The owners have been very consistent in their ability not to rush a single decision. They were slow on sacking Bruce, slow on appointing Howe, slow on appointing a CEO, refused to be bent over a barrel on Ashworth and they weren't exactly speedy gonzales when signing players in January.

However, there decisions have been excellent so far and will be during this transfer window.

Exactly. The one time they were rushed was due to Wilson's injury, and we ended up with Chris Wood for £25 million ... so comfortable with them taking their time!

Doesn't seem like we had much of a plan for attacking players other than Ekitike and are now a bit stumped with how to proceed. Hope I'm wrong.

Worried that Howe rates Wood and one or both of Almiron and Murphy and doesn't see it as a major concern.

Just imagine all of the scouts and recruitment staff sitting there with the manager and the owners with all their hands on their heads dumbfounded about what to do next, now we missed out on one player ;D

West Ham getting that Scamacca for 30 million seems pretty cheap, we where linked earlier in the window, quite surprised we haven’t gone in for him.

Think that rumour is bogus tbh.

PSG are apparently still interested, but just need to move some players on first, and they've been quoted 50 million Euros apparently.

Think Sassuolo will be looking to move him to PSG for as much as possible at some point.

My interest in football is pretty surface-level these days - if it's not NUFC or Fantasy Football related then I'm not the obsessive I once was. Ashley wore me down.

Fwiw I also liked the look of McNeill a year or two back but there is no excuse for his recent stats. We already have enough 'attackers' who chip in with almost zero goals / assists.

    Fair play

Mike Ashley finished a lot of people off man, so I get it.

Yeah, he had a tough year last season, but I think he just needs a change of scenery. Just needs to make sure he picks a club that uses the ball better.

Anyone bought Ronaldo yet? Martial is clearly the next Henry.

I have noticed how good he has been looking under the new manager in pre-season.

Would have loved it if we had nicked him off you when he opted for Sevilla instead. Can see him bouncing back in a big way this season.

We need another winger alongside ASM. If he is sold and if we replace him with someone who is hopefully as influential for us as he is we're still going to have Fraser, Almiron or Murphy on the other side. And Wood up front when Wilson inevitably gets injured.

We are already looking for a winger on the other side ... if we sell ASM (which we won't), we will then be looking for two wingers. One for each side. As well as continuing to look for the additional striker we are after.

In fairness, not much yet but all the targets they’ve been linked with carry a big fee and although I’m sure they won’t land them all, I’m sure they’ll get some of them

    We'll see, I'm not convinced.

Congratulations on the new role as Dwight McNeil's agent, @KaKa

The kid can play man, and he'll prove it at some point. I see something in him.

Who do you like that isn't already at a big club, or that everyone else isn't already raving about? Anyone unheralded that you seen anything in?

That was like me for a couple of years watching Almiron. All that chasing down players, pacy breaks threatening the opposition, the odd wonder goal to reel me back in when the doubts started to surface. Then I looked at what his actual output was as one of our hallowed three forwards, and the penny finally dropped that he's just a powder puff try-hard.

I never watched Almiron out wide for us and saw any of that

Almiron doesn't even take players on, which is the minimum requirement for a winger, at least sometimes. He's never a wide man. He's clearly a number 10 or nothing at all.

Just walked through town before and you could feel the transfer anxiety really setting in, everyone on edge. Panic stations just around the corner.

Apparently they were shocking v Rangers. A looked half arsed and Rice apparently threw his captains armband in a huff

Yeah, saw the highlights from the game, and they were getting opened up regularly.

I’ve always liked McNeil; seemingly great attitude, works hard, presses well and a wand of left foot. At one point I thought he’d be the next big thing but… he’s just never kicked on for whatever reason. Last season in particular he was truly awful; reminded me a lot of some our wingers, all graft but little quality.

Despite his poor season, I think there’s a very good player there, just not for us. We need someone who can guarantee goals from the right wing.

Think there's only so far you can develop as an attacking player in that Burnley team.

He's actually young enough that he could afford to play a year in the Championship under Kompany who is far more progressive.

If Kompany likes him and has a spot in the first team for him, that wouldn't be a bad option either.

I'd be very interested to see McNeil in a better side, personally. However, he's not on Barnes' level.

I don't think he's on Barnes level currently, but I could see him coming along in the same way, and producing at a similar level.

Same amount of goal involvements as Almirón last season. In 38 appearances.

Kaka I think you're the bees knees when it comes to keeping me up-to-date with all things football related, but I reckon McNeil is garbage mate.

Whenever I find myself watching Burnley, I just find myself really liking a lot of his play, and he always stood out from the rest of the team, like he didn't quite fit in with the other players almost. I like his work rate, his dribbling, his awareness of what is going on around him and I think his left foot is really good.

At Burnley he played too deep on the left hand side, due to Burnley playing a very traditional 4-4-2, where the wide men were almost additional full backs, and his remit was to get the ball into the box as quickly as possible from out wide on the left side.

I think in a more typical 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 he pushes up higher out wide, and in a better team, he gets to link up more with other midfielders/attacking midfielders that can also get him in more dangerous positions, which would improve his goals and assists numbers. I also think him playing on the opposite side and cutting in more would be beneficial, rather than playing as a more traditional winger on the left side.

Just my personal thoughts on him. Hope he gets a chance in a better team and I get to see how it turns out.

    Ar fuck off, West Ham.

They have been linked with a lot of nice names, but have not signed any of them.

They've also been a bit ropey so far in pre-season, and some of their fans are concerned.

Said it before when links came out earlier in the year, hard hard pass on McNeil. 4 goals in 120 appearances over the last 3 seasons. He's worse than what we have.

Dwight is just 22 years old and has a ton of invaluable experience from his time at Burnley.

He is going to break out at his next team. Hoping he can get a move to a team like Leicester that plays some decent stuff. Could easily see him comparing to someone like Harvey Barnes in the right situation.
