  1. I still fear we're just hoovering up players out of contract rather than buying them to fit a certain gameplan and club philosophy.

You're right like, but Mbiwa and Gouffran sounds to me just like the players we need, so in these particular cases I think we're managing to combine the two.

Like the club always aim to do you mean?

We have the stingiest most frugal man running the club ever, and people think he brings players in just because they have contracts running down?

These are decent players we're getting.

Why are people always panicked when there isn't a big price tag attached?

    Annoying!

  2. Gouffran strikes me as a bit of an Obertan mark II. Having said that, Gouffran's form has been decent of late (and from what I've seen of him, he does seem have a better footballing brain than Obertan) so I'd be all for him signing as a squad player (especially if it is a low fee).

Just because he has a similar complexion, haircut and cam from the same French club?

Come off it! Obertan wasn't even playing first team football in France, never mind scoring almost a goal every other game the last year and a half.

  3. As long as we come to a deal eventually, I don't really mind that they go in low first. Obviously it will p*ss some people off, but in this case it doesn't seem to be that far away from what they want.

I think Ashley is determined to have NUFC known to be a club that can't be messed around with on deals, which is a good thing.

However, this is an extra 250,000 Euros we're talking about though, as Bordeaux are only asking for 1 million Euros, not pounds, but Euros.

Bearing in mind the player's actual worth is around £7 million if his contract isn't running down, I'd have to say Ashley is taking things way too far on this one.

    It's embarrassing ...

Gouffran's worth 7m? Nah, not having that.

Transfermrkt is usually pretty accurate for players values, and I'm going off of that.

  5. It's funny, because no matter what Bordeaux said we would always offer about 200k less and try and meet them in the middle.

Ashley watches too much Bargain Hunt.

The guy is unbelievable. Delaying things over 250,000 euros.

He essentially wants the guy for free now, as that 750,000 euros we bis was to buy out the rest of his contract apparently.

  6. @F8Piraux: Yann M'Vila is close to... Rubin Kazan for 11,5€M with a 4 years contract and a salary of 4€M per year. Meeting today between the two clubs.

Unfortunately, it seems this has led to them trying to get Moussa Sissoko instead.

Who prefers us and is good mates with Yo Cabs.

Amen bro, amen. Let's hope so.

  8. Pardew said he thought Cabaye was capable of playing the whole game. Then despite him saying the player told him he was struggling at half time, sent him back out and subbed him just after he attempted an overhead kick, and after having taken Marveaux off first, and after we'd conceded the equaliser. To claim it was obvious the crowd shouldn't have expressed anger at that decision is ridiculous.

Sure, at the time I was raging as well. But it seems the situation is a bit more complicated than Pardew just wanting to take all our creative players off.

Jonas and Shola played 90 mins. For that there is no excuse.

As long has there was life in Marveaux's body, he stays on ahead of Shola. You damn well put him on the right instead of that donkey.

  9. Ultimately the booing yesterday was a good thing.

If Pardew stays it's the slap in the face he needed tbh.

He'll at least think twice in future before those stupid subs he makes.

Do you not think it makes any difference that he thought Cabaye would be able to stay on?

Regardless of what he was thinking for the subs on Saturday, I just know that in future he will think a bit harder before making his subs, which are often silly.

That can only be a good thing. He needed a wake up call. Think the fans at the game on Saturday should be applauded.

  11. Just a possible issue with Adkins.

Apparently the issue at Southampton was over transfers.

Gaston Ramirez and Yoshida both had nothing to do with him.

Our policy isn't quite that ludicrous, as it seems the manager has more of a role in recruitment, but you have to wonder.
