Pre Sky, he was the commentator for ITV in the North West and therefore commentated on many games involving said clubs. Woking fan, it says here. I know he wrote a book about the history of Arsenal, though, so I guess he likes them a bit. Didn't realise he's 67 now. Or that he comes from Chester. Apparently I haven't delved into his history much until tonight. Can remember him commentating on England games for ITV in the 80s too. Generally away games when Brian Moore wouldn't travel iirc.

I agree with that too .

Likewise for Ronaldo's dribbling and pace. Shearer had pace before his injuries too. Yes Ronaldo was a better player but Shearer's hold up play was better than Ronaldo's. I see where HTT is coming from.
-
The cross Shearer put in for Sir Les in the 5-0 was something I don't think you'd see Ronaldo do.

Been dome to death like but better ALL ROUND CF thats it, not a better footballer just a better CF thats all. I actually agree with this.

One of the TWICE they did it, they deliberatly delayed kick off so they would know the score, thats "sanctimonious" ? Thats filthy tricks to me. If I remember right, it was Jimmy Hill behind it too. Now "sanctimoniious" could be applied to him. BUT - what if it had been done to our lot ? Sure they could have "won more games" And if Coventry had played the game by the rules, maybe they would have went down. Now they're whining because of the antics of their owners. And it was the "antics of their owners" which kept them UP and sent the makems DOWN way back then. They delayed a kick off by 20 minutes. Had Sunderland won at Everton it would've been irrelevant. Yeah but when they found out that Sunderland got beat, Cov and Bristol passed the ball to each other for the final 15 - 20 minutes, both teams making no effort to win the game. Shocking. I know, I was there.

I remember Barry being an excellent central defender, why did he become a midfielder?
-
No, no it isnt that at all. When he was part of a midfield that was being ran past time and again by the Germany midfield, it really should be part of his game. And if he had the pace to help stop that kind of onslaught, then he could be considered an International class player. Eh? When was Carrick a part of the midfield against Germany? Seems I'm mixing up my Carrick's and Barry's...call it a senior moment.

Cleverly is mega average really. Never should be an International footballer in a million years. Shows how shit this England era is. And Carrick whilst a good player, lacks pace. As was shown in the last World Cup.

Actually they will be playing in League 1 this season.

no, think that rent term was over a year. hedge funds are hedge funds - you know what your getting into when you deal with these people - The Football League should hang their heads in shame allowing the club to be taken over by SISU in the first place and then for them to actually go into admin and then for SISU to effectively become the administrators themselves. shocking. And then become effective owner again.
-
It's not just SISU who are the villains here. Whoever signed the tenancy contract on behalf of Coventry City Football Club wants shooting too. It's rumoured to be one million £ per month and any alcohol or food profits sold during a match go to the owners and not the club.
-
Coventry City Council are the majority owners of the stadium.
-
Cov were purchased by a hedge fund sponsor called SISU some 6 years ago. Despite only in reality owning some player's contracts. The training ground belonged to a Charity and the Ricoh, joint owned by the same Charity and Coventry City Council. Over the next 6 years SISU have provided minimal, if any, investment into the team, and the breakeven figure of 23,000 fans in the ground was only breached twice. Both for cup-ties, one vs Chelsea and the other the Northern Final of the JPT last season. The debt just grew and grew until last season, after having stopped paying the rent on the Ricoh for months, SISU appointed their own administrator to put the club into administration. There were on the face of it some good offers for the club. One, an American businessman, Preston Haskell, had even agreed to buy the stadium from the owners. The SISU appointed administrator though selected Otrium Entertainments as the preferred bidder. Otrium, incidentally is owned by SISU. This surely is illegal, but the Football League have happily allowed this to continue. They owe the Stadium owners millions of pounds, and despite being offered rent free football at the stadium, are taking Coventry City to play their home games at Northampton for the next 3 seasons, whilst they supposedly build a new stadium in the Coventry area.
-
It's actually astonishing that what the owners of Coventry have done and seemingly got away with it.
-
It isn't as straightforward, what the owner's have done is put part of the football club into liquidation. Coventry City per se haven't gone under.

Tell you something, Lawrenson was a fabulous player.
-
Agree. No difference between it or the Van Bommel one in the World Cup final where Manchester United superfan Howard Webb didn't send him off. De Jong billy My mistake.
