We need to get players in, and people are trying to shift some of the capable ones out. My God man

Jonjo has already made few great passes, I don't mind having him in the squad for a season.
Exactly. Looking a very solid back up option to Bruno.
No idea why some people are bitching about him. What on Earth they are watching?

There is literally no point in Shelvey.

Yet people are happy to see him in and around the team. Naive as fuck.
Shelvey has been solid, done absolutely nothing wrong for goodness sake.

Anderson with another class touch away from defenders.

Terrible technique Shelvey man, get over the ball.
-
ASM definitely playing with more awareness of his team mates. Very good sign.

Can't get over how trim Shelvey looks.
Lascelles also looks like he's been working with the ball in the off season. Doesn't look as awkward and terrified off it.

Elliott is just as good as most of our attacking players. That much is obvious just from a few touches of the ball.
Gets his head up, and looks like he's an intelligent player, decision making wise.

Interesting that Burn's stayed on the right with Lascelles on.
No he's on the left.

Trippier man ... what was that.

It's interesting that in the information vacuum Waugh and Downie are claiming we're relaxed and taking a pragmatic approach, whereas Edward and Wilson paint a picture of frustration and imply that options are running out.
Speaking of Edwards, I'm fully expecting another click bait exclusive in the next 48 hours. If KI's theory is correct it'll be a positive piece to juxtapose the mood on social media.
Yeah, after seeing how well they came through in Jan, which was a much tougher task, there's no way they are panicking, especially with Ashworth now on board as well.
I think they are looking to wait as long as possible to give themselves as much of a chance to land their primary targets, but will have options lined up to pivot to, if that doesn't work out. Not ideal from a pre-season preparation stand point perhaps, but if it means we ultimately get better players in, then long term it's the right move.

It’s a bit frustrating when it feels like it does now with nothing concrete. But I will just assume they are working hard on a few players that will be a massive improvement. And honestly on RW and ST I don’t think it’s the hardest. But finding players with the mentality and lust that is needed that also wants to join in this transition state probably prolongs the deals, and avoiding the now “Newcastle” tax.
I will keep dreaming about Paqueta in our midfield though .

Great signing for West Ham and Broja. He's really a Moyes type forward - Robust and fast. Could see him do really well there.

Spend how much it takes to keep our promise to Bruno and more He wouldn’t have come here IF we were signing the likes of Dennis and Broja on loan and so on. Not that I have any clue on what he has been promised. I assume it’s more ambition than this. But also, step by step as the man himself has said. We need to do well and show signs of progress relatively quickly or players like Bruno won’t be staying.
I'm sure Bruno would have been told the same as what we have all been told, so folks just need to take a deep breath and chill out.
The man has only just come over in January, and people are already starting to panic that he will be off because we are not showing enough ambition, based on assumptions being made on what players he thinks are good enough and which aren't. My goodness.

Do you think Howe with the pressure of instant results off the table, and more, quality players, will go back to his Bournemouth style?
Bruno, Botman, Schar and Burn are all very good at recycling possession, add in another CM and maybe Newcastle can average about 50% of the ball.
Willock mentioned it's been a point of emphasis from Howe.
QuoteAnd speaking in the aftermath of Newcastle's 3-0 friendly win over 1860 Munich, Willock revealed Howe is demanding his side to become more dominant on the ball, in an effort to control games from the off.
"Next season, we want to be more dominant with the ball and we were practising that building up to the game," Willock told NUFCTV. "I feel like we tried to express that in certain ways but it's a long journey and we're all buying into what the gaffer wants to do. Hopefully, we can show even more on Monday and out in Portugal. We're all buying into what the manager wants to do.
"You saw that at backend of last season and we want to go to the next level now. I feel like there's more expectation of us so we're all trying to buy into what the manager wants to do and hopefully we can get better and better game by game and take it into the season against Nottingham Forest."

Fuck I like it.
make the owners furfill the promises and push them.
we need to keep bruno, trippier and Botman happy the next Windows to match the ambitions they have.
You do realise the owners you are wanting to push and make do things already, were the ones that signed all of the players you mentioned after convincing them to join merely six months ago. Some of you lot really need to calm down.
And by the way ... what promises exactly are you holding them to task over? They've maintained from the start this will be a step by step process, which I'm sure the players they signed are aware of too.
Can already see the entitlement creeping in among some fans man. Damn shame.

How do you set up those possession tables on TransferMarkt, Kaka?
I actually searched for the info in goggle and it took me straight to the page, but it's a bit of a mess figuring out how to do it directly on there.
The info can be found on Whoscored though, and it's much easier to navigate. Below is the link to last season's possession stats.

I don't think Howe cares for tiki-taka possession as such. It's more about the experience and composure to control crucial periods of games and the fitness required for high tempo attacks, fast counters and episodes of aggressive pressing.
True, but the guy that started the thread asked about 50% possession, which is not a tiki-taka style domination of possession.

Yeah I know but your reasons are all based on what ifs and I’m simply basing it on what I saw from pretty much the same group of players last season. I also unfortunately don’t see us signing another CM this summer.
So you basically believe last season's circumstances have nothing to do with it, and the players are just inherently incapable? I would have to disagree.
I saw enough of an improvement just from how awful we were with the ball under Bruce to believe that with even more preparation going into the season, and all the other things I mentioned, that things will improve even further.

Well how many times under him last season did we manage it ? We are currently only one player different to how we ended the season in terms of starting 11 and we didn’t manage it many times at all then.
I know, I gave all the reason's why I could see it improving significantly.
QuoteI think just the by product of a full pre season under Howe, the removal of the threat of relegation, the addition of Botman alongside Schar, and God willing Wilson being more available will all already see our possession improve a fair amount.
Another central midfielder in the mould of a Paqueta, Eriksen, Aouar or Brandt and we'll see even better results as far as that is concerned, yes.

Not with our current team no.
To manage 50% posseession?
Well his last season at Bournemouth they were at 44.1% and the likes of Brighton and Southampton were at around 50%, and so we can definitely do it with the current team.

Also looks like he came back in ridiculously good shape. People just cannot let go of their previous bias when it comes to certain players, no matter what. It's so childish man.
