so that means the profitable group isn't one of the four ? seems like those having a go cos they are at the races are those who look for the slightest non-sensical reasons to have a go. due diligence is being carried out, they may well have been told it will not be completed in the next couple of days and i'd imagine if they got an offer they could be informed. the vast majority will be in the hands of seymour pierce. This. The press must think Ashley and Co have never heard of mobile phones and Blackberries. Quick Call, Consortium A wants to pay £100m is that ok? Of Course, get the paperwork over and I'll sign.

4 Groups Looking at books but NOT FFS or the profitable group according to the Ronnie: FOUR mystery bidders for Newcastle United are believed to have signed non-disclosure agreements as Mike Ashley’s slog to sell the much-maligned Magpies continued today. The Chronicle also understands that both the Profitable Group, who expressed their interest through a leakage in the Chronicle last week before entering a similar agreement, and a consortium involving Freddy Shepherd are both yet to provide investment banker Seymour Pierce with proof of funds. And proof of funds is the key to moving forward for the rest of the interested parties as Ashley aims to take the £100m asking price as soon as possible. After a fleeting visit to Tyneside, managing director Derek Llambias returned to London yesterday and isn’t expected back at St James’s Park for another week with the club being run in the capital, mainly through investment bankers Seymour Pierce. And despite reports this morning there will be no closing date for bids, with the sale expected to run on and on until conclusion

Tonights Ronnie reckons Frazier Campbell wants to sign for us - NEWCASTLE United could yet hijack Hull City’s bid to sign England Under-21 ace Fraizer Campbell. Sources in the North West who are close to the talented 21-year-old claim interest from the Magpies earlier this year has turned the young striker’s head. And he is “intrigued” to see how developments unfold at St James’s Park in the next few weeks. Understandably, Manchester United young gun Campbell has delayed a decision about his future until after England Under-21’s European Championship finals bid in Sweden, and told his international team-mates at the team’s hotel he was only focusing right now on helping bring the trophy back to English shores after his side beat Finland 2-1 in Halmstad last night. And while that decision is likely to frustrate Hull manager Phil Brown and his chairman Paul Duffen, it could yet work in United’s favour, because by the time Campbell returns from England duty on June 29, Newcastle could be closer to a takeover with Alan Shearer in charge. Leeds’ transfer-listed Jermaine Beckford is in a similar position, and it could also be argued that Newcastle may be a good career move long-term for the young strikers, despite relegation, with the Magpies one of the bookies’ favourites for promotion as it stands. The North West source told the Chronicle today: “Fraizer has heard that Newcastle United are sniffing around. And he is intrigued to see how things pan out up there. “He is well aware that there is some uncertainty at Newcastle at the moment. But he is waiting to see what the outcome of that is because this is such a crucial move in his career.” Hull are also playing the waiting game and are keen to discover what the £6m-rated youngster wants to do on his return. And City chairman Duffen said: “We have to convince him coming to Hull City is the best thing for his career. “I believe the next step for Fraizer is to be at Hull, where he’ll get a start every week and the opportunity to score goals in the Premier League. That’s what he needs on his CV, in my opinion.” Huddersfield-born Campbell has made just two appearances for Manchester United, but has enjoyed successful loan spells at both Hull, who he helped to promotion via the play-offs in 2008, and at Royal Antwerp, where he scored 21 times in 33 appearances.

This. Why has this "data room" not been opened earlier? Surely it would help the deal move quicker? Because they have set tomorrow as a deadline for interested parties to show they have the money. But like I said why if they are on a computer system do all groups have to view them on the same day. If a group was able to prove they had the money last week why couldn't they see the books straight away and this could continue until the club set the deadline of Wednesday. Probably to keep it fair, no leaked info etc.

Paul Kelmsley? Yep According to Piers Morgan in the Sunday Mail, Ashley paid £3 million for his cameo! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1192798/Piers-Morgan-Unfair-Manchester-United-winger-Ronaldo-knows-dreams-Real-Madrid.html Scroll to the bottom of the page If true that must have been the budget for the film, diabolical

He may have opted out of having his name on the published one, a lot of people do these days to avoid ID theft OK, then if these 5 "North East businessmen" are worth £1 billion between them, why is Parkinson nowhere on the Sunday Times rich list (it goes down as low as £30m)? Here are the 5 richest people in the North East according to the Sunday Times: 144 (232=) Mark Fenwick and family £365m £21m Department stores 178= (270=) The Duke of Northumberland £300m - Land 268= (312=) Alastair and Michael Powell £205m £55m Cabling, Property 309= (397=) Sting £180m £20m Music 388= (525=) Sir Peter Vardy and family £140m £10m Car sales Can you see Fenwick's, the Duke of Northumberland or Sting getting on board??? You only appear on this list should you care to divulge your worth, maybe the guy keeps under the radar

As an out of the blue report on some random we've never heard of, there's pobably more mileage in this than the other stories I would reckon http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/5475/rick.th.jpg

As has been mentioned many times though, this is a consortium with Shepherd as the figurehead. He will be an employee like anyone else and his actions will have to be justified. If they appoint him as Chairman, they may even bring other directors on board who Shepherd is accountable to. Basically it's a group of people who see that he has contacts within the game, and they want to tap in to this and use his "knowledge" of running a football club. If he fucks up royally, he'll be as expendable as anyone else

Normally a tenner does it. Everthing costs a tenner off Smack Heads Aye but we'd need to supply the gun as well. No gun required they'd "tear the very lips off him"

What needs to happen, over and above anything else is Ashley needs to make a statement outlining the absolute TRUTH of the situation. Why won't he appoint Shearer? Why is he happy to leave an asset worth £100m in limbo which could effectively devalue it even further? Are there really several interested parties or is this just another wind-up. Irrespective of what his answers are, at least everyone knows where they stand. Even if the answers he gave made him even more unpopular, or gave the true picture of where we are, at least we could respect him for telling the truth, instead of being a spineless arsehole sending out his cronies to spout more lies and bullshit. Fair enough, we had his "apology" statement after relegation, but everything since has contradicted what he has said.

If Ashley can't sell the club/decides to keep it......
ianovthetoon replied to ianovthetoon's topic in Football
Pretty much how I'd feel about it to be honest, and as someone who likes his footy fix on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon, I'd watch other teams whose results I look out for - Gateshead for instance. -

It is a bit Knee-jerk tastic, but in reality I could see a rise in our local non-league club crowds come August if nothing has changed by then
