what a f***ing laughable post. he is on £70k, a wage i doubt no other club will offer, no wonder he wants to stay. we need to get rid of the dross at this club who are burning a hole in the clubs pocket. he has done nothing, absolutley f***ing nothing to justify his wage packet. i f***ing hate the c***. keeping us up in 06-07 didn't justify it? He's been poor since his injury, and you hate him for it Talk about being a hypocrite. You hate Owen and the same can be said about him keeping us up in 07-08, as well as being poor since his injury at City. please correct me if i'm wrong but hadn't he only managed 1 in 8 before his injury at Man City? 29-11-2008 English Premier Middlesbro 0-0 Newcastle 0 06-12-2008 English Premier Newcastle 2-2 Stoke 2 14-12-2008 English Premier Portsmouth 0-3 Newcastle 1 21-12-2008 English Premier Newcastle 2-1 Tottenham 0 26-12-2008 English Premier Wigan 2-1 Newcastle 0 28-12-2008 English Premier Newcastle 1-5 Liverpool 0 10-01-2009 English Premier Newcastle 2-2 West Ham 1 17-01-2009 English Premier Blackburn 3-0 Newcastle 0 4 in 8. you're missing out the games against Hull in the cup there, but fair enough

The difference between Owen and Martins (imo) is that one never fulfilled his job description when here and the other one at least made a good stab of it. Owen was bought as a goal-scorer and didn't do consistently. Seriously, why even bother bringing Owen into the argument, he's fucked us all over and laughing about it. He's gone and I for one would agree with a permanent IP ban for the next person to mention his name on this board after June
-
and you were in the toilets with Otter when Martins scored his 6 goals in 12?
-
You didn't take it in yet you based your entire counter-argument on it? You dont like him, fair enough but saying he was s**** all season is bloody ridiculous and I doubt you even saw the games based on that
-
I didn't avoid anything, if you look at the first post on the page (that you even quoted ) you'll see that I acknowledged he was poor post December
-
You said he was poor ALL season, make up your mind. He clearly wasn't at full-fitness and it was alluded to several times that an operation had been postponed so he could play through the pain barrier
-
so 6 goals in 12 (prior to the injury) is poor? as for the rest of the arguement
-
Yeah we'd have gone down by 2 or 3 points instead You cant really argue that Shearer improved us overall, we looked more solid defensively but never genuinely looked like winning a game, Boro could have easily gone the other way. I'll be glad if Shearer becomes our manager but at the same time we only scored in 2 out of 8 games under Shearer. In 5 of those games a single goal would have won us a point or all 3.

What's that based on? He's said it often enough, he doesn't have to Don't be fooled by empty footballers spiel. His performances and work rate this season will tell you he doesn't give a toss about the club. How do you explain the 1 in 2 goal rate before his injury then? Out of sheer curiosity Didn't Owen have the same goal ratio? Its absolutely stupid to keep Martins. He loves the club? Yeah right, any offer comes in with similar wages and he'll be off as quick as anyone. We'd be paying 70k a week for someone who probably wouldn't even be top scorer in the Championship. Idiotic. Owen finished the season with a league goal ratio inferior to Martins'. Take away Owen's penalty against Blackburn and he actually scored less. Consider the fact that Beyond Decemeber Martins really shouldn't have been playing and it paints a pretty damning picture. A fully-fit Martins would terrorise the championship man, surely even the haters can see that

Why? Solano been quoted today that he want to be a coach here. I think he will do alright. Good on set pieces, technique and other skills. And if he have Spanish speaking players, he will be a help for them. You cant really teach skill, not after the player has hit 18. I saw no evidence of him having the personality to be a coach either

If we're picking old players for coaches then Gary Speed must surely be a better option than Solano
-
Same for me, i ordered a new copy of the entertainers 93-94 season a while back. It arrived the day before Villa away
-
He's less effective than Coloccini? (Bassong i'll give you)
-
I know your point, it'll just sicken me if we buy a striker for £4m+ and keep the likes of Duff (70k pw) with Martins sold to Everton or whoever
-
We bought Colo for 14 million euros. If he's going back to Spain, an asking price of 9 million euros should be enforced
-
Thinking hypothetically, Keeping Martins would not be such a financial disaster considering the amount it'll cost to replace him
-
We shouldn't be thinking that way at all
-
I'd absolutely love to keep him if at all feasable. It's a case of either paying £4M for Beckford or losing the £6M for Martins and paying his £70K a week
-
Ameobi did perform brilliantly for Stoke in the championship
-
You think we should keep him then? unless we're offered £8m plus, absolutely. He's still an big asset and well though of on the continent
-
Part of me saw that coming tbh, he seems to love the club and the area That said, they'll still try to sell him
