Wow ... that was tight.
-
Jackson is onside.
-
Ward-Prowse at it already.
Knew this guy would be lethal in a Moyes side.

My comment wasn't regarding yesterday's performance, my comment was upgrading on Almiron was something that was needed. He's a very limited winger who's approaching 30. This is a football forum - it would be boring if we all had the same footballing opinion.
Fair enough.
Diaby's only been here 5 mins though, and isn't even playing the same position, so I'm not sure he would have been the right fit.
Almiron really doesn't help himself unfortunately. Watching the game back he probably had the best bits of play going forward for us, but in absolutely crucial moments he sometimes does the most awful thing that everything else good is forgotten about.
I think he is seen as crucial to the pressing game Howe has put in place and he also offers a lot of defensive support to Trippier, and so finding similar traits in a player with more quality I think has been difficult.

Funny guy. You're actually more reactionary than most of this server itself
Um ... okay.
If it makes you feel better to say that cool.

Maupay is tragic. His confidence is shot.
Been like this for so long too. Should have moved him on by now.

Just signed a kid from Sporting Lisbon for a bit of money
Ah, yes I remember seeing that Cherkiti or something like that.
Saw him in Europe last year for Sporting. Not sure he's ready to step in at all.

They have bid for Che Adams
Oh dear ...
Puts himself about a bit more I guess, but he's quite wasteful too.
I know it's not really his fault, but DCL is a coach killer.
His constant injuries disrupt Everton so much, as he's their best player.
-
Can Everton not find a better backup than this useless Maupay?

Seeing Diaby running wild whilst we still have Almiron is tough to swallow.
Well let's see what he does against Man City.
Almiron was running wild against this sort of opposition all of last season too.
One game and so many ready to give up on our players. That's messed up.

I think Villa's first two games are a good indication of how the season may go for them.
You can get away with Diaby in a free role against Everton, but when you're playing a team also pushing for top 6 you need everyone to work off the ball. It's why he wouldn't have been much use to us last night against Man City.
I think Villa will be hard to beat at home and will likely grab a good amount of points from teams in the bottom half, but they'll struggle against the top teams.
Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how things play out over the season.

Danjuma has started well since coming on.

Diaby again a constant threat, but yeah, McGinn is playing great.
Diaby looks a great pick up for them. Emery has also given him a bit of a free role playing off Watkins, which means he has less to do defensively, as he doesn't have to track the opposition full back.
Think we opted against going for him for that right side as his defensive numbers were really bad.
-
DCL is so depressing man. Always manages to get injured somehow.
There's a world where we could have ended up with all these problems too, as he was apparently the striker we were after initially.
But of course he got injured yet again and so could no longer be considered.
-
McGinn has been class.

I might be on the minority here, but it feels like Bruno is getting a rough reception on here. He was everywhere, constantly showing for the ball, recycling possession and arguably the only midfielder trying to make something happen.
Tonali certainly didn't hide or do much wrong, but I thought Bruno had a good game.
Bruno was really good today. Most of our good play started with him initiating things.
Think we just needed a different approach overall. More direct.
-
One of my favourite games last season was when Brentford ran them ragged.
I was hoping we'd emulate that somewhat and try to be more direct with the ball down the channels against them.
We tried to play a possession style today which we've improved a lot at, but Man City specialized in defending that style.
Think we'll eventually figure out the right strategy. Don't think these lot are unbeatable at all.

Akanji might be my favourite defender in the league.
£15 million. Embarrassing for the rest of the football world. Top class defender.

Could have snuck a cheeky draw today. Ah well. Defence was so impressive I thought.
We'll continue to learn and get better. No disgrace tonight.
Grealish again doing nothing but people will continue to say he's been class for Man City. Foden yet again showing him how it's done, class player.

Fantastic effort from Almiron, easily our best player in that City half tonight.
Involved in everything and the only one looking to make himself an option every time.
He was good overall, but unfortunately so dopey in some critical moments, which is so painful against this level of opposition because you just can't afford that.

Longstaff struggles to just receive a simple pass and play it himself.
Everything is in slow motion with him.

Anderson starts against Liverpool for me in place of Joelinton.
You'd get us relegated with no points.

Such a great effort to end the game here. Come on boys, let's get a draw.

It's just a quality issue today. We've been more than good enough for a point. Lots of positives to take from the fact we've pushed the treble winners this close.
As Tonali builds better understanding with the team we'll see a big improvement from that alone too.

Geez ... great goal. Great stuff from Jackson too in the lead up.
