Newcastle United 2-1 Manchester City (22/11/25) | post-match from pg. 43

That alleged Donoruma foul shouldn't even be getting discussed, what a waste of time I couldn't even figure out what they were on about. Handball claim is similarly ridiculous. The Schär one fair enough is worthy of discussion - I never know what the rule is with those. No ball and clip the man seems to be a pen, but it's completely inconsequential and when the ball is gone on it's way out like that, they seem to be left - would seem silly but can see the claim there. -

Time before last time we beat Man City in league it was Michael Owen’s first home goal for us… edit: hasty edit -
He’s a funny one is Barnes, never know what to make of him . Got to be playing though.
-
Absolutely, we’re obvs not in a great position but we’re in distance of things changing in a few matches. We can do it.
-
What really matters is our UJ coefficient is up to -4 Updated Tottenham +5 (no change) ManU +1 (down 3) Chelsea -1 (improved by 3) Villa -1 (improved by 2) Us -4 (improved by 2)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9VPFFiGZeY Seems that link doesn't work in UK (I'm currently abroad) - his highlights for Deportivo, but if you can see the comments : What a player he was so underrated. I miss super depor with luque, djalminha, valeron, makaay, naybet and fran:( One of my favorite players, I miss him Qué golazos, y qué potencia! mi idolo de la infancia pedazo de jugador

Was there too, prob my fave away game along with two of the mackem ones (one being the one also that season). That put us top of the league for xmas - in the snow. I was 11, wrote an article about it in English class soon after. Got punched in the head by that Beefy when he was celebrating and he gave me his big black and white jester hat thing with bells on. 24 years ago, christ. It's like talking to me when I was a kid then about a game in the 70s.

Remember insisting we had the something like the second best midfield in the league. Luque Parker Emre Nobby Obviously I'd never seen Luque, and was wrong to think he was going to play on left anyway...
-
There's been no away fans allowed for over a decade now cos of trouble. I believe across the whole league, not just Boca.

Went to Boca v Tigre last night at the Bombanero. Was a really great experience, and quite unique for me - both the atmosphere and the distinctness of the ground. I was in standing area behind the goal, very much unsafe standing, with bars only sporadically placed - i wasn't on one. Especially considering it was a fairly low key match (it was the last game of the normal season, they needed a draw to secure top spot, which just means they get to play first playoff at home) the atmosphere was great. I was at the end opposite the ultras but you'd think they were the ultras at most other places - fairly constantly singing but at least at my end it didn't have that over-choreographed feel discussed in the atmosphere thread at some European grounds. There was no ring leader, and the intensity ebbed and flowed - it really picked up at 0-0 in the second half, and seemed to translate to the pitch. Class seeing all the kids clinging to the fence all game, tied their jackets to save their spot at half time. One peculiar thing is every one sits down in one quick swoop right on the HT whistle to try and get their arse some space on the little steps. Having said all that about the atmosphere, they're quite bizzarely - given their intensity the rest of the time - chilled out when they score. I was ready to go flying given my precarious spot, but I reckon there was a less of a reaction than at most PL games. I had to pay quite silly money to get in (though a bargain compared to prices for the Boca River match last weekend) but highly recommend. Not sure I can slag off fans selling tickets to tourists on livefootballtickets for a bit though

I can’t see any shots of Big Joe in it saving that kit, it’s horrible. The only thing that could turn it around would be massive success on the pitch.
