  1. Best British/Irish central defenders I've seen . McGrath, Walker, Hansen, Lawrenson, Butcher and Adams.
  2. Agree with that. Woodgate possibly had more talent than all but Rio and Ledley but his body and his attitude let him down. Take injuries away from the equation, Woodgate is superior to all, imho of course. As it is I go Sol- Rio - Woodgate - Terry - King.

No apostrophe needed there mate Good evening marra, I trust the 0-3 scoreline has assisted in maintaining absurd levels of hubris in Funkytown - perhaps your beloved club may even attain that top six finish which has proved so elusive since the cinematic release of 'Rebel Without A Cause'. I wonder if loveable Craig has deigned to mention in his book that he once kicked a young female student in the face? With regard to the Wearside collective, let's not forget that Peter Reid was showered with abuse and warm lager despite leading SAFC to their highest league finish for over 40 years, or those witty chants of 'He's nearly dead' in relation to Bobby Robson. A lot of them will deny it now but it's the truth. I don't think anyone pretends Peter Reid wasn't abused at the end, in fact I know nobody does. There was a thread discussing it just last week on RTG. He's never made out to be some sort of old sweet, grandfather/demi-God of our club either. He's pretty much roundly thought of as a bloke who gave us our best times in decades (not hard LOL) by being half decent but who essentially did so with a lot of luck/flukes. His incompetence in certain areas then dismantled it all. He was then turned on after a 17th placed finish. This is not really the case with NUFC fans who never ever seem to acknowledge that they hounded Robson out of SJP, it wasn't a mavericks decision by Shepherd and co. He was spat on in the late 80s as well for not picking Keegan. I can't remember the "He's nearly dead" chants about SBR at the SOL but I do remember the ones about him wetting himself and spending Saturday's, er, doing something. Joined in as well I did at the time . Football fans in distasteful shocker. It's not really a big shock. The key is, that it's admitted in theses instance (SAFC-Reid and SAFC-Robson), it isn't admitted on the Newcastle-Robson issue, he's made out as a universally liked, neigh, loved and worshipped hero on Tyneside and that this was always the case. Aside from the general feeling the club supposedly, have always had for the bloke being overegged, his actual success seems to be exaggerated by the same people, he is talked about as if he was hugely successful rather than moderately so. Smacks of trying to get good PR for the "geordie nashun" on the back of SBRs incredibly good name (which he has on merit may I add, top bloke). EDIT: This sounds like I'm having a go at Robson. I am not, I think he was a brilliant manager and a brilliant person. Great ambassador for the North East too. I am just trying to point out that it is rarely publicised and almost never admitted by the perpetrators that he was abused by some NUFC fans at the end. Whereas I think most SAFC fans would admit Reid was hounded out (probably rightly tbf, unlike Robson) and that distasteful songs were sung about SBR at the SOL while he was NUFC manager (par for the course tbf) Bottom Line: It's the lack of admittance that at one time or another you (individuals/collective) didn't treat the bloke how he deserved to be treated. PR Reasons? It works tbf, this issue is never brought up in the media when they talk about him in a Newcastle-fans-opinion context. Oh look, you baited me and got a bite HAHAHAHAHA Not one to be pedantic but we didn't hound out Sir Bobby, there were rumblings of discontent sure but not hounding out level and it wasn't late 80s when he was spat on. More 82/83 time.

Wonder where he gets that from?

Shearer; Gascoigne, Beardsley, Brendan Foster, Harmison, Spedding, Collingwood, Chris Tomlinson without really thinking.

The North East just doesn't seem to produce good sportsmen across the board. I think it's partially a problem with mentality. Historically it does.

I would like us to go for Ashley Young, Ashley Cole and Ashley Westwood. It is great to see us with the Ashes.

Well to say I'm pleased us an understatement . Just wish we could have started to recruit somewhat sooner.

  10. The best way of describing muscle slowing you down would be to point to Frank Bruno.
  11. See I could compare Woody but Ledley King. ......nah.
  12. Agree 100%. Best English centre half since Des Walker and Terry Butcher.
  13. Probably go and support the team who is top.
  14. They were the away club. They weren't responsible for organizing the con, but DID go along with it. Everton too - they agreed to playing a game after season finished, their players wanting to avoid injury for their holidays and went through motions in a 1-3 defeat at Coventry AGAIN Coventry's dirty tricks led to changing rules. Thats all they ever did. Nothing constructive, just dirty tricks to assist themselves Bollocks utter bollocks. Everton had their season extended , as Coventry had, one, because of postponed fixtures and two, Everton also had reached the FA Cup final and also the Cup Winners Cup final. As a result, other clubs had to wait and see - they wouldn't allow it now BECAUSE of what happened then. Coventry AGAIN pulling strokes. Why was the game postponed in the first place ? I have no memory of ins or outs, but I recall there being fury about it because Coventry pulled one stroke after another to delay the game. Much like Middlesboro' chairman Gibson did against us years later - no snow, etc but got the game postponed because of they made no attempt to clear snow from stands or car park, they had injury problems, and the cheats prospered. The game was played when WE had injury problems, if I recall. But Coventry's strokes gave them an unfair advantage. Didn't they play the game a couple of WEEKS after end of season ? How the hell is THAT "bollocks" ? It was scheduled to be played Cup Final day; Everton couldn't as they were in it . They then scheduled to play it the folliwing Wednesday, Everton were indisposed playing the Cup Winners Cup final so they played on the following Sunday. Coventry didnt pull any strokes regarding the weather. One of the games that was postponed through snow was away from home, at Stoke . And this followed the worst season for postponements since 1963. I even went to the Everton game. And it was 4-1 not 3 as you ERRONEOUSLY stated earlier.

Doesn't matter. He's in Scotland. Which is where Fergie started, remember. And a shit load of the best managers over the years. And Graeme Souness

  17. Justin Edinburgh, what a shit footballer he was.
  18. Top post. Couldn't agree more. The sentiment is fine. However, the company who own Coventry, have earmarked a site to build a £32 million stadium. Is that the move of a company that has no money to pay off current debts?
  19. Yeah, he should ask Nicky Butt for some tutelage.

He's said it so many times previously, I'm surprised anyone still doubts it. I was being facetious mate.

Are we certain lovely Alan actually said this.
  23. I'll never forget Tommy Hutchison and Gerry Gow, later team mates at Citeh, sitting in the centre circle, as if they were at a picnic, chatting casually to each other...whilst the game was in progress.
