  1. Going to be an exciting player. Very dynamic dribbler that will cause havoc to defences.

Not going off the two clips I’ve seen when running from one end of the pitch to the other. Never looked fully in control once.

You're trying to convince yourself of this, out of a desperation for things to go wrong this season.

My observations are based on a dispassionate viewing of things. The guy looks a hell of a dangerous player.

The games will start soon enough and we'll see what happens.

  2. Interestingly an immediate reversion to the carr model.

I think Ashley sees the squad as a revenue stream which Rafa wasn't maximising hence being so enthuastic to get shot of him.

Once bitten twice shy clearly doesn't apply to Ashley, 3rd relegation under his watch here we come.

The likes of Almiron, Saint-Maximin and Joelinton are a big step up from the likes of Riviere and Gouffran. They are also more physically capable than the likes of Thauvin and Cabella.

Unfortunately for a lot of people on here, the team is going to be an exciting one to watch, and are likely to do well this season. Best prepare yourselves.

  3. Bruce absolutely hated Hatem, Saint Maximin seems to have half the talent and twice the attitude

Bruce signed Hatem but they did fall out. Hatem went AWOL when Bruce left him out. Ended up getting sent back from his loan didnt he. I remember getting excited that maybe he could have redemption but he couldnt play or something or spoon face had no interest in playing him.

Unfortunately, Hatem was already a broken man by the time he got the loan move, thanks to Pardew. I imagine his general fitness had suffered a lot by then.

  4. Sounds like Joelinton had a really good all around game and showed a variety of skills. Happy for him to get off the mark early.

The pressure continues to build for Miggy unfortunately. Really needs to get one in pre-season before the league games start.

Think Longstaff is going to score a decent amount this season, in this midfield three, as he has more license to get forward and his shot is really fantastic.

  5. Love Kean's talent, but surprised Everton haven't gone for a more experienced striker.

He's only 19 and hasn't even played a full season as a starter.

Hope he does well anyway. I like him.

  6. We do seem to be buying higher quality stock, and so it will be interesting to see if this translates to better team success in spite of the manager.

If it does, even if these players are moved on, it will be for significant profit, and then we will see if the money is actually used to push on. The approach can work, and we'll find out soon enough.

    Jesus christ..

You do realise we’ve lost the highest quality stock manager we’ve ever had & replaced him with the lowest :icon_scratch:

I’m not sure you’re mentally prepared for the reality check next season

I have no idea how it will play out, and I'm not tied to it either way.

I'm certainly not going to set myself up to get wound up, if the players we bring in excel and the team starts doing really well. The league is looking weaker this year, we are bringing in some players that certainly do have some ability that could really translate, and Bruce is arguably better than Pardew for certain, and even the version of McClaren we had.

You could end up very frustrated this season. I'm finished with getting into it that much with the team. I'm just done.

    Yeah. Let's wait and see.

I'm waiting on nothing. By all means go and burn the place down if you lot wish. What do I care.

I'll look on with interest either way. It's really quite simple and a big relief. Really going to just enjoy watching football this season without any major concerns over how Newcastle are doing.

I know it's exciting to be signing what appear to be good quality players, but we are going to have the same problems we did under McClaren. Players aren't being chosen by the manager, they are being signed for resale value. That means there is not likely to be any coherent style, and that is going to be made even worse with Bruce as he doesn't appear to have any strategy anyway.

It's going to be chucking 11 players together and seeing what happens.

You may well be right. I'm not even going to pretend to know for sure what will happen.

Fair enough. I've lost interest in football, only NUFC kept me interested. The game is nothing more than a spectacle for TV these days.

I just think that enough time has passed now, to eliminate the possibility that The fat cunt is  simply  a hungry caterpillar who will turn into a beautiful butterfly on the last page.

I understand your point of view completely.

Personally, I grew up playing the game a ton, and so will always enjoy watching it, purely for what happens on the pitch, and appreciating what different players and teams are capable of. It's always purely been about that for me.

I am genuinely looking forward to getting back to that more and not getting wound up by what is going on with Newcastle, as has so often been the case for a good while now.

Kanji[/member] - That is exactly it. So often recently I haven't even been watching the other games or highlights, because I'm so annoyed at what is happening with Newcastle. It's been so tedious, honestly.

  11. See we're being linked to swedish right-sided defender Emil Krafth from Amiens. Being from sweden myself I've seen him play a few times and think he's a solid defender but doesn't offer much going forward. Can't see him as a wingback, more off a 4-4-2 defender.

Really hope we can do better than him.

Probably an alternative to the more attack minded Yedlin for instances where we may play 4 at the back?

  12. What a set of interviews. My goodness.

Having read all of that and thought about everything that has gone on since MA took over the club, I genuinely do think he is excited about having Steve Bruce of all people, and here's why ... because they are both basic, bargain bucket, kebab eating, beer drinking dudes. MA all along has just wanted a manager that he relates to on this kind of level, and one who will agree to his buying policies in regards to player acquisitions. Nothing more nothing less.

MA does not care to be sold some dream that accomplishes anything that is outside of how he wants to approach bringing in players, regardless of how decorated or experienced the manager selling him these ideas is. He wants someone that will do it his way, and is at the same time someone he can relate to personally. Going out drinking and vomiting as he likes to do.

Look at the managers we've had ...

Allardyce - For MA, definitely the one that got away. Going back he would have never got rid of this guy IMO. Provided of course Fat Sam agreed to the buying policy. They would have loved hanging out together though, no doubt.

Keegan - Way too ambitious and intensely passionate about the heights the club should be at, having had it challenging for the title himself. On a personal level also a disaster. Can only imagine how awkward it was when they were in a room together.

Joe Kinnear - An ideal match for MA on a personal level. Already good drinking mates having met at the pub for goodness sake. Unfortunately for Ashley the man was so outdated and incompetent, not to mention completely mental, that it was never going to work footballing wise.

Alan Shearer - A roll of the dice to galvanise the team and keep them up. Would never have kept him on regardless of that being successful or not. Wouldn't have worked on any level between the two.

Chris Hughton - From MA's point of view too "boring" I would imagine. Hughton was way too dignified, professional, calm and quiet to hang out with MA and the lads.

Alan Pardew - We have to thank the good Lord above everyday that the Palace job came up for this clown, at a time the fans were sick of him. Otherwise he may well still be here. More of a mate of Llambias, and prbably a bit young and "hip" for MA off the pitch, but from MA's point of view still one of the lads and would not contest the way the club was run.

Steve McClaren - Too depressing to be around off the pitch, and his down in the dumps demeanour was likely rubbing off on the players too. Also too posh for Mike and the lads.

Rafa Benitez - Similar to Alan Shearer, another desperate punt to try and keep the club up. In reality MA would never have given him the job otherwise. Too serious about the game, too professional, too foreign to get MA's jokes etc etc.

Think under Bruce we are now going to likely have some of the best young talent we've ever seen come into the club as MA has a manager he seemingly really likes, and so we'll see if that criteria will be good enough to actually achieve anything with these players.

  13. He’s inconsistent and disappears in a fair amount of games.

Then the peasant thing killed it for me. He can fuck off

The peasant things that he said in retaliation to being verbally abused in the street? As far as I'm concerned he's well within his rights to say something back to someone abusing him.

I mean his peasant comment was shite. But I've seen worse, every Saturday night for 30 years. Only nobody deems the average moron as newsworthy (unless they're promoting far-right populism, of course).

Nah, he should be well aware of the club and area. No need, but he’ll not be the first multi-millionaire to say that.

Tells you a lot about how modern day players see the fans

You really think he walks around thinking that fans are peasants?

Do you know where that man's family are from?! He's a council flat kid from a rough area.

The guy was out minding his own business and people started taking the piss out of him (these sorts are the absolute worst and could be called far worse than peasants IMO. Trying to get a rise out of someone successful because they are that envious), so he had a cheeky dig back.

    Come off it.

  14. He would create a ton of space and draw defenders in. Wouldnt be surprised if we just leave that derogatory bid on the table and someone else gets him though.

Yes, we already saw the impact Almiron had in this regard.

Joelinton will also adds some of this ability too now, as he can get on the ball and can take players on with it as well.

If we do get Saint-Maximin, the three of them could cause a lot of problems.
