I think all you can take from it is that Man U fans were more justified in calling for his head. They had Howard Kendall waiting in the wings, a proven manager of high quality and had given Fergie millions to spend on the likes of Hughes, Ince, Pallister, Webb and Wallace. He broke the club record transfer fee twice in that time. EDIT: And that even great managers blame injuries...

Because he did worse than Pardew in season 2. Aye but are you implying anything else, or that the situations are somehow comparable? Bear in mind you are posting on a Newcastle United forum and in the Alan Pardew thread. ...about the drop in points that almost put Pardew in the top 15 for managers who drop points. None of the others are noteworthy because they were all shit managers who went on to do fuck all. The Fergie one is the ONLY noteworthy one in the list.

Do we get paid for using this phrase or something? I've genuinely never heard it used outside this site. http://blog.lib.umn.edu/cspg/electionacademy/images/inigo_montoya.jpeg

http://infostradalive.com/post/50236186401/analyse-this-newcastle-united-on-target-for-one-of In the end we got one more point so fell just shy of the top 15 by dropping 24 in total. The last paragraph on Fergie is noteworthy though. A 30 point decline was worse than Pardew's.

I don't understand that fear. For one, if you're a journo, they're cliche fuelled non events that offer no insight whatsoever. For another, if you're Lawro or his ilk, I doubt they've been to a pressa in a punditing capacity in their lives.

  9. Why on earth would Liverpool accept an offer from us? We won't be paying £15m for anyone. Didn't you make similar statements before we signed Cisse? I had a bet with madras that in the 2011 summer we'd not sign a player for over £8m. He still owes me that pint. We still haven't either I would have thought Dave not being bought that pint was a give away like. If the bet was for Summer 2011, there's been 3 windows since then when we could have spent more.

Not too shoddy, but QPR top half? haha. Anyways...read this yesterday... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/stoke-shouldnt-sack-tony-pulis-1832818 Are there many examples of ex-players, pundits or even journalists ever coming out and saying "xxxxx must go, he's been an utter shambles". Eamon Dunphy is the only one I can picture it from.

It doesn't make a difference whether the fans are moaning or not. It doesn't make any difference to the club, but it makes our lives f***ing miserable. After this week I have to agree with Brett, better batten down the hatches and look forward to next season. It obviously won't be near as bad as this one. That isn't certain tbh because we don't who'll leave or not. It would take something drastic to happen to even be close to as bad as this season. I think we could lose two/three key players and we still won't be hitting 5th bottom again. This season was just a disaster all around. I feel sorry for fans if they are going into next season thinking we are going to be anywhere near as bad. The onus is on Pardew to us give a reason not to be negative. So far its been been lies and scapegoating with little in the way of concrete progress each time. My optimism will only stretch as far as my perception of success (i.e not bottom 5 at the very least) allows it to be. I expect it to be better but ultimately fear it could equally be worse. Each to their own i suppose. I'm on the opposite side of the fence and think this group can move on together and have a strong season. Expect a couple of big names and a couple of fringe players may go but sincerely hope they are replaced with quality. I do feel like Ashley won't hold back like last summer however and dig deep like he did in Jan. A good start to the season is crucial, if we manage that, there is no reason why we can't challenge, 8th-5th places. How much can you expect him to invest on the field? He's pulling £18m out of the club this year to pay back himself the advance he gave the club to cover relegation. I'll be amazed if we spend over £10m, net.

It seems to me the scouting and the first team are 2 almost entirely disparate entities. Carr is tasked with finding good deals, young players that have the potential to add value. Pardew is tasked with fitting those players into his team. I don't think it's ever gone the other way, where Pardew says what he needs and Carr looks for players to fill the gaps. At best, Pardew runs his eye over potential purchases and says whether he's happy with them too. If Carr is going along to the meeting, my view would be that it's not at all to shine a light on Pardew and insist on answers about why his system doesn't incorporate players better. It will be to improve co-ordination between fierst team needs and scouting objectives. Whenever Carr has spoken about Pardew it has only been to offer glowing praise about how he has brought on the players provided to him... http://www.nufcblog.org/2012/04/fatty-man-the-full-graham-carr-talksport-interview-transcribed/#.UZyIs6KvN8E http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2012/06/08/interview-newcastle-united-chief-scout-graham-carr-61634-31138128/#ixzz2U0hKSjZt

Where does this idea that Carr is pulling all the strings at NUFC come from?

Pulis would be a cut above my expectations of Ashley, if he did sack Pardew. Twitter's satirisation of the #PardewOut tonight has been worthy of Private Eye though.

A team might go somewhere and play for a draw from the off. Or they might change tactics later on with a lead in their pocket....or having pulled back to be drawing somewhere tough. Managers don't set a team up one way for 45 minutes then change tactics altogether at half time irrespective of how successful the tactics were first half. Certainly not with the regularity being suggested.

I'm not asking why people think that. I'm asking what motivation there is for Pardew to do it. It's also that opp manages do summat at half time and he doesn't know what happenned or how to respond... Fully agree with that like. Makes much more sense than Pardew doing a tactical 180. Eh, I thought it was because the players shit themselves, is it definitely a combination of those 2 things and not anything Pardew's instructed? The panic comment was directed more at the poorer defenders who choose to start hoofing it as soon as we come under some pressure. It's a combination of dozens of things no doubt. I just don't think Pardew gets them in at nowts each and says "right lads, forget the first half, I want you to sit 20 yards deeper and I never want more than one man in the opposition half" and it's a daft criticism to be pointed at him. Rank incapability, is one thing, but actually instructing the team to stop playing as well as they have been is a silly notion.

I'm not asking why people think that. I'm asking what motivation there is for Pardew to do it. I bet our keeper has wasted more time fiddling around before goal kicks than any other keeper in the league. I await your graphs. WBA have seen more yellow cards for time wasting than any other Premier League side this season.

"No more goals" is fairly damning. I think I saw him shouting that in the Man U game after we'd gone ahead for the third time. Was that not understandable? Unless you're referring to another occasion? EDIT: Or was it Arsenal after we'd drawn level for the third time? Same difference.

Given that he spends more time building up to the first half than he gets in 15 minutes at half time, why do people think Pardew takes such a vastly different approach to the second half of games than he does to the first?
