we aren't going to be the odd ones out at the end of the season. Of course still a long way to go and a lot can change.

    RIP sale thread.

Couldn't agree more, and I'm as guilty as the next person. Definately stepping away now.
