I just want us to play players in their best positions in a shape the whole team is sure of that doesn't completely undermine our own ability to perform. Lovely passing play that cuts through the opponnents final third is just a pipe dream. Without Santon, I thought Pardew would choose a more sensible corner taker, but no, he had Dummet taking all the corners this time. So we're treated to the site of him running to the top right corner and sprinting to get back to defend as a left back while Debuchy is at a loss as to whether he should chase back and cover his own side or make an allowance for Dummett and go more central. He ran about 2 mile more than he needed to. We had 6 midfielders/attackers whose overall position was as narrow as the centre circle... http://i58.tinypic.com/ax1mwm.jpg .. they all seemed to wander left and right at their own whim...usually left, leaving Cisse as a hopeless cause on the right. Gouffran and Sissoko's average positions will be like that because they swapped wings as much as anything. They didn't seem to swap that much to be honest, for some reason, Sissoko kept wandering off to the left and Gouffran stayed on the left too. I couldn't fathom out why they were both on the same side. Exactly...which I referred to with my "usually left" comment.

Did you read the rest of the post and place that sentence into context. 1. What we do now. 2. what i ask for above 3. the cutting play you emboldened with our cromulentless post. Being stuck at 1 makes 3 a pipe dream until we get through 2.

Goes to show how touchy folk are and how they'll argue with personalities rather than posts. I specifically said it wasn't something I was saying to defend Pardew. I said it was aimed at the club, all areas of management at the club. That we have the potential to kick on, but constantly shoot ourselves in the foot at every level from the dugout upwards.

It's Life of Brian esque watching them squabble on Twitter.. "NO!!! The Romans!!"

I shoulder pressed my nephew. I saw the pic of him in his Toon top and his coke. Did he catch the bug you reckon? His previous games were Hull and Chelsea, so he's well versed in what Newcastle fan puts up with. Exciting game against shit opposition we inexplicably lose and nearly brought him to tears. Battling performance against good opposition we inexplicably win, and now some utter tedium. Surprisingly he seemed to enjoy yesterday more than Chelsea. Think he's following what goes on more. He told me the linesman was flagging offside, which took me aback because in the Hull game he had no idea the teams had switched ends at half time

On average, since 1996 (20 team league) our point total after 27 games is 38.1 points. Our current total for 27 games has only been bettered 6 times in 18 years. I don't raise this to defend Pardew, but to lament the complete lack of enthusiasm within the club about our potential for matching some of the best times a lot of us would remember.

Did you let anyone know this was happening? I've heard nothing about it and that turn out is just ridiculous. MAOC has 4600 followers on Twitter, and they've been keeping people informed. I'm one of their followers but not interested in unfocused protesting. You would think the 4000 who cancelled season tickets would be followers though, and passionate enough to join the protests.

Why would I care whether he's good enough for Ashley? He's not good enough for a club of this stature so he'll get called for it. Because he's the man who will employ the next manager and he's been delighted with Pardew, he views him as the best appointment he's made, hence the 8 year deal. He's going to give the job to someone who he hopes can match Pardew's last 3 years, not surpass them. Yeah I get why Ashley's delighted to employ a lickspittle, but I'm a fan so I don't have to agree with it. The reason I have begrudgingly cautioned against strong opposition in the past is because there is very little that Mike Ashley has done or will ever do that I can put any faith in whatsoever. We could mount massive pressure against each and every one of his managerial appointments we disagree with and see a consistently worsening situation similar to the relegation season where we went through 72 managers in 9 months. We could see a far better manager installed, but then I believe that wouldn't last because anyone with any ambition, morals, skill or pride would be at loggerheads with the owner very soon, as we saw with Keggy. Working for Ashley requires a lick-spittle, yes-man, prick willing to tow the line and not rock the boat. Pardew is perfect there. Of course, the whole fear of rocking the boat too much argument, in case of losing points, loses any credence once even the limited expectations placed on the manager cannot be even partially matched. The stability might suit Fat Mike but unless you are prepared to build on it then it can only go one way and that's down. Even if fans sit silent and swallow the crap being spoon fed to them, the better players won't hang around to tread water and aim for top 10. At some point in the 5 year 10 year plan you have to progress the playing squad and the coaching otherwise you will end up sliding backwards and relegation will threaten once more. Are you looking forward to next season? I've not looked forward to any season in 5 years. Alan Curbishley wouldn't change that.

Where's your damn spine gone? What happened to you to make you so afraid of the unknown? It's not unknown. We have 7 years of evidence showing how ashley works with managers. Good and bad.

Norwich fans have had a Hughton Out campaign running most of the season. https://twitter.com/search?q=%23hughtonout&src=typd NORWICH!

I never thought Pardew was good enough for Newcastle from the day he signed and that's never changed. You're ignoring the details of my viewpoint to paint broad brush strokes. Unfortunately it's not a question of him being good enough for Newcastle, but rather whether he's good enough for Ashley. Just keep shouting "stats" as if that weakens my position though.

I've defended him against daft, unfair criticisms. Like I said though, you won't find any posts where I praise the fucker. You advocated going into the most recent derby, and the one before that, and the one before that with him at the helm because you said he didn't deserve to be sacked. Then you moan when Alan Pardew gets pissed on by them again when anybody with a single ounce of footballing sense knows that is what Alan Pardew does. You'll be back waving his flag next time your stats say you should. Advocating and flying the flag? So quote me. When people have said he's playing hoofball I've pulled them up on the basis we were moving away from hoofball. When people have suggested Ben Arfa should be forgiven by Pardew for any lazy, lacklustre, greedy, ineffective, dangerous performance I've argued against that because it seems to me Pardew has got more end product from that particular player than he's produced for previous managers. I've always been happy to see Pardew replaced by a better manager if Ashley can reverse the trend he's made with making a mistake in every managerial (and backroom and boardroom) appointment he's made. I have little faith in him being able to do that though, so as long as Pardew is winning manager of the month and dragging his team to about the peak of the clubs ambition I'm willing to live with him. Obviously the task of finding a popular replacement becomes easier for Ashley whenever Pardew goes on a downward spiral of defeats that rival the worst runs in the history of the club and we hit proper relegation form. Like he did last christmas as well. Sacking someone like Keegan just as everyone is feeling positive brings the whole club down. Pardew's in no way comparable to Keegan, but there's a similar protocol to follow, whatever the ability of the manager. You sack him when he's bringing everything crashing down so the new man walks into a club where everyone is happy to see him and he has the best possible chance. You don't sack him while we're 5th and half the fans are nonplussed that you've brought in the likes of Gerry Francis as if he could do a better job.

There's no back pedalling involved. I've always said the bloke's a shitehouse. Find the nicest thing I've said about him.... ever. It won't be particularly positive. Wanting my team to win games is taking the moral high ground now? I'm supposed to be the uber fan while others bang on about the greater good of the club as if I don't realise the untold benefits of this hypothetical dream scenario. Talking about the "real world" after that seems strange.
-
What's your problem with that? Apart from the hypothetical nature of it, it suggests a desire for Newcastle fans to lose games. Well it is a hypothetical though so there's no getting apart from it. And your conclusion you've drawn from it is ridiculous. No one wants to lose games (plural), but if the situation was that losing specifically the next game to Villa would see Pardew sacked then I would take that loss as we're safe in the league and I want Pardew out. Skeletor nicely sums up what the question really is. Your inference is flawed. If he's not sacked after we lose to villa (or win or draw) I assume you'll want us to lose the next game...and the one after that until he does go. So it would be plural.
-
Nothing I have said contradicts my "sack the prick" post. Posted this elsewhere today... None of that changes the fact that as a fan i don't want to get beat off fucking Aston Villa at home.
