This. Why has this "data room" not been opened earlier? Surely it would help the deal move quicker? Because they have set tomorrow as a deadline for interested parties to show they have the money. As has been mentioned many times though, this is a consortium with Shepherd as the figurehead. He will be an employee like anyone else and his actions will have to be justified. If they appoint him as Chairman, they may even bring other directors on board who Shepherd is accountable to. Basically it's a group of people who see that he has contacts within the game, and they want to tap in to this and use his "knowledge" of running a football club. If he fucks up royally, he'll be as expendable as anyone else

What needs to happen, over and above anything else is Ashley needs to make a statement outlining the absolute TRUTH of the situation. Why won't he appoint Shearer? Why is he happy to leave an asset worth £100m in limbo which could effectively devalue it even further? Are there really several interested parties or is this just another wind-up. Irrespective of what his answers are, at least everyone knows where they stand. Even if the answers he gave made him even more unpopular, or gave the true picture of where we are, at least we could respect him for telling the truth, instead of being a spineless arsehole sending out his cronies to spout more lies and bullshit. Fair enough, we had his "apology" statement after relegation, but everything since has contradicted what he has said.

Pretty much how I'd feel about it to be honest, and as someone who likes his footy fix on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon, I'd watch other teams whose results I look out for - Gateshead for instance.
