  1. Mitro is better than rondon. What a waste of time.

It's really important to understand Rafa's way of thinking though, check out this quote while he was discussing Ayoze Perez and our strikers ...

“I will be fair with everybody at the top - Gayle, Joselu, Ayoze - everyone that was playing there,” Benitez said of his strikeforce ahead of Monday night’s trip to Everton.

“The fans expect them to score a lot of goals, but our team is a team that has to work hard as a team defending well.

“We were creating more chances than the other teams in the bottom half of the table, but to defend well, to press and play counter attack, for the strikers that isn’t easy.

“Joselu was doing a great job and so were Ayoze and Dwight. People have an opinion about the strikers for the number of goals they score, and that’s not fair [by itself].

“In this case, Ayoze has been great for us the last games, as have the other strikers. They’re all helping the team to win.

“If [Matt] Ritchie scores a goal, or [Jonjo] Shelvey, or Kenedy, then for me that’s not an issue. It’s just to be sure that we score one more than the other team.”

Rondon is an absolute workhorse from the front and unfortunately Mitro is not.

I suspect the striker we bring in will be one that leads from the front defensively.

  2. Spurs always make such great, smart moves.

Grealish is a very talented, young English player, and he will eventually break into that Spurs team and his value will sky rocket.

They'll probably move Eriksson on in a year or two as he continues to attract major interest, and Grealish will step right in.

  3. If Mitrovic has a good world cup, and we are able to add a couple of players that can help improve our possession and attacking play, I definitely feel like Rafa will keep Mitro and give him a chance to lead the line.

  4. He played in like 50 games last season. Can't see it happening

They're looking to add even more attacking players this summer again. He will end up buried on the bench.

He's shown enough to be starting every game and be allowed to truly establish himself as a front man.

We're probably the team most well placed to offer him that in a decent team. Our number 9 spot is wide open.

  5. Feels like Liverpool are really separating themselves from Chelsea and Man Utd now.

Man Utd finished above us comfortably last season. Chelsea have won two of the last four premier leagues. Their players appear to have a switch which they can turn on and win the league.

Way too early to make that statement.

I don't know ... it feels like the game is moving into a really dynamic, attacking era.

I really like the types of players Liverpool are bringing in. They are already the one team that have been able to handle Man City under Pep, quite consistently, and Man City are miles ahead of everyone else, and so that is more what I am basing it on.

Their front three are already pretty outrageous, and now all of a sudden they have upgraded the midfield three significantly, rendering the likes of Ox, Gini, Milner and Henderson as backups or rotational players. That is very very impressive IMO.

Chelsea don't know who their manager is yet, are coming off a really poor season, and really need to upgrade their team. Going forward they only really have Hazard and maybe Willian to be happy about.

As far as Man Utd go ... well, I'm of the opinion that Mourinho is actually going to end up being a disaster. Think there will be a big fall out due to the way their attacking players are being utilised. The expectations of the fans and former players will never match with the type of football Mourinho is producing. It's all the more sickening for them with both Man City and Liverpool playing the way they do.

  6. not a fan of welbeck myself, think we should have a better option

    That's because Welbeck is shite.

    :tobey:

    16 in 38 for England.

  7. They just say Joel Campbell is still at Arsenal?!

Still just 25. Always liked him, not sure why he wasn't used more at Arsenal.

  8. I don't know, I like this balance. No issues with Delph & Henderson when you have two ball playing centre-backs and Jones who likes to bring it out of defence as well. There'll be times where you need one if not both of those to sit and protect. Happiest I've been with our squad since about 2004.

It's not bad at all. Just think it could be even more dynamic going forward.

I think against more robust and better defending teams the lack of build up from the back will show up more.

  9. Exactly, Shelvey would be commanding this whole game. Such a stupid decision to not even have him in the squad.

Taking Henderson and Delph too long to figure out how to get the attacking players the ball. Way too much sideways and backward passes.

Such a shame, would have been so interesting to see what this team would have looked like with Shelvey in there. Oh well.

The more I see of England playing this way the more I see Shelvey being the absolute perfect player for the system.

It's really unfortunate because I really like what Southgate has done with the rest of the team, and with sticking with this formation. He's just overlooked including a central midfielder to get the ball off the centre-backs and set the wing backs and attacking players on their way.

Even if you allow for Shelvey being left out, why Wilshere or even Drinkwater weren't included really is beyond me.

  10. Taking Henderson and Delph too long to figure out how to get the attacking players the ball. Way too much sideways and backward passes.

Such a shame, would have been so interesting to see what this team would have looked like with Shelvey in there. Oh well.

  11. I

what are people's thoughts on phil jones?

    :jones:

I think in this setup he should be okay.

I like that he drives forward at times, as he just did i that last bit of play.
