    Mark Hughes

http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_3045147,00.html Mark Hughes is expected to accept an approach from Newcastle United to become the club's latest manager later this week. Despite Harry Redknapp, the former favourite to succeed Sam Allardyce, endorsing the candidature of Alan Shearer, the Toon are understood to have set their sights on the Blackburn Rovers manager. 'Hughes, 44, has shot to the top of Newcastle's list of possible replacements and it is anticipated that Newcastle's chairman, Chris Mort, will today make an official approach for the Welshman, who is understood to be ready to take the chance of reviving an ailing club,' reports The Daily Telegraph. It was telling that, when questioned over the links with Newcastle following Rovers' 2-1 win over Bolton on Sunday, Hughes refused to rule himself out the running. "In football, you never say never," he told Sky Sports. The Times claims that 'Hughes is eager for a new challenge', while The Mail describes the Welshman as 'feeling he can take Blackburn only so far'. Despite fevered speculation on Sunday that Shearer could return to the north-east as part of a 'dream team' management set-up alongside Kevin Keegan, leaks from St James' Park indicate that owner Mike Ashley and chairman Chris Mort have no intention of appointing the Match of the Day pundit. Shearer is due to return later today from Barbados where he has repeatedly sent text messages to friends declaring that he is "extremely unlikely" to replace Allardyce. Typical Shearer. Even when on a beach he has found a fence to sit on. i love articles like this. no facts or direct quotes from people at Newcastle, just specualtion and runour treated as gospel
  7. just got back from the pub watching the game.. what is the point in Alan Smith? can't pass, can't tackle, can't play in midfield, can't play up front, can't play on the wing, can't defend, can't attack... there is no point to him whatsoever

    Official Statement

they said the same on 5Live. their interest cooled when they found out that he wanted to stay living in thre south and fly i and out of Newcastle
  9. that mean Smith's going to play in midfield again? shite. gonna get fucking hammered
  10. just had a reporter on 5Live say that he's spoken to someone from Newcastle (didn't catch who he said it was) ahout Redknapp. The spokesman admitted that they spoke to Redknapp about the manager vacancy, but that they cooled their interest when Redknapp said that he wanted to remain in the south and fly in and out of Newcastle (presumably by this private jet that's been mentioned). slightly different twist on things
  11. bugger all quotes from Newcastle. the BBC article says that Pompey gave Redknapp til Sunday to decide., he then came out with this statement saying that he wouldn't join Newcastle. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/7180147.stm still no offical word from Newcastle about anything. looks like the media are going over-drive on rumour and speculation as they know sod-all about what is actually happening
  12. they got Jim Smith on 5Live talking about Redknapp. Smith says he's spoken to Redknapp about Newcastle but he won't say what he said or the outcome of the conversation. more vague shite.
  13. gave me a chuckle on a friday afternoon anyway
  14. what's he saying? all talk of Redknapp going to Newcastle is bollox?
  15. Harry - No Newcastle deal http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11660_3038850,00.html Hughes not in Toon running http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11062_3038589,00.html i'm assuming that these have been updated fairly recently
  16. load of fuckin bollox if it is him.
  17. unless jamie gets involved in a car-crash in Italy and fucks his face up like his old man, i doubt that he'll end up looking like Redknapp senior

    Media Twaddle

yeah, i read that. pissed me off on the way into work this morning. the usual regurgitated garbage from a hack who's level of knowledge is based on reading other newspapers and not going around talking to people are getting his own opinion
  19. aye, media just making shite up to get headlines when in reality they ain't got a clue what's going on or who's going to Newcastle
  20. if he is coming to Newcastle then surely it should be the Newcastle management calling the conference to say that he'll be appointed, not Redknapp.
