I'd disagree, considering the bloke gets abuse on Twitter and match threads are constantly filled with 'fuck off Jonas' type rantings, people seem to have difficulty grasping the differences between a player lacking in ability and a bloke being a massive cunt because the manager has dared pick him. Dude, as stupid as Pardew is there's no way Jonas gets a look in with Remy and Downing in the squad.

Downing would be our best pure winger by far were he to come here. As some have said, he'd replace the Jonas workrate and add creativity. I'd never advocate signing him over someone like Sinclair but he'd make us better. We need a squad with strong competition for places.

I'm not really a fan of Downing at all but if it puts us in a better position than we are now, it's hardly difficult to see why some would be in favour.

It would if we don't get Gomis - and even if we do there's a big 'if' involved. At least we know Bent will do the business with decent service. Just surprised that anyone would hope that one of our targets - a proven PL goalscorer with pace and pedigree - would go to Fulham. Anyway, hopefully we get Gomis and he'll be quality.

Sometimes strikers just play to their own strengths and bypass the necessity to form a cohesive partnership (see Shearer and Ferdinand). Before anyone brings it up, Ba and Cisse didn't work mainly because the service (ie scraps) only suited one of them.

For me, Cisse is easily a 1 in 2 striker in between HBA and Remy with Sissoko just behind. He'll never get dropped unless his leg's hanging off.
