  1. Everton clinch £5m Baines deal

Everton will sign Wigan full-back Leighton Baines tomorrow in a £5m deal. Wigan turned down an initial offer of £4m plus midfielder Andy van der Meyde but have accepted the improved offer. Everton, who drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace in a friendly yesterday, also hope to make Porto midfielder Luis Gonzalez the club’s £11m record signing this week after selling striker James Beattie to Sheffield United. If Gonzalez chooses Everton ahead of Juventus, the deal would top the £8.6m Moyes paid Crystal Palace for Andy Johnson last year.

    Thread title needs altering methinks.

  2. Has Geremi ever been captain for anyone on a regular basis?

No I don't think so. Maybe for Cameroon but not sure. I think he would be great though. Speaks English, French and even a bit of Spanish from his time at Madrid so he can communicate with pretty much all of our players.

Also leads by example but also directs players during the game. He also has a calm demeanour and would be a good calming influence especially as we have quite a few potential hot heads.

  3. We were linked with the Porto right-back Jose Bosingwa a little while back, and I think he could be a good addition. At 6ft he has the stature Sam wants in his defenders too. I would be happy if we brought him in, especially at the quoted price of £3 million.

  4. Who the f*** is Verlaine?

    Verlaine ain't s***!

Internet tough guy. Time and place. I swear I ill make you regret your existance sorry ass biatch!

Listen, small fry, five days ago I got into a fight with a pregnant woman on Regent Street. I'm tough in the real world too.

You're a loser. I'm not taking this shit form some Invicta Toon rip off wannabe okay?

Stop trying to be contorversial or moody or dark or whatever the fuck your trying to be.

Your persona is fucking weak. Make a contibution of your own or get the fuck out of here.

  5. Weird quote from Allardyce in tomorrow's Independent ... looks like he might have been interested but the price was a hindrance?

Baines falls into that category and Allardyce said of him: "He might be a possibility I suppose. He hasn't moved from Wigan yet and we need a defender, so we'll see."

What makes you think the price is a hindrance?

    He's f****** stupid?

You're a fucking stalker and you reall ought to get a fucking life.

Time and place motherfucker. Time and place. I'll fuck you up.

What makes you think the price is a hindrance?

Well I was thinking more along the lines that we have apparently already signed Jose Enrique and Drago, so I'm assuming he is no longer after Baines? And so maybe this was because of the fee?

  7. Honestly the unluckiest footballer around.

Whats happening to him is NOTHING compared to Albert (un)Luque

Anyway, f*** him, we got enough strikers to cover for him and more.

 yeah, f*** him, he's only the best player we've got

Correction: he's the best NAME we got, we haven't seen him enough on the pitch to determine if he can actually play and do something for NUFC.

Correction? Name a better player we've got. There isn't one.

    How do you know that?

What do you even mean? I've stated that Owen is our best player and you're challenging it without even naming someone you think is better?

I'll give you best goalscorer, although you could even argue that Viduka is a better goalscorer based on their records, but I certainly wouldn't say he is our best player. His all round game is not that great at all to be honest.

  8. he gets personal abuse for getting injured. classic.

I know, it's as if people think he wants to be stuck here. If he had his way he'd be fully fit, score us 15 goals by Christmas and rekindle interest in him from the top 4 clubs.

Look, I think people are just fed up and will probably deal with it better in a few days. I mean today has been pretty awesome and the last thign anyone wanted to hear about was Owen and his injuries. It's just very frustrating and so you can definitely expect some backlash for Owen.

He hasn't exactly endeared himself to the fans no matter what you say, and so his only chance of really getting any support behind him was to start performing on the pitch. Patience is wearing thin because it doesn't look like he is going to deliver anytime soon.

  9. Lucky to be at NUFC, sitting on huge wages whilst giving nothing back except empty words. Wont stop the ungrateful little b****** wanting a move away as soon as he gets the chance.

Him wanting a move away was probably the most selfless, generous gesture towards the club since he got here. It appears he is a huge liability.

I doubt anyone will ever be interested in him again though. He is seriously tainted goods right now.

Can you find a quote where he said he wanted to leave?

    I can find a clause.

So what about your idol Martins then?

    Martins?

He never initially demanded to only come here on loan.

His clause is actually higher than the fee we paid for him.

He is currently in discussions for an improved contract which removes the clause.

  12. Owen misery, while Dyer deal stalls

Michael Owen has plunged England into a striker crisis after Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce revealed he is likely to miss the start of the new season with a torn thigh.

As the 27-year-old's misery was revealed, club and England team-mate Kieron Dyer was returning north with his transfer to West Ham in danger of collapse.

Owen had featured for Newcastle in pre-season

England have two difficult Euro 2008 qualifiers at Wembley next month — against Israel on September 8 and Russia four days later — and Owen is unlikely to be anywhere near match fit.

This will be a huge blow to coach Steve McClaren, who will be without the suspended Peter Crouch for the Israel tie. He was also anxious to have Owen for the friendly against Germany on August 22.

Newcastle fear the striker, who missed all but three of their games last season, could be out for up to a month after failing to recover from the injury which has ruined his pre-season.

Allardyce had hoped to see Owen return at Hull in midweek but he is refusing to risk him for the first game of the season at Bolton next Saturday.

Allardyce said: 'It doesn't look as encouraging as we first thought. The tear in the muscle hasn't healed as quickly as we would like, so there's no point in making any rash decisions just to get him fit for the start of the season.

'It's about getting him 100 per cent for playing matches on a regular basis. That's why it has been more disappointing for him and for me that he's missed pre-season games more than training. He's done enough training to last him a lifetime.'

However, Allardyce has six strikers to choose from for tomorrow's friendly with Sampdoria after completing the £6million signing of Alan Smith from Manchester United.

Dyer, who is desperate to move south to be closer to his family, last night found his hopes of joining West Ham fading when Newcastle's new owner Mike Ashley bumped up the price from £5m to £7m.

He was angry at the way the Hammers approached the midfielder and accused them of unsettling the 28-year-old before they were given permission to speak to him, which West Ham deny.

Ashley told the Hammers they would have to pay £7m, rising to £8m if the east London club qualified for Europe, to secure the deal.

There is a feeling on Tyneside that billionaire businessman Ashley is flexing his muscles in one of the first major transfers since he took control.

I know it's not his fault and I hope he gets better, but I really wish someone had come in for him. Michael Owen depresses me. On a day with so much good news this happens.

    Will Owen ever be fit?

  13. Ok,i got Info.

He is Spanish U21 and one of the stars of that team.he is very highly rated and is being chased by host of top European clubs.in Jan Villarreal rejected a bid from inter for his services.

he is very quick and tough tackling defender.can also play as LW

One of the Villareal forums also says Chelsea were in for hima t one point as well, and they were quoted 24 million euros  ;D

  14. I'm sure we will still be signing an experienced head at left-back though. Most likely Drago. Good to know we will be well covered there now.

All we need is a youngish right-back to challeng Carr and we are well and truly sorted.

  15. If we sign Brown I would expect that Taylor would indeed play quite a few games at Right-back.

    Brown may play there tbh.

Actually that makes more sense as Brown is more athletic and quicker than Taylor. You're right.
