  1. I agree with Mole on this one. You want him closer to your front man, as he supplies the forward with deadly passes more often than any other player I've ever seen. He's so good at it it's just stupid. I don't think Chelsea, Man United or Man City would use him this way, and Wenger has already come out and said that he now has Ozil there, and so he's not sure he can fit him in.

Apparently Liverpool are in the shadows and are considering him too. The thought of him supplying Sturridge and Suarez with their movement is absolutely terrifying.  I will bet on them winning a trophy of some sort next season if he signs there. It would be a sickener. Unreal that the money they're being asked to pay for Lallana can essentially get them Fabregas.

  2. Fabregas is an absolutely devastating playmaker. In that role just behind the striker, I have never seen someone play so many devastating through balls, always at the perfect time. He's a killer. Love his game, and really hope he ends up somewhere where he can play that way again. Fantastic player.

Sydney FC opens talks with Nigeria star Ameobi

Sydney FC has opened discussions with star striker Shola Ameobi's representatives in a bold bid to lure the Nigerian international to the A-League.

The Sky Blues want 32-year-old Ameobi, who played more than 300 matches for Newcastle United in England, to be their marquee star after the departure of Italian striker Alessandro Del Piero.

A Sydney spokesman confirmed the club is talking to Ameobi's people.

Ameobi is a free agent since being released by the Magpies last month after 14 years' service to the club.

Incoming manager Graham Arnold sees Ameobi as the perfect partner for New Zealand international striker Shane Smeltz, who joined the club last month from Perth Glory.

Ameobi, who played for an hour for Nigeria in last week's drawn international with Scotland, is in his country's 30-member group for the FIFA World Cup and will know on Tuesday if he will be in the final squad.

The Nigerians play Argentina, Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina in Group F.

Sydney has struggled to make a mark on the A-League since it won the premiership-championship double in 2010 and sees Ameobi as the man who could provide the team with the spark in attack to mount a serious challenge for the title.

Sydney is understood to be dealing with other strikers.

Given that I support Sydney in the A-League, I'm about to puke my heart out.

I'm a member on that website, and I made the following comment (which is still pending review):

Having watched 14 years of Ameobi's woeful performances, am I now to be cursed to continue watching him stroll around for Sydney too? The man has a chronic hip injury and can barely break into a trot. We don't need Ameobi, for God's sake Arnie, spare us

  4. Need to celebrate like Amuneke in the 94 WC

That was Yekini bro. Rashidi Yekini.

  5. Everyone gets to have fun except us.

    And Southampton

They're about to get £25 million for Lallana, and they will definitely spend it.

We're trying to give away Mapou and Ben Arfa for peanuts that we won't spend anyway.

  6. Rooney at 18 was just not a terrific footballer and explosive athlete, but he also had a great motor that just kept running.

He's lost a lot of that sudden explosiveness, athleticism and non stop energy. At just 28 it's pretty surprising, as he should be peaking in these areas now.

  7. Who is England's next right back after Johnson. Actual right back, not Phil Jones or Smalling?

Walker. But he has the ability to be terrible too. In fact I'd say his pace masks generally poor football ability.

Honestly think Clyne and even Chambers would be better backup right back options than Johnson, Jones, Smalling and Walker.

  8. Really think Wilshire and Barkley have to start alongside Llana, as They all naturally pass and move well. Sterling should also start, and should be out wide to utilise his pace more.

Hodgson on may have to alternate between Rooney and Sturridge upfront.

  9. Just don't understand why England can't play with better passing and movement. Really disappointing.

Welbeck has been a joke. He should be nowhere near the starting lineup. Particularly out wide.

  10. Get French Football ‏@GFN_France  29s

Talks between Bordeaux and Newcastle United regarding Mapou Yanga MBiwa have broken down because of his salary demands. #FCGB #NUF

Was always going to be the case. We can't afford to bring these guys over, make them look like they're crap, and so have to sell them back to smaller clubs, who then can't afford their salaries.

  11. If true, 8 Million Euros is a great price. Wow.

I started watching a fair bit of him since we've been linked, and he's an exciting player. Just hope we've done some research and there's evidence that he is deemed to be more 'hard working' than Ben Arfa, as our manager is obsessed with that aspect of the game.
