I suppose I don't know really, but if we'd won the Europa I'm sure I'd have gotten carried along and enjoyed it a lot, but I had thought before that there'd be a tinge of regret if after all this time our first cup was the Europa Conference - a decidedly second rate trophy, abroad where fewer can attend. I think this year with the drop in standard in Europa (changes to format etc), I feel similar about the two of them. The way it did happen was so perfect and I think a much better experience. Now that we've had that first win, I'd want us to win whatever we're in without reserve, collect them all. But think if someone told me we'd definitely win the Europa, or you can gamble on an outside chance at good run in the CL, I'd take the latter. In 2004, however, while disappointed to miss out on the CL, I took it as a major silver lining that we had a shot at winning the UEFA Cup.

Surely it does matter. Yes contact is allowed, I doubt standing on a keeper's hand is permitted. I doubt VAR would allow that if seen.
-
Ian ‘led us to an FA Cup final’ Rush? Tbf Rush had just scored 3 at Leeds - Vardy hit 9 this season. Not that I’m really calling for it.
-
On the other hand, a Vardy goal against the mackems at their place would probably be the best thing I’d ever seen. Bring him home.
-
I don't think you can say the keeper has it under control. But I didn't realise he steps on his hand - I think that would have stopped VAR allowing the goal.
-
I wonder if Villa would consider it worth it if they end up winning the Europa - which they have a great chance of. A few years ago I'd have definitely taken a UEFA/Europa cup over CL qualification - without hesitation. But feel like the trophy has degraded so much, I'm not sure I would now. I'd consider it well below the League Cup these days given the opposition. But then you see Tottenham fans loved it. (Relatedly I'd have been gutted if we won something during Covid. When you wait a long time, might as well wait a bit longer to do it properly)

I don't have a problem with them asking a mackem, I think some could be professional enough to say something interesting. Certainly not him though. He's an actual prick, not just a sunderland fan.

Id maybe add Villa home to that. We’d already won a couple, but that 6 pointer felt like the start of the crucial run that then included Tottenham and ManU away (easy in hindsight but felt like rivals at the time) and the away Arsenal cup win. -
Everton gloating but us just not giving a fuck was a uniquely satisfying feeling

Such a strange experience to do it like that. So poor, maybe we need a break and now they’ve got one. Whatevs, cracking season

Granted we were a pretty shit today but… Had the whiniest prick in front of me today. From the very first minute, never shut his mouth and it was constant complaining. After a while I started to notice, not only did he never join in with chants, but he never once clapped. Nothing. Not before a corner or anything. At about 70mins I blew and said “Do you actually want us to win?! Sound like you’d be gutted if we score.” Tried to super fan me. “I’m a season ticket holder and come here every week and I can say what I want”. ”Aye you can but I’m sick of hearing it,” ”well *I* come here every week. I’ve had a season ticket for 15 years, I can say what I want” (I was in a member resale seat) ”well I come every match too, and I’ve never heard someone whinge so much. I've never even seen you clap.” ”nar you don’t, I’ve not seen you” ”aye I do, I sat there last match, there the match before that, I was on a bus back from Arsenal last Sunday night” Then just didn’t say a word. Not that that shit even matters. Winds me up. His mate was dead nice to me after, so I reckon they’ve been waiting for someone to tell him to shut up —— whew that was longer than i planned tldr- shut up whingers
