Sunderland are rolling today yet again and look like they are going to come back up as champions. Like it or not Sunderland are the talk of the North East. Quinn has done an excellent job of connecting with his fans and really showing he cares for the club and surely this must be putting pressure on Shepherd, who has never taken the Newcastle fans seriously and thinks he is doing a good job by throwing large amounts of money about every now and then. Quinn who is new at all this is putting him to shame big time. This can only be good for us as the comparisons are going to be made continuousl y as the clubs continue to go in completely opposite directions. As for Keane ... let's just say his performance should finally show the idiots in charge of Newcastle how important it is to have a manager who has some credibility in the game and one who isn't afraid to hold his players accountable in spite of whatever reputations they might have. Newcastle have to step up big time this summer because Sunderland are coming at us full force with a charismatic chairman and manager who are driving that club forward and they will have financial backing too. I am hoping that this works in our favour. I am sure that it will at least force the club to make the necessary tough decisions personnel wise this summer. So here's a toast to Quinny and Keane ... as much as it pains me to do so.

Just a coincidence maybe ? Someone else with the same name... Cant really see him leaving arsenal but if its true i will salute you Wouldnt mind a swap deal for zoggy like. Hes played this season like a want-away player in my view. Woosh?
-
Let's not get silly now. And how much did the Zog cost? The Zog ain't shit!
-
My point still stands though.
-
What a find by Hughes. Cost £400,000 from Hertha Berlin, has only just joined our league but is already fully adapted and better than every singleone of our defenders! Will the day we make these kind of signings ever come? Warnock, Samba, McCarthy, Roberts and Nonda ... what is the total cost of these players who have done an excellent job of taking Blackburn forward this year. Probably about half of what we spent last summer. Surely ... Jesus wept. :'(

Alan Pardew, after Charlton go down ...
-
My God ... he's turned into Souness! Waiting on lady luck and an injury free season? You've got to make your own luck and inspire the players at your disposal! Wake up man!!!

Calm down buddy ... Not bought a shirt in ages, or any other NUFC merchandise for that matter, and never will again till I can be proud of the team I support and right now I'm not. However I do like the new design and hopefully with what is transpiring at the moment we will have a team we can be proud of wearing that kit next season. Capish?
-
We might as well have just given it to Shay. He has been here for ages and he is an inspirational player for us at least. I know it's not ideal to have a goalkeeper as captain as outfield players are better but when you consider our other options ...
-
Our choice of captain has not helped this season ... Ever since his first confrontation with the fans he hasn't been the same since then. He doesn't seem to have been a good choice of captain at all, as he appears to be way too sensitive. Seems he has lost a ton of confidence and doesn't appear to be too upbeat which can't be helping the team in general. Have to be much tougher to be a captain, especially for this team.

I like it too! As long as there's a name and number on it.

Sam Allardyce will be our manager next season. I love your optimism Parky ... I really hope you're right! Was Roeder definitely told that his future wasn't secure after the Man City game? If this is true I think Roeder has a nerve coming out and tlaking about who he is going to sign and stuff, because he has done nothing since that game to show he is deserving of the job! Unless of course he has agreed to remain as Big Sams assistant manager or something ... and is looking at players with SA!
-
I'm losing faith guys. I think Roeder is here till next season and heres why ... He is only on a two year contract and Freddy already feels paranoid about the fact that everyone feels Newcastle always sack their managers so he will feel that he can afford to wait till next summer if need be. I also think Freddy has bought into the idea that major changes are needed in the actual squad of players and a change of manager won't help. This is because three consecutive managers now have been unable to get much out of the current squad of players. I think he also accepts the injury excuse is a valid one and because Roeder has been "patient" with his signings I think Freddy feels he owes him at least one season with more new players. I think there are also plans to bring in a director of football and Freddy feels that this will make Roeder a better manager. I'm pretty certain this is what we have talked to Sven about. As for Allardyce ... it just seems the odds are stacked against him. Turned the job down already The bung inquiry The fact we might still have to pay compensation for his services along with paying off Glenn should he be sacked The fact that when we were eager to appoint Roeder Sam was publically against it. Right now I think Roeder will be in charge next season. I am just going to hope that he brings in players he knows very well and therefore players he will be able to use more effectively. I do think Roeder has problems getting through to players but it is always different when the players are people you have brough to the club yourself so hopefully that works for him. I am going to be positive from now on and back whoever is in charge or else I might do myself an injury. I can't stand all the uncertainty. Just hope we at the very least get the man some hel[ with a decent DOF. Sigh ...

Is "choise" the plural of choice ... or something?
-
I love that kid! He looked great in his brief premiership cameo when Arsenal had a lot of injuries at right-back. Surprised no one in the premiership went for him on loan. A bit small ... but full of energy and pretty dynamic.

Whosat? A young player who plays for Borussia MGladbach, i have not seen much from him but heard good things about him from others, and from what i have seen he's a player for now and the duture, might be hard to attract, but worth a shot. He´s quite tall also if i remember it correctly Well we all thought Bramble was one for the duture, and look what happened when we spent big bucks on him... But if we have the money. Why not. Probably better than what we have. Okay guys ... what's up with the whole duture thing?
-
I really hope the highlighted bit is bullshit but I wouldn't be surprised. You can't accept a resignation and then try for compensation after the fact. "He has two and a half years left on his contract. We have a compromise agreement in place that covers his resignation from this job." Allardyce has tried to engineer his release from that clause and, if he is successful, will be particularly attractive to Newcastle. Looks like they can!
-
Does anyone like the Bardsley kid from Man u? Maybe we could nick in ahead of Villa to get a young developing right back.
-
Sylvain Distin is the in the top 4 centre halves outside the top 4 of the premiership. In the premiership. IMO. If that makes sense. (The other 3 are King, Yobo and Campbell, what order you wanna put em in is meh) Woodgate? Ben Haim?

From NUFC.com ... Glenn under threat? Bill Bradshaw, writing in the Express, Wednesday: Sam Allardyce is being lined up to take on one of the biggest challenges in football - to turn Newcastle United from being nearly men to trophy winners. Allardyce quit as Bolton boss last week but his spell out of work could be brief with middle-men working on his options for a return this summer. Newcastle, after a nondescript season punctuated by injury problems, are believed to be interested again in Allardyce. One source close to the club told me: "The Geordies would love Big Sam's belligerent style and no-nonsense approach. "That would go down well here so it's watch this space." Newcastle were close to appointing him three years ago after Sir Bobby Robson's exit but the bid was aborted when it came clear Bolton had a £2million compensation clause protecting their boss. Bolton chairman Phil Gartside suggested on Monday the had provisions to extend their protection, even after Allardyce's resignation. "He's going to turn up somewhere," said Gartside. "He has two and a half years left on his contract. We have a compromise agreement in place that covers his resignation from this job." Allardyce has tried to engineer his release from that clause and, if he is successful, will be particularly attractive to Newcastle. All interesting stuff and perhaps significant that no denial has forthcoming from SJP so far - unlike other recent tabloid tales that were swiftly rubbished.

I dont think they will , I also think Chelsea's Avram Grant will want to bring him in. But I would put Benny H well above Distin on my shopping list. Another key point is that Ben Haim would be straight into our first team. He doesn't strike me as someone who would go to Chelsea to sit on the bench. As long as Carvalho and Terry are fit he won't be playing at all, especially as he isn't that versatile.
-
Is distin over 30? No! Does he have a big CV? No! Is Distin younger than 26? No! You have to wonder about Roeder if this is true. A tad worrying ... Although I wouldn't be adverse to Disitn, it doesn't match up with what Roeder has been saying. Maybe he has been attempting to throw a smokescreen.
-
In January maybe ... but considering how things have gone this season and with a whole summer in front of them they will end up going for a big name defender like they always do. You can be sure about that!
-
How would Campbell be on a free, when he's got a year left on his contract? Distin and Hyypia seem good shouts for the two CB positions, then we need a New LB & New RB You would have Distin over Ben Haim? Event hough Ben Haim is a better player and is five years younger and is also a better defender??? Ben Haim and Hyypia. Simple as that. I should be managing NUFC ... we would have the best defence in the league.
