  1. My view is that he was brought in with the brief of needing to be strong with Eddie as he was doing too much, and it all needed tightening up. Not necessarily all wrong, and not even necessarily something Howe would be completely dead against, but needed to be done far more diplomatically and less bullishly. Was a weird time with the whole PSR fallout, and so maybe that influenced Eales going with too strong an approach. Good it's all been resolved now though, and hopefully lessons learned.
  2. What's interesting as well is that there was an interview process taking place initially as well, similar to the approach we took with the manager hiring, and it was taking a while, and early on there was talk that Mitchell had already been decided against. But then they later went back to Mitchell in a bit of a rush, and seemingly based off his relationship with Eales I presume. Very strange. But then again I recall Mehrad and Amanda playing a big role in interviewing managers and going through that process, and so maybe without them there that approach was done away with.
  3. Yeah, think it's an important role to have going forward tbh. Just needs to be done properly next time. The approach to the whole thing last time seemed really off.

  6. Yeah, maybe a bit strong perhaps. But definitely seemed he was uncomfortable with the whole Mehrad, Amanda and Howe dynamic. Wasn't there talk he reported back to PIF about it which led to the change, with the Mitchell hiring then coming after?
  7. Can't lie kind of glad Eales is leaving as well having read that. Obviously hope his recovery goes well outside of that though.
  8. Reads as though Eales wanted Howe out and Mitchell was a step towards that by him. Crazy stuff.
  9. It's almost as though Eales had him come in to put Howe in his place or something. I remember Eales saying in that interview shortly after that Howe needed to focus on his work on the grass. Really really bad look for Eales.
  10. Definitely seems like Eales was culpable for the whole mess. No idea what he was thinking.
  11. If it's really as bad as that article states, probably shouldn't keep him around till the end of June?! This whole situation is so weird and confusing.
  12. Amorim was so angry that he effectively told Garnacho to hope to God he can find another club rather have to return to United for pre-season training at the start of July. ‘‘You better pray that you can find a club to sign you,’ said Amorim in a way that left Garnacho, 20, and his team-mates in no doubt that the player’s United career is over. The club said they would not comment on private dressing-room conversations.’

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Yeah, guess we'll see how it plays out.

I'm not keen on the current backup options either. Just not certain Howe feels the same way. Also have to bear in mind that Howe has recently also said he isn't keen on sweeping changes, but just making a few key signings.

Yeah, certainly a possibility. Apparently he wants to play more regularly. But with so many more games next season, maybe he'll think he has more opportunities. Guess we'll see.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Trafford, Guehi and Mbeumo will be around £130 million. So will likely be DCL on a free transfer or Wilson on a new contract I think. Don't think the midfield will change unless someone leaves.

Only if someone leaves I reckon. Howe just last week: “I think we do have depth, it depends on the position, really, how much depth. If you look at our midfield, for example, when everyone’s fit, I think we’ve got six top-quality midfielders for us to pick from – that’s an area of real strength for us.”

Trafford, Guehi, Mbeumo and DCL, and then closed for business this summer. Discuss.
  19. Except no one can actually prove he is even in Saudi ... Keep an eye out for someone in a hat and sunglasses lurking around behind the scenes at the club going forward
  20. And maybe on top of that he's already working for us while they pay him. In the age of clubs selling themselves things back and forth to avoid PSR, who knows All purely speculation of course.
  21. Two months ago would have been March. Coincidentally when Freedman was hired by a PIF owned Saudi second division club. Interesting
  22. Yeah, I'm sure his name was brought up by Douglas because of that. It's pretty silly really, as he isn't even at a club in a top division.

They usually play Rabiot or Luis Henrique on the other side.
  24. There was a piece doing the rounds a little while back on his transition into becoming a DOF. Has apparently done very well. Think he's at a lower league team in France at the minute. Would be too big a jump at this stage.
