Yeah, not to mention every other club is also trying to improve and win things. It's not in a vacuum where everyone is stood still and if Newcastle don't move ahead it's because we've fucked up

There are no guarantees though are there. It's nonsense to say "make every correct decision and trophies are a given, and if we don't win a trophy it's because of the wrong decisions". All you can reasonably judge progress on is if we're getting closer to winning things, which given we've been in a final and back in the champions league in the last 2 seasons we clearly are

Surprised we've gone that high - if I was in charge I'd have walked away. Crucially though, the people who actually are in charge know what they're doing so if they think he's worth that and we can afford it then I'm all in. He really impressed me at the Euros, would give us top-class cover at CB and between him, Botman, Hall and Tino basically sort our backline for the next 5+ years. Real statement of ambition too.
  4. Might be overthinking this a bit, but found it really encouraging that not only had Bruno, Joe and Miggy liked the post on Instagram, but Bruno's wife did too - I took from that that he's proper accepted within the group and they're all happy for him to be getting back to playing. I'm probably being soft but made me smile

My hero growing up and a club legend. Can't help but love the guy whatever he's doing.

Took his "goal" very well, only marginally offside too. 6 months of Howe training and I think this could look like a bargain.
  7. So much for him not being able to hit a barn door. Great move and finish, albeit offside
  8. Howe and Tindall looking cool as fuck in their new Adidas gear
  9. I've somehow stumbled upon one with only the match sounds, no comms at all 4-0 also with a very scrappy goal
  10. Rumour has it Lewis Hall fell afoul of the Clique and that's why he didn't play much last year
  11. Fascinated by the idea that people get voted into the leadership group. Fucking commie, Eddie "Lenin" Howe strikes again

Until he's definitely going of course Palace need to publicly welcome back one of their top players from a very successful international tournament. "Reputational damage" FFS
  13. Yeah fair, he did play okay at the WC though when he got cameos. I'm not saying he's definitely going to come good or anything, but just too soon to give up on him completely imo
  14. See no reason to write Kuol off, he's 19 and his progress has been stalled through 2 poor loans. Might be he never makes it in the top leagues but it's way too early to say. If he goes out again it has to be somewhere he'll get a good run of minutes, otherwise keep him training around the club for a year and see how he develops

Know nothing about him, but exciting to be signing a 21-year-old that Howe/Mitchell/Nickson obviously think has potential.

Would be really happy with this, was impressed by Guehi at the Euros, though can't say I watched a lot of him for Palace in the league. Perhaps most important is the message it will send to our rivals and other players we go for - we're here to compete for the best players.

Embarrassing for you to admit publicly that you don't know ball
  18. Fucking loved seeing that pop up on insta. If Tripps goes then he should be made the captain, he embodies the club right now. Last season I'd have had doubts about his ability to keep his passion in check when needed, but after surviving what felt like 6 seasons on 9 yellow cards and avoiding a ban I'm fairly confident he can keep a lid on things

    Joe Willock

He absolutely loves that move. Same against Spurs when we demolished them. A fit and firing Willock is such an asset to this team
  20. https://www.instagram.com/p/C-CpTJuNm9X This midfield when up and running is going to be sick. Proper exciting
  21. Being in the ground for that is probably the best thing that's happened to me at least post-Covid
  22. I think it's more that we're more divided, many have moved to a more optimistic outlook in line with the progress the club are making, others are absolute misery-fiends and can't break the habitual belief built up over the Ashley years that nothing good ever happens
  23. 6-time French champions. So shit that it's come to that
