It will be interesting to see if the next 3 parts to this interview shed any light on the situation. After all, the club have been forthcoming with press releases when they have offered new contracts to players. I reckon Kinnear could have been told he'd potentially get a longer term contract in the summer. It makes little sense to go along with that though if the club has this "5 Year Plan". On the back of that though, however unpopular it would be, someone like Poyet, relatively young and unproven would fit in with this. One possibility would be to bring, say Poyet in as his assistant and Kinnear would happily play along as the mouthpiece whilst the real work is done by Poyet & Co, who would take over in his own right in a season or two. What's certain is any hope of an established top class manager on Premiership Player wages is nothing but a pipedream at the minute. The business model being followed tells you that

Nah Ashley's gonna pick his footballing "brain" in readiness to run the thing himself ala Niall Quinn

Shay Given signs for Manchester City for £5.9m plus add-ons

In all honesty, I really can't see Shay going to Citeh. Could sign a lengthy deal, still win Jack Shit and be no further forward. I believe he genuinely loves this club, the only way I can see him leaving is for a club with genuine aspirations for a title or a cup, and with Hughes, Citeh couldn't even beat Forest ffs. If one of the big 4 comes in, fair enough, he has a chance of some glory, but at Citeh, especially in the time of his career he's in, what's the point? Joining a club of similar stature to us makes no sense. He's a family man, his kids go to school up here and he loves it. The man will only leave for a genuine shot of glory in the 4 years or so he has left at the top, otherwise I reckpn he might just stay put. Better the devil you know........ -
This is the first thread I have started on here, but with the lack of information coming from the club itself, does anyone seriously think that we might be saddled with Clown Kinnear longer than first thought?
-
It has crossed my mind. The lack of communication, the "manager", Barry Ferguson, Leroy Lita!!! On the other side of the argument, 100 Million plus is a huge price to pay to piss a few people off!! We'd be worth a lot less in the championship and I reckon that would make us a more attractive Long Term investment.

Do you need a hand to write your resignation letter?

Plus there's no mention of what type of deal they want to do with Ferguson. If he's out of contract and has indicated that he may move elsewhere, it may be a loan deal. I think any players we buy will be the pick of Wise and his cronies, whilst the loan deals will be JFK type players. If this happens, it's for the best really, as it would suggest that Joe will be sent on his way at the end of the season. JFK doesn't really tie in with Ashley's so called vision of buying young talent and nurturing it, so it would be silliness to let him blow silly amounts of cash on crazy gang type clodders

When he runs Thailand as corruptly as Thaksin and fucks off with all the money we know where he's coming!!!

That was always going to be the case though wasn't it? No decent manager will take the job knowing they'll likely be out as soon as new owners come in. Of more concern to me is this steadily rolling deadline, which leads me to doubt whether we'll be sold at all. The longer this drags on, the more relegation becomes a real possibility. If we're not sold before the end of the January transfer window, I don't think we will be at all. No new owner is going to risk shelling out £250 million for a club that could potentially be in the Championship come next season. This has to be something that Ashley realises too. If takeover talks have indeed stalled, he has to take stock, sit down with all concerned and see what the absolute minimum requirement would be in order to make a damned good attempt at avoiding relegation. If that means throwing shitloads of money at a more capable interim manager then so be it. My own personal feeling is that in order to preserve his investment, Ashley has to ensure that the correct structure is in place to preserve premiership status. This will likely involve taking the club off the market, either backing Kinnear to the hilt in terms of investment, or bringing in someone on a 2 year deal with the promise of a good bit of cash to spend in January, because if he doesn't we'll go down no doubt about it. Just from listening to him, I don't think even Kinnear would stand for Wises's meddling in transfer dealings, so we may even find ourselves in the position come January where the interim manager walks out for the self same reason as Keegan. The only other possibility is that Ashley has hated us from the start, and wants us to go down in total ruin so he can have a laugh with his mates, and isn't too arsed at the prospect of losing a few quid. Because if we go down I could quite easily see him refinance the debt within the club, getting his £100m or so back from that and selling us to some twat for a tenner!!!

Lets hope the players hate the cock eyed dwarf as much as we do. More likely scenario is Wise and Poyet in for us tbh. FFS this time last year they were playing catch up in league one, now they're behind most of the gossip at two of the biggest clubs outside the top four. And what have they achieved - not a fucking thing. As Greavsie used to say "Football's a funny old game"
-
Todays BBC Gossip - Mike Ashley has lined up Kenny Dalglish as the next Newcastle Manager So by that reckoning Ruud Gullit will be back in a job for our inaugral season in the Championship
-
I'm not saying we're too good to go down, but bearing in mind Mike Ashley's already invested the thick end of £230million, he either has buyers in mind, or he's trying to prove a point to us and say look - no one wants to buy the club so it's his way or the high way. Either way he has to protect his investment, and as a championship club we wouldn't be worth 10% of what he has currently paid. I'm sure we'll be fine!
-
Yeah something along the lines of Mike's gonna sell up
-
Venables anyone? He' s available, experienced and if he was offered the post under the premise that any new owners may get rid, he would know the expectations from the start. If I'm honest though I think there may be buyers imminent. Would be very bad business practice if there's not, as leaving hughton in charge could end up with us in the relegation shite, and that would dramatically lower the value of the club, to the point where ashley would be lucky to get half what he paid for the club back, let alone the debt he's paid off. Just can't see what he gains from going public without a buyer in sight
