And Cardiff have been there for the taking tbf. We should be looking to even out our GD here. That would have been winning by four goals. You want the moon on a stick, you. We should have been up by that much by half time.

W5 D1 L2 Probably one loss too many from those games. But not the catastrophe some feared. If you're including league cup games then you're a joke, a complete joke. I was getting wrong off people for leaving them out earlier in the thread It's a fucking joke. Morecambe ffs, good job. Why not stick in a few pre-season friendlies while you're at it. you're spouting off because we have a less than 50% win record in the PL? You're crowing because we hung on for a win against the mighty Cardiff city? You're including Morecambe and Leeds in your list of winnable games? Sorry, I expect better. Crowing? I said we lost one too many from that batch of games. You didn't think Morcambe or Leeds were winnable and should have seen Pardew's job endangered if we'd lost?

Doesn't it concern you we totally lose our shape in the second half and we dropped too deep which created the space for Mutch? I like your optimism but tactically the second half wasn't great from our point of view and it's hardly the first time it's happened under Pardew. Aye, it was nail biting s***. Not sure we particularly "lost" our shape. We basically played with 2 at the back first half People want the moon 0n a stick though, they want attractive attacking football with wing backs bombing forwards and creating chance after chance...but they also want a solid back line of 4 keeping shape and concentration avoiding any gaps leading to mistakes. Bayern Munich can pull that off, but I think it asks a lot of Mike Williamson et al. I'm sorry but a "footballer" playing at the highest level of the English game should be capable with the ball at his feet. FFS some keepers are better with the ball at their feet than Williamson is, this is a big issue and the fact it hasn't improved throughout his time here really points at a lack of quality coaching. And we did have shape in the first half, the shape was very aggressive due to us playing in that manner. We got tight in the first half, we pressed well high up the pitch in the first half we looked like a team in the first half. If the drop off doesn't concern you then I'll leave you in blissful ignorance sir. How do you think Cardiff's performance changed second half in comparison to the first?

People really view things differently in terms of what constitutes sitting back and and what it is to be pinned back. I tend to think it was 20 minutes of the latter with Mutch causing us big problems after we initially came out full of pressing, same as the first half.

I was getting wrong off people for leaving them out earlier in the thread I judge by the League, it's our bread and butter imo. As much as i love a cup run it can skew things like this because you play much weaker opposition at times. Aye. Top Half. That'll do.

  10. Was just about to ask this as I haven't been able to watch the game...... Basically the typical good half and shit half we are used to seeing this season? Apart from the fact we did have chances 2nd half. If Cisse was someone else we might have been more comfortable tbh. We had 3 shots on target second half, they had 2. They had a little more posession and a great deal more urgency about them. We sat a whole lot deeper than we needed to and hoofed it too much. We had came out second half and started it looking as positive as we finished the first half. You have to expect a reaction from the opposition when they've been victim of a beating like they had. Palace did the same at Anfield second half.
  11. It was shit man. They were walking through us at will. Just as well they have championship standard finishers. They had 6 shots second half. So did we.
  12. Now watch the regulars defend a good first half. Cardiff beat Man City. Everton could only take a draw. Spurs a tight one-nil. Surprising they didn't stay laid down for us?
  13. I've had my baby son on my lap for most away games this season (bar villa). I didn't have him with me first half, but he joined me for the second half. Don't worry lads, I've sent the jinx back to his mam now.
  14. I'd love to see Ben Arfa come on and expose some space as Cardiff chase it 2nd half.
  15. You say that as if we have created nothing prior to the goal. Scored from the least likely shot we've had. Yeah we've played well today tbf. And Cardiff have been there for the taking tbf. We should be looking to even out our GD here.

You just noticed this recently ?. We all know he's got few ideas tactically, but I think it would have been unfair to say many changes were out of desperation up until now. The side has been fairly consistent, Ben Arfa & Mbiwa had played all 6 games along with the other 4 ever-presents that start today. Changes were largely based on fitness, strike action etc.

He's looking desperate to me now. I have no problem with Ben Arfa being dropped after 2 poor shows, but Pardew still clearly has no idea whatsoever who he prefers across the whole midfield or to partner Coloccini. Individual mistakes will happen and will be learned form, but only if Pardew has a system in mind which he is going to allow players to grow into. He's chopping and changing in blind hope that something comes off.

    Last Season.. Man City (a) L 4-0 Everton (a) D 2-2 Hull(Reading) (h) L 1-2 Villa (a) W 2-1 West Ham (h) L 0-1 Fulham (h) W 1-0 7 points Suppose if it wasn't sackable then, it won't be now.

Scraping round for crumbs, we have conceded 5 and 6 in recent seasons with second half showings as bad as the first. At least we avoided that level of embarrassment.
  21. Has he not changed the second half round? I forgot he only gets the blame for shit. Never credit for the smallest of positives.
