  1. Christ, it's Terence Trent D'arby. Come on lad, when they hand you that contract, sign your name . . . . Milli Vanilli mate.
  2. Sadly we can't 'afford' Shawcross. He's streets ahead of Caulker, mind. He's 4 years ahead of him in experience. I think Caulker is a better footballer but Shawcross probably the better defender. However I expect Caulker to improve with age and experience in the next few years.

  4. The 90 side wasn't good mate. They got to the final on the back of their reserve keeper Goicachea coming in after injury to the first choice, Pumpido if I recall, and him being a bit of a penalty saving specialist. Fair enough - I was only seven at the time, so my footballing knowledge wasn't great. This was more based on what I had read. We all knew that the winner of the West Germany vs England semi were massive favourites to win the lot. Might never be that close again. Incidentally Gascoigne in that 90 World Cup was as good as anyone I've seen in a World Cup, Maradona 86 aside.

  6. What Maradona did at Napoli will never be matched. Complete myth that Maradona carried Napoli, they had a great team. Same with the Argentinean team - it was a good team when Maradona was playing. He did carry them in 86 to be fair. Their 78 side was a better one than the 86 and 90.
  7. Agree with this completely. Far too much weight is placed on the World Cup, when so many other factors are relevant. Agree somewhat here too. George Best is clearly in the top 10 players of all time despite never appearing at a finals.
  8. To me there's no question about him being up there with those names (without never really seeing them play). Regardless of his WC showings so far and in the future. If you had seen them play, you would know what I mean....I stick by my view. I agree. I would have him on Cruyff's level mind. But not as high as the two others . It's hardly criticism of Messi to say he's not quite as good as the best and second best of all time though.
  9. He still has another try to emulate Maradona and his 86 campaign. This year he managed to at least get Maradona and his 90 campaign emulated. Very similar in comparison they are too. Both not at their best yet still somehow managing to carry Argentina to a final defeat against the Germans.
  10. In the four years between 1982 and 1986, Maradona played 125 games for his clubs, Messi has played 211 since the last WC. Of those games, 7 of Maradona's were in European competition, Messi has played 43. For goals in that period, it's 68 for Maradona and 227 for Messi. Good advice for any future player wanting to be called the "best ever", just really turn it on at a World Cup instead of knackering yourself out by becoming the leading goalscorer for one of the world's greatest clubs. Of course in them days, the European Cup was a knockout with less games plus Maradona got butchered by Goicochea, the Butcher of Bilbao between those dates.
  11. Every major confederation have their championship between now and EURO 2016 in less than two years time. Fantastic for people like me who prefer it to the club game. Fair. Cease fire. FIRST PLACE!! Halcyon days, think the Copa could be brilliant. 4 genuine candidates to win it and only 2 weaklinks in Jamaica (shame they didn't Costa Rica) and Bolivia taking part. Wonder who'll screen that?
  12. From what i've seen he was like an artist. The expressive way he played the game is very different to Messi. Plus, he won the Euros - no? And his philosophy he carried on from that Total Football thing to other clubs has been very important. Also seems he cares as much about the way the game is played as the result. He's not seen in that Maradona bracket either tbf. He won the European Cup with Ajax but Holland have only won one major, 1988 European Championships, way after Cruyff.
  13. Wags would be pronounced Vags in Germany. And who doesn't like a Vag.
  14. Patronising cunts with the guard of honour.

  16. Second best Lionel after Richie. Just scrapes Blair.
  17. Nothing there to disagree with. Not just the past decade mind. Time we got off this We won the war and one Bomber Harris shit and note what they actually do and maybe learn from them. Fuck off. TWO WORLD WARS AND ONE WORLD CUP 111!!!11!!! 'One World Cup And Two World Wars' is how the song goes, like. It isn't. Sima had it spot on.
  18. Germany is West Germany with East Germany added. East Germany actually beat West Germany in the 74 World Cup.
  19. f***ing UGH It's so stupid even for Stifler, man. West Germany is Germany FFS. Two different countries technically. What a bore Lawrensonesque. He's got them mixed up with West Ham, who indeed did win the 66 World Cup.

  21. He did. Man of the match by a country mile.
