Probably pretty much correct, and what TRon says about his motivation changing is also near the mark IMO. When he arrived he probably had great hopes, but it went wrong so drastically and quickly that he's now going for much more modest aims. That said, I don't think you can conclude that he "only wants to keep us in the premier league". I think it's more likely that he wants us to be competitive and make progress, but now that has to be within certain financial limits. Which will obviously make it harder. He;s a competitor and a gambler, I don't think he will be specifically aiming for low mediocrity. And the profit in the transfer market is pretty irrelevant unless reported alongside the wider profit and loss for the whole club over a number of years. Not sure why Edwards feels the need to include it, wilfully ignoring the bigger picture really.

This is the biggest load of crap any of you will read today. I thought it was pretty near the mark. The Shola hatred is over the top from some quarters. He's not good enough to start but he has scored important goals for us in the past. As a back up option he is ok imo. It's pretty much spot on. Similar levels of striker include people like James Beattie and Cameron Jerome, who don't have obvious weaknesses and look more capable, but never give defences the problems that Shola does.

I doubt it, and we can hardly pay Enrique double what everyone else is on, but I see what you mean.

I just like the lad, football is a boring game if there's no room for sentiment. He's not a great player, but he can be hard to defend against and he's not as bad as some people say.

See oldtype + the thousands of Newcastle supporters in countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia etc. Yeah, I just didn't know if we were that big out there.

Would love to think that the idea of Loven on the wing was that Pards then said to Ashley, "You see this fucking shit I have to work with? Top 10? You're having a laugh. Come on Michael, don't make me come banging on your door..." Or something like that. I imagine the setup at SJP a bit like a Kung Fu film, rooms within rooms. Leon Best knocks down the outer door to Pards' office, then he has to knock down the inner door to Llambias's domain, then the ultimate inner room is Ashley's lair.

I just can't dislike the guy, the season review DVD last season has many great Shoments. Couldn't bring myself to be annoyed if we gave him a new deal.
