  1. Not really sure what the alternative with Ba is though?

Both he and Cisse just look awful together upfront, and Ba doesn't want to play on the left.

Would have been nice if we had perhaps tried a diamond formation with HBA just behind both of them by now (remember Owen behind Martins and Viduka transforming what was similarly a largely dysfunctional team back then?), but our current manager lacks any kind of creativity so that was never going to happen.

I can certainly see why people think he ought to go.

  2. im totally baffled as to how someone can win manager of the season and then the next season look clueless.

    there is just no explanation

Maybe we're exaggerating how bad things are?

    ???

I find this kind of comment quite unbelievable.

Not only are we not picking up points.

    We are playing terrible football.

All the players appear to be out of form, literally every single one.

We are now beginning to pick up injuries leading into our toughest stretch of games. Having completely failed to capitalise on easier fixtures when we had our full team.

Through it all the manager has practically changed nothing, but has instead doggedly stuck to a system of playing that has often not allowed us to take advantage of our strengths as a team.

If Pardew insist on lining up in the way he has done, I really think tonight will be a huge wake up call for some. He'd better not dare go with 4-4-2 tonight.

  3. The funny thing is he always played out on the left at Hoffenheim, so I don't know why he's been so fussy about it.

He probably didn't have to track back as much for them though, as someone alluded to already. Probably doesn't fancy all the extra running involved.

    Really annoying situation though.

  4. To be honest we're buggered whoever is running the show unless we get some players in. We overachieved last season and for that we owe Pardew some benefit of the doubt. I admit that runs out every time he plays formations and tactics which don't suit our 'big guns'. But when you've got the likes of Williamson, Simpson, Sammy, Ferguson on the pitch you have to accept that these are not top drawer players. I think talk of 'Pardew out' is premature but I am very worried. Last time we were in major trouble come christmas we weakened rather than strengthened and paid the price.

I attribute some of our problems to poor tactics but I also think it is hard to motivate player who know they are head and shoulders above those sitting on the bench. I hope Pardew can work a miracle but doubt he can, and I see nothing but a struggle ahead, whether he stays or is replaced. Unless we strengthen in January.

Pards shouldn't you be concentrating on fine tuning those ground breaking set pieces we'll be using tonight?

  5. Judging on the types of managers we've had so far under Ashley and the way in which he works.  I really don't see who we'll get that's any better?

We won't get a decent foreign name and I'm not even sure we'll get a decent manager from the Championship.  We won't pay decent compo to get a good manager's service, we won't offer good wages or a big transfer kitty, we won't.....  See where this is going?

Also, if we sack the 'manager of the year', who has just got us back into Europe via a 5th place finish.  What is that going to look like to prosepctive targets?

Basically, I'm at a point where I'm not really arsed if he stays or goes.  I personally don't have faith that he will turn it around.  But at the same time, I'm not convinced whatever chump we get in to replace him will do much better either.

Feel pretty 'MEH' about the whole thing TBH.  :undecided:

I imagine they'd get on with Holloway.

I guarantee he would do a much better job with the players we have.

I think they're mate Poyet would too.

There will be an approipriate manager out there. Up to them to commit to finding one who can work with the types of players they're bringin in.

I really don't think it's as impossible as some think.

I mean the one we have is completely blowing it at the moment anyway!

  6. Anyone watch the Villa game yesterday?

Hard to believe those youngsters have a better idea of how to pass and move into space than the likes of Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Anita, Tiote, Ba and Cisse. Unreal.

Pardew is doing a hell of a job screwing this team up it has to be said.

The Villa kids didn't always get it right, but they were trying, and they would occasionally go long to Benteke, who is adept at holding the ball up, or flicking it on. I mean you could see there was some method to what they were doing.

Newcastle at the moment on the other hand ... just random kicks of the ball it seems like.

  7. What was the game where Cabaye played that ridiculous through ball to Ciss for a goal. The ball took out like 4 or 5 of the opposition's players to play Cisse through practically one on one.

Pardew went on and on about the pass afterwards, and rightfully so.

I was sure Cabaye would end up playing just behind Cisse, like he did in that game, forever and ever after that.

What a dreamkiller Pardew has proven to be.
