RB Salzburg are a bit problematic when it comes to their strikers, particularly the more diminutive ones. Their system is a diamond with two upfront that I think is a club system/philosophy or whatever, because it's a lineup they seem committed to. The strikers end up running the channels either side and grow quite accustomed to being in a pair, and so the smaller ones in particular struggle to adjust as a lone striker in bigger leagues, which they usually have to be. And so they end up getting put out wide and having to adjust to that. Adeyemi and Okafor were a great pairing at Salzburg, but have both struggled to make the adjustment to having to play out wide since they left. Konate looks like he might end up in a similar kind of situation.

Zirkzee to Man Utd and Adeyemi to Chelsea are both painful. Two guys I have been rooting for, for a while, mainly because of their Nigerian heritage and vague hopes they may represent the Super Eagles, but I digress. Will be revolting seeing them end up at Man Utd and Chelsea. Terrible stuff.

Chelsea after Adeyemi. How incredibly annoying.

Stop projecting and being insecure.

If you do win this tournament playing the way you have it will be in spite of Southgate IMO. It will only further emphasise the talent you have in the team, which is not being maximised, but finds a way in key moments, and all it would make me wonder is, how good your lot could really be, and how much more you could have won. There's so many international power houses that have been below par for a little while now, which has coincided with you bringing through some real talent, and I think you've unfortunately not capitalised on it, because of who you've had in charge. He's been in charge for 8 years now, and you've come into this tournament with some real talent in hand, and all you do is sit deep, play slow super safe football, hoping Bellingham pops up with something, or perhaps Saka, and if that fails then just go to penalties. And if you now somehow manage to lift the cup despite mostly awful performances, it will be celebrated and may even end up with Southgate staying on! I think that's tragic.

Been linked with Newcastle a fair bit going back a few years now, and so maybe he's one that is in the database. If Trippier leaves maybe he's an option we're considering.
-
He's left footed and plays on the left side and so not sure there's anything to this one. More likely to be the other centre back on the team Oumar Solet, who were linked to a lot last summer. He's in the last year of his deal now too.

They're going to be a fun team to watch with a bunch of exciting young prospects, playing without any pressure to achieve anything I guess. Would be really interesting to understand what their owners goal is as far as eventually being more competitive, and how he plans to achieve that.

Always found the 'we won so nothing else matters' attitude incredibly shit. I'm sorry but if you can't figure out a way to win by playing the game in a way that is compelling, please just piss off. It is particularly unacceptable when you have the talent available to produce far better, and excuses keep being made. Smaller nations that are fighting for their lives and just don't have the same talent level, and battle their way through, will always evoke some level of admiration, and that is a completely different thing. Ironically, we're now actually starting to see these kinds of nations play with far more verve and bravery, and are far more enjoyable to watch. I'm going to remember this tournament mostly because of Georgia, Austria, Turkey and Spain (Spain being the only top team that is really exciting to watch). Back in the day teams that won things were admired largely for the way they went about it too. This dry, dour, fearful, no risk football is the absolute pits.

So unlucky Turkey. Great effort. Congrats Netherlands. Good fight back.

Finally Zirkzee gets a run out. Classy player.

Yeah, Liverpool fans don't seem to think too much of him, but he tends to come up with something when he's out there. It's often mixed in with some awkward moments too, but he often pops up with a decent strike or puts a decent ball in.

Gakpo shows up so often for the Dutch.
-
Not surprised. Seen West Ham links as well. He's got some great attributes and unbelievable commitment.

Yilmaz is getting a move off the back of this tournament.
-
Look at Yilmaz!!!

Guler plays the way everyone was expecting Foden to.
-
This Guler is a terror.
-
Weghorst coming on upfront. Not at all surprised. Memphis was fumbling about up there. Looks like they've dropped him into the number 10 instead.
-
I don't understand why the Netherlands persist with Memphis up top. Think he's been embarrassing this game so far.
-
Yeah, I remember him making some poor decisions in the final third. The work he gets through upfront is unreal though, so wonder if that maybe affects him in those moments. Think he's been fantastic for them.

A lot more dynamic and quicker than Mitro. Absolutely love his energy man. He is a nightmare to play against. Looks like he's actually more of a right winger at club level.
