  1. Allan Saint-Maximin would be a quality addition. More pace and dribbling being introduced to the team would be valuable as it usually is in the premier league, even when the decision making off the back of it isn't the best.

  2. Don't want to turn my nose up at signings right now but I really hope we find an alternative to Saint-Maximin.

Jean-Philippe Mateta is the one I wanted more than Joelinton, Saint-Maximin.

Proper striker reminds me of Demba Ba.

Joelinton will need time to make the striker role his best position.

NUFC were offered Mateta for £8m last summer...

Yeah, heard about that too. Rafa wasn't keen and wouldn't sign off on it, and MA was pissed off apparently.

  3. I explained myself in my sig, so I don't have to keep going over this stuff.

I'm sure it won't be good enough for all of you, but that's fine.

    Same

Man ... I hope you get to see better times man. Sorry.

  5. We've gone from complaining about stringency with signings to now lamenting too much money being spent and contracts being too long. Amazing

  6. Just be reading the Chonics comments about this signing. Fuck me, it’s horrendous. It’s so depressing. Nothing against the lad but hope he’s a flop or is injured straight off. Fucking hate the club, owner bust worse still, the ‘fans’. I’ve sidestepped pals because of this shit. It’s crazy shit. What the fuck are they seeing that a lot don’t see on this forum? I’ll never change my view, the clubs rotten to the core and I now pray it fucks up massively, to the point where the ‘fans’ wake up. Man, fucking shit the lot of them.

It's probably best you don't follow anything to do with the club then. Wow.

Wishing ill (an injury for goodness sake) upon players that have nothing to do with the situation because you feel an ill has been done to you.

Your no better than MA in reality then. Right?

  7. When you say "this summer", do you mean the next 18 days?

Yeah, think things have been in the works, and they were just waiting to get a manager in place so they could pretend he was involved.

Bruce was appointed 6 days ago.

Yes, and 1 has already come in since then.

2 more to follow this week too, allegedly.

  8. When you say "this summer", do you mean the next 18 days?

Yeah, think things have been in the works, and they were just waiting to get a manager in place so they could pretend he was involved.

  9. Think we'll see a few more of this type of signing coming in this summer.

Been a while since we brought in some young talented players that look the part from a physical and athletic standpoint.

Seems a good character so hope he does well for himself.

  10. That's not the theory, the theory is that he sometimes also wants to sign older players for footballing reasons.

Exactly. And also it seemingly can't be any young player either. Has to be one from the club's lists (And this is likely also influenced by contacts they have with certain agents).

Although I'm sure they would have likely been more open to players within the same parameters outside of their list, like Merino was I believe.

  11. so it appears the main split between Rafa and the club can be boiled down to Rafa wanting more control on the incomings while the club appears to want to go for a DOF model (obviously theres probably more but I'd bet this was the main sticking point). Not sure if one model is really better than the other but the main problem with the DOF model for nufc is most other clubs that implement it have a coherent football philosophy in mind they're trying to build over time regardless of who the head coach is while the only philosophy NUFC have is buying players they can sell on for big profits.

It's purely a recruitment issue rather than a footballing philosophy.

The club wants their managers to select players from a list the recruitment team continuously builds over time, which is centred around younger high profile talents that are not necessarily established yet.

Essentially MA is positioning the club as a place these players can join to put themselves on the map so to speak. It seems they had even previously made contacts with agents to facilitate getting these kinds of players.

Most managers will typically want more flexibility and say in getting players not on the recruitment team's list, which is why we've had to go down a division and get Steve Bruce.

This season is going to let us know if the recruitment team and all the contacts are good enough to get us the kind of elite talent that allows any muppet to be in charge of the team.

  12. I just don't see how this will be an appreciating asset when the team is utter dogshit.

Perez was an appreciating asset, he was dirt cheap and Rafa made him brilliant. Longstaff came from nowhere and Rafa made him brilliant.

I guess it could happen, but it seems an absolutely mad way to try and run your team.

They seem to be trying to switch it around with a basic manager and high end talent.

We'll see what transpires. Hell of a risk really. I think ideally, you always aim to have a top manager in place for more consistent success.

Also one big signing can't carry a whole team, we saw this in the Shepherd days when you had Shearer or Owen surrounded by has beens and bargain buys.

You would need to have four or five quality  players coming in to make an impact. It might work unless your manager was a cretin like Pardew or Mcclaren.

It's looking like that's going to be the case.

Well ... potentially quality anyway. Certainly won't be guaranteed finished articles, but seems they'll be well thought of talents.

  13. I just don't see how this will be an appreciating asset when the team is utter dogshit.

  14. The interesting thing here is we may be seeing a slight change in what happened previously with Carr's suggestions for players, where we often seemed to go for his cheapest recommendations. This seems to be a player that would be at the higher end.

If we start shopping at the high end of the recruitment teams list it will be interesting to see how this all pans out.

It could very well be that we get away with having a more rudimentary manager in charge.

  15. Yeah definitely him. Just why on earth would we spend this and not keep Rafa. I hate everything about this club

Baffled me as well. Imagine the excitement had Rafa stayed and then we signed this lad.

    Bunch of morons.

    Rafa didn't want this signing.

They chose these types of signings over Rafa.

This has been the main issue the last few years. It's why signings coming in were such an issue under Rafa.

Rafa didn't want to have to pick players from the recruitment teams list, which had a remit set by MA to younger players with high potential.

  16. Ki is brilliant at playing those short forward passes into the feet of more advanced players, which is such an underrated and often overlooked thing. It was fantastic for the team.

So many players continuously fail to attempt to even play those passes and continuously go sideways and backwards, or they just misplace them time and time again, because approaching the final third those key passes are into tighter areas.

  17. We are all just incredibly angry and frustrated. I don't know how to behave. Deep down I don't want to see Newcastle go down. I don't want to see them lose games or get hammered.

But I know it's pointless having devoting any time, feelings or passion towards it as it's pointless. We just need Ashley gone but I can't see him ever leaving in the PL.

So we are stuck in a bad position. I would like to just be able to watch games on sky and at least hope we do ok but I'm struggling to even be able to do that due to Bruce.

And that's fine. Not sure why that means you have to complain about people that are following the match, and insinuate that it means we are supporting Mike Ashley.

I'll be watching the games, and I'll be talking about the teams. If it's a disaster it will be quite humorous and exactly what Mike Ashley deserves and to be honest I'll quite enjoy it. I am totally indifferent to results and the team success going forward.

Now, in certain games should the team do well, I will be happy more for the players, because I feel bad for them mostly, and I still want to see some of them do well. I will still feel comfortable giving the team credit when they do well. I just don't care about any outcome at this point and none of my money goes into anything to do with Mike Ashley's operations.

  18. I'm in bed I'm not watching that s***

I always browse here with my morning brew it's ritual. That's all. I was hoping to see some comments taking the p*ss out Ashley fc not people talking and planning tactics like it matters. Winning games just makes Ashley richer and keeps him here longer. I can't see how people don't get that at this point.

Stop having expectations of other people man.

Just do what you think is best. Nobody wants to be told what to do by anyone.

This victim complex is really unbecoming man.

It's ridiculous to have people reply to any post about the match insinuating you support Mike Ashley for watching the game and talking about the team setup.

You guys are the victims and you cannot have any accept anyone not being as outraged to the extent you are.

It's ridiculous. if you really didn't care you wouldn't be on the forum. I could argue you're frauds in that respect.

The Geordie nation, Ashley’s perfect customer.

Never bought anything from Mike Ashley or care one jot about him. Just talking about the match.

I find all this behaviour incredibly obnoxious. You're all as bad as Mike Ashley. It's the same pig headed attitude.
