Their current wingers have still not managed to replace the production they had previously with Sterling and Mahrez at their best. And then they have now also lost Kevin DeBruyne who continued to be their most likely threat at unlocking teams last season, even though he was pretty much done. Far from certain Cherki comes in and can carry the creative responsibility DeBruyne previously did. Also opposition teams fear them far less now, and have gotten used to defending deep against them and countering them very effectively, and they have been struggling more and more to stop those counter attacks.

Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

We just need to make sure we pivot to other options in time to get in the numbers we need, and this is still feasible. We are attractive enough to get players good enough to compete, even if we don't land our main targets. The manager's ability to get the best of his players and more is a big advantage for us. Our first team is pretty much right there already. We need to just get in a couple more additions there, along with some better rotation pieces. -
Eddie Howe is taking the lead on transfers right now. It's what a lot of people called for, once Mitchell was deemed to be the source of every problem. Mitchell is now gone. There were even some people saying that we didn't need a director of football and that Howe should just work with Nickson going forward. Our decisions on who to move for and how much to bid is being completely headed up by the manager. All this talk of the people upstairs holding Howe back or not backing him is not making sense. This is the Howe transfer strategy and so we're now going to have to deal with it for better or for worse.

Oh I'm sure. I also wouldn't be surprised at all if some club out there is using it to advice on how to proceed with transfer negotiations.

We should let ChatGPT negotiate the deals and all.

He'll be going straight in as the number 1 striker too, in a team with title ambitions. No pressure As talented as he is, I'm not sure he has the temperament to deal with the responsibility. Will be really interesting. The hilarity if the guy flops there man -
“My wish was for us to do our business early and we certainly tried but it wasn’t to be. We’ve had a frustrating time in terms of losing targets to other clubs. I’ve been very open about that, it’s happened on a couple of occasions but you just have to accept it. For a transfer to really work, in my opinion, the player has to be desperate to come to your club and if you don’t get that the transfer doesn’t work." “We’re seeking players who are good enough and are desperate to come and will make a difference. They’re in short supply for us but we’re confident that we can get some more players in to strengthen the depth of the squad. We certainly need to.”

I think Liverpool don't want to pay as much as they're asking for him. Don't think anyone wants to really. It's a huge fee. Now Liverpool came in for Isak and put it out there that they'd be willing to pay £120 million, Frankfurt are going to be even tougher to negotiate with to bring that Ekitike fee down. -
In reality there is no going fast with cartel targets. The players agents will have an idea of the cartel teams that are interested, and as soon as we come in for the player, they then leak the info to try and get those other clubs to come in too, so they can get more competition and leverage that for more money.

Yes, we've been actively pursuing numerous players and clearly have money to spend. Outside of the main clubs in the Prem it's been mostly quiet still for the most part, as things really haven't got moving yet.

Another day another set of repetitive posts from the day before about how we aren't going to get the signings we need in. So fun.

We were linked with Kalimuendo this summer. He's actually quite comparable to Wissa, and so I imagine he's on the list. Prem experience is taking priority first though.
-
Wissa at 28, Isak at 25 and Osula at 22 is a nice mix. I think the main thing with Wissa is that the salary won't be massive, and we will be keeping a close eye on wages, especially if we'll be looking to give Isak a new deal. The Wissa deal cannot surpass £40 million at the absolute max though, so will depend on whether we can negotiate with them.

He wasn't playing upfront when Toney was there.
