  1. Or by only getting him on loan we have a player who doesn't give a s*** if we go down or not because if we do he'll be on his way somewhere else.

    Congratulations you've outdone Stalker!

What a crazily negative way of looking at things.

So the guy is coming from a smaller league and team and will be on loan at a big team in the top league in the world and could potentially double his salary should he earn a permanent move and you think that he won't give a shit.

    Brilliant!

  2. Very sensible move IMO. With our Premiership status nowhere near secure it wouldn't be wise to sign players up on a long-term contract. IF we get relegated we'd probably have to sell the guy anyway. Let's wait until we know which league we'll be playing in, assess if he's good enough between now and the end of the season, and then make a decision

I understand the point of view but it reminds me of the Distin situation, hopefully he's not as much of a mercenary

Everything scares some of you guys.

It's a loan with a view to a permanent deal where agreements will be put in place should the option be picked up on.

Stop being such a scaredy cat.

  3. If we bring in some good players who improve the team he'll get a lot of praise from me.

I think one definite good thing about having Kinnear in charge is that he will be far more open to taking advantage of the scouting system we have in place. Some might say he's a yes man because of it, but I would much rather we use the people in place to recruit players rather than rely on Joe solely.

  4.

So we've agreed a fee and now need to convince the player to come here?  Good luck with that one

The lack of faith a good number of people on here have is startling!

We've just today seen a very talented young portuguese midfielder go to bloody Portsmouth under Tony Adams.

Why are you so sure Donadel would be against joingin a team with well known internationals such as Coloccini, Jonas, Owen, Martins, Beye etc.

Come on now stop expecting the worse all the time. It's a bit pathetic.

  5. I'm not a tougbh guy (I could probably smash all ur face's off though just by breathing), it just strikes me tbhat you've hardly seen the guy play and amde your mind up on not very much info, which is a crime!!

I'm judging from what I saw of him last season as he played a good number of games under Sven and he also featured in all of Switzerland's games in Euro 2008.

I'm not saying he's a world beater but he certainly isn't gash. Bear in mind Man Cuty have the likes of Elano, Kompany, SWP, Ireland etc in their midfield though and so it's easy for them to berate Gelson. However, when seeing the fumblings of Butt every week I think allow you to appreciate a player like Gelson a lot more than they would. They've been spoilt recently while we have been starved.

  6. Gelson Fernandes says he could leave Man City, havent seen alot of him but maybe worth a go?

I like Gelson. Gets all over the pitch like you couldn't imagine breaking stuff up. In posession he distributes the ball well with short simple passes, nothing too overcomplicated. Very good player who is easy to overlook because he doesn't do anything too flash.

That's like how Arsenal fans rate Taylor.

Man City think Gelson is gash.

Not from what I've seen of him anyway.

    f*** all then.

You go you tough guy you!!!

    :smitten:

Don't think he's gash at all. Not from what I've seen of him anyway.

  8. It's funny watching what is happening at Tottenham.

It pretty much proves that they have potentially got rid of a class manager in Ramos for no reason as Harry's moves so far have pretty much confirmed that the problem was the players as many on here knew anyway.

The number of times Berbatov and Keane, an outstanding pairing, bailed them out and papered over some serious cracks were too many to count. No surprise that they bombed immediately the two were sold.

  9. Ive no idea why we would go for McManus. He isn't terrible, but no better than what we have and £4mil is quite a bit when we could get Christophe Berra from Hearts for half the price. He's young, has potential and would be great back up for us with the potential for him to push for a first team place in the next year or so. I can't see McManus coming here to be back up.

Maybe Joe will discover that Hearts exist before the end of the transfer window. He discovered Rangers and went for all their players, and seems to have noticed Celtic exist in the last few days, so maybe Hearts next.

Also think we should stand our ground and demand Johnson in exchange for Given and cash. He's also a good young player in a position we need. I think his personal problems are well documented, but hopefully a change in scenery would help him get over it. Would be pleased to see him and Barton in our midfield.

If we go for him rather than Berra I would imagine it would be because we could do with another experienced CB. We've been very fortunate that Bassong has been so solid as we might have been in a far worse position had he not been.

Bassong and Taylor are two young CBs we have on the books and so we could do with another older head in the ranks aside from Colo. Cacapa has pretty much been written off at this point.

  10. What kind of striker is Fred? Haven't seen enough of him. Is it worth swapping Zoggy for him?

I think we could do with another tallish striker. Ameobi is our only option right now. Smith will be going at some pointas he is pointless and Viduka is a blob of incompetence.

Fred's goal scoring record is impressive, especially as he hasn't been played in the first team consistently at Lyon.

Fred reminds me of Mido when he was younger.

    Really? Sounds good to me.

  11. Beye will be something like 32 by the time the next season begins, so why not?

Exactly. 32 and coming of a pretty bad injury it seems. Habib's got another couple of years at right back at the very most. Besides Ebondo is still relatively young and just emerging onto the scene and so won't be demanding to start everygame right away I shouldn't think. It's a good balance.

  13. Hardly our most needed position but bodies are needed.

Its up there with the most needed seeing as Beye's out for another few months.

Ah didn't realise he was going to be out for months. Not sure what will happen when Beye returns though.

    Squad depth will happen.

We've been so starved of this phenomenon we can no longer fathom it it seems.

  14. Leaving it late if you ask me.

We've just been negotiating I think and exploring all options.

We can't just go in and pay what is demanded right off the bat. It just doesn't work like that. It's the last week and so now we will hopefully move for the best deals we have found so far.

Painstaking for us the fans but good for the club overall.

I understand the problems with signing players.

We've known the issues with the first team since before the season kicked off, we could have been a bit more pro active between the windows.

    Hence, leaving it late.

    True.

However, the chaos that ensued between this window and the last probably interrupted the kind of preparation we should have had.

At one point we had no manager and pretty much no owner.
