  1. Can't believe this Avram stuff.

Avram would not be able to inspire performances from our current set of players to stay up imo.

Can't believe anyone would want him to come in at this point.

We need someone with a lot more energy, drive  and charisma right now in order to keep the players geared up for the fight we have on our hands.

In a relegation scrap I think I roll with JK over Avram for sure.

With a team of quality players who are comfortably a mid table side at worst, then I consider Grant.

Yeah, because things are going so well. Why change it?

The longer Ive been on the messageboard, the more Ive come round to the idea that you spout s****.

Where were we when JK took over and where are we now?

You are very confused and unrealistic.

Are you saying that if Avram had come in straight after KK and had to deal with exactly the same circumstances that JK did we would have been any better off? Why exactly would you think this?

You say things haven't gone great, but in my view, with all things considered I would argue that they have could have been a hell of a lot worse.

I know it's trendy to discount JK, but when I look at where we are right now we are in a much stronger position than the majority of our relegation rivals, and with a lot of our better players returning from injury we have every chance of easing away from our predicament.

Jk came in and won the players over very quickly and ultimately that is what is the most important factor in our current state of being relegation candidates. Especially when you consider how easily this set of players seem to be willing to cave in and take any excuse not to compete.

But whatever, you keep on rubbishing it all, but I'm not buying that shit because it is absolute bollocks. We actually look like we might be starting to get out of this mess and you think it's a great idea to now bring in Avram Grant out of nowhere because he has really shown he would be great for this club at this point in time.

    Nonsense.

  3. I remember being so discouraged by this signing at the time. Just lacked imagination.

At the time we signed Viduka, Blackburn were signing Santa Cruz.

This desperation for prem experienced players goes too far. British managers in particular, have to begin to do a better job of identifying good players who can adapt to the prem and stop going for lesser players and even damaged goods just because they are prem experienced.

Pathetic waste of money and time on the whole. As alreday mentioned though, at least he helped keep us up last season.

  4. You look at the performances of the likes of Drogba, Ballack, Terry and Cech in particular in comparison with last season and a pretty telling picture is formed.

They were running the f***ing show man not Avram.

    Yup.

Avram is a pushover a la Roeder.

  5. Avram had Essien, Makelele, Joe Cole, Carvalho and a focused Drogba.

Scolari has not had any of these players either consistently or at all.

Avram would not be a good move. He has done nothing outside of stepping in as an interim for Chelsea for a few months.

    No thanks.

Seems like the sort players would walk all over too. Sort of like they did to Roeder.

    Nah, not for me neither.

  6. I'm gonna give them some credit and suggest this is a facade Kinnear and the Board were cooperating in - Kinnear wasn't going to be kept on, but both parties recognised that perceivably limited authority undermines an incumbent manager. Thus they agreed to pretend it was forever in order to maximise their respective successes, Kinnear now holding a better chance of accruing a decent reputation. This would explain why he didn't snap their hand off when offered the job.

    That's probably it...

That's my optimistic assessment as well, otherwise Kinnear not signing the contract doesn't make sense. I am still nervous about the appointment they actually do make though. Hopefully we will be "pleasantly surprised".

I would imagine that most decentish managers would want to be assured of prem status and would also want a full window to shape the squad to their liking.

    We live in hope.

  7. I'm not saying I wanted JK as permanent manager at any point, but just out of interest what exactly are people judging his ineptness on?

Is it just results? If so, is that really fair? Especially when you consider the environment he walked into and the injuries we have suffered from?

All things considered he hasn't been as disastrous as some on here claim he has been, and the players in particular seem to be gving their all for him.

He isn't perfect but wow do some people go overboard with their disgust for his period of management.

  8. This from the Journal...

Speaking before Kinnears heart scare, Llambias defended the decision to offer the former Republic of Ireland international a two-year contract.

That contract has still not been signed as Kinnear argued he would rather wait until the end of the season before deciding whether he wanted to make that sort of commitment.

Llambias said: Joe has incredible experience.

Hes got incredible vision and hes a good man manager. We think hes a good fit for us, hes realistic of what hes looking for.

Hes what we are looking for. Whether he takes the contract, we dont know. And if he doesnt well review the situation and well go out again and find somebody else."

What the f***.... one day he's saying he just runs the stadium selling pies and s***, he has nothing to do with football side of things. The next he's giving us his  incredibly knowledgeable views on why JFK will be the manager for the next 2 and a half years.

I know he said "we", but he should have f*** all to do with deciding who the manager should be. We might as we consult the tea lady as well while we're at it.

I'm sorry but i just think he's feeding us s*** what he think's we want to hear (about everything else, not JFK).

They cry out for communication thern they rubbish it all anyway.

    Fascinating.

  9. I see today's installment bring the Dennis Wise spin.

He was responsible for allowing his team to bring us Bassong and Spiderman, great, KK had the final say after Bassong played in a friendly.

We wouldnt be in the mess we are in had Wise not brought in Xisco and Gonzales or KK had the final say as they club said he would.

Absolutely nothing they've said so far is going to make me change my mind and not cancel my 3 year deal, I dont believe a single word they say and Im not falling for it again.

A shame really as I want to like Ashley and I want to believe him, quite why he gets the bloke who just runs the "pie and chip" sales to speak is beyond me, not only is he a despicable c***, he's not the man we should be hearing from.

They cry out for communication thern they rubbish it all anyway.

    Fascinating.

  10. I hate centre halves who just clatter into the back of ofrwards and give the cheapest of freekickd away around the box.

    It's just such needless foolishness.

    Piss poor play by Upson.

  11. If you head down to the training ground in the morning you might wake up David O'Leary, he sleeps in George Graham's arms waiting outside the gates in hope.

...you might laugh but Gus Poyet has been sitting in a hotel room across the way waiting for the phone to ring with Dennis on the other end.

Again, on a 4-5 month thing to keep us up, I wouldn't particularly mind any of those 3...as long as it was just until May.

You would have O'Leary and Robson here and expect to stay up?

    Are you unwell?

Crazy talk my friend. Please pull yourself together.

    Holy!

Don't even joke about O'Leary please.

    :dave:

  13. Bryan Robson is the most sour faced moaner of a manager ever.

    The guy is just terrible.

As soon as there is a hint of trouble he will turn so negative and no doubt piss of all the players.

Would be a pretty scary appointment.

    Not amusing  :weep:

  14. Like the look of Barry and Carrick in central midfield.

Yeah, cause they'll keep the ball on the ground with quick passes. No Gerrard hollywood balls tonight.

England have dominated Spain for periods. And that's becuase the team Capello has put out has 11 players who to a man are good at what their position is meant to provide for that level. Central midfielders who pass well and intelligently, wingers with pace and the ability to dribble with the ball, strikers with either strength or movement/pace, mobile fullbacks, etc.

None of this "oh lets play Gerraarrrrrrrrdddd and Lampard in central midfield because they score 15-20 goals a season", or "lets start Beckham every game because he can hit wonderful 600 yard diagonal crossfield and/or cross-stadium balls".

Gerrard for England just goes so over the top with stuff and negatively affects the rest of the team because of it. Stupid long ball after the other.
