Considering the service Carroll was really good.

Milner is just a plodding mess.

Amazingly Milner seems to have got even worse since moving inside.

Lost all the momentum he had from playing there all of last season. He's going to have to be playing there consistently to get the rythm back. Will he play there at city? No. Because they play three DMs. He should never have gone there without some guarantee he would continue playing in the middle. He's a silly boy.

Fluid football. Like water this stuff.

Milner through the middle now. Good decision from Capello. Expecting much better from him this half.

Few things as frustrating and irritating as watching Milner on the wing. Fantastic prospect through the middle. Had it all set up perfectly for him at Villa for the next ten years, but had to get ahead of himself. He'll be out of both teams soon enough.

Henderson nowhere near ready for international football. Could benefit with another year in the Under 21s.

At least he is looking to be patient and play it short in the rare instances he has been involved. However he is getting no help whatsoever from the two supposedly senior players alongside him. Actually feel bad for him in a way.

Even Danny Murphy would improve this midfield. No one out there can dictate play in any way shape or form. Gerrard just wants to show people how far he can pass the ball all the time, just compare his mindset to Nasri's and Gourcuff's. Has no one ever mentioned this to him? If so, why not? Gerrard is a terrible player internationally. Poor understanding of the game.

Carroll has been average by his standards set this season but still Englands best player so far, lol, how s**** England are.

Carroll has had nothing to work with. Much like his predecessors. How do you properly judge any England striker really?

Carroll at least having fun out there. Nice little step over.

Nothing through the air for France. Just brilliant build up play in the ground. Awesome stuff.

Decent french team, but the gap shouldn't be this big. No sense of any kind of plan of attack from England. Capello is shocking.

Not one cross in to Carroll from general play yet. What a waste.

On a positive note. Ferdinand has been really good.

International football is all about posession and steady build up play. England players as good as some of them are, just don't seem to be able to grasp this concept. Just so quick to hoof it forward, but the kinds of gaps and spaces you see in the prem just don't exist out there.

Classic Milner. Doing dribble moves he doesn't have the talent to pull off.

Gerrard continuously losing the ball with these silly long passes through the air. Keep it on the ground and pass and move for goodness sake. Crazy stuff.

I'm being serious. Milner isn't going to produce anything all night from the wing I promise you. Also, the England midfield just don't look for the ball enough or move well enough in order to produce any kind of meaningful build up play through the centre. England's only chance of any decent midfield play will eventually come from Wilshere. Huge miss for England.

England's most important player is ultimately going to be Jack Wilshere. The only one who will properly look to play through midfield.
