  1. What the hell? Is that based on anything?
  2. Hopefully nothing in it, doesn't make sense for us at all. That said, if anyone is capable of buying a player we don't need while ignoring positions we're light in it's NUFC.
  3. 12,000 people turning up today is evidence, if ever it were needed, that NUFC as a fanbase will never be able to stand up collectively, say 'no more' and boycott games to get rid of this lot. Too many people simply don't have the willpower to avoid going to the game, and I include myself in that. and thank god for that. You might think it's worth us plummeting down the table on the off chance Ashley would sell up but I think I''ll take things as they are if that's your alternative. How did you get any of that from what he said? Organised boycotts would make Newcastle football club a pretty unhappy place IMO, not just for fans but players and staff as well. If Ashley's investing too little now, he wouldn't put anything at all in if customers stopped turning up. I just think things could go downhill very quickly. The club appears to be a black hole of misery at present, both on and off the pitch. If we don't sign some good first team players and also lose our first 2 games it'll be even worse than now and that'll be nothing to do with the fans not going to matches. I've read it all now.
  4. Marvs is on the bench, sure he'll play some part. Maybe he's just being eased in, don't think it's a massive deal.
  5. TBF, that's normally the situation on all sides.
  6. Everyone should read that ESPN piece and digest it fully. Spot on.
  7. I sense a few are saying that because you had your hopes set on N'Zogbia, and Obertan doesn't appear to be as good as him. He's another body in and for all anyone knows, he could flourish a bit more if he's given more of a chance than he was at Man Utd, which he surely would be. People are free to air their opinions about him as a player but you'd think you were buying an inanimate object if you look at some of the comments on here. Come off it man Neil - it's the fact that we seemed to have money to spend this summer which we could have used to progress, and we've signed cheapies and non-entities. Even Everton shelled out on a few fees after getting the Rooney money. It's not what I was getting at, though. My opinion is that negatives have been overblown and positives swept under the carpet. I can see that this will have been an incredibly frustrating summer. Would I be raging about where this Carroll money has gone? Yes, of course I would. Would I be p*ssed off about what's going on with Barton, Enrique, Nolan etc? Of course. Has it been a Summer From Hell? Well, I'm not fully qualified to say but from what I've seen, no. I really think people have swept the signings of Marveaux, Ba, Ben Arfa and Cabaye under the carpet somewhat. You have Gosling coming back who barely played last year (if at all?) and it looks like he's beefed the f*** up, so he could really develop this year. Now you look like signing someone who yes, hasn't hit it off at Man Utd, but also hasn't been given that much of a chance. After a troublesome few days, news comes that you're signing someone who could bolster your midfield and offer some pace on the wing and who knows, with some faith placed in him, could start to really establish himself in this league. Instead, it's "he's s***". That is what I find bamboozling. Before someone says this, no, I'm not sticking up for Ashley. I am however sticking up for some of the very good business you've done so far this summer which has escaped the limelight due to the Enrique/Barton etc shenanigans. Potentially disruptive? I would certainly imagine so. f***ing s***? I don't agree. Some fucking reason, so refreshing. Not dancing on the rooftops. Not overly emotionally charged negatice bollocks. Just some fucking reason. Awesome.
  8. I was going to say that but I thought I'd get slammed. Well said.
  9. Can't see him and the mekon both arriving, sadly.
  10. As far as I know, oui. Thought so. Didn't understand all the striker talk... It's because people can't wait for us to sign a shit striker so they can be depressed. That or they just like to ridicule every signing, I dunno.
  11. On the couple of videos I watched he looks like he has good pace and generally plays with his head up. Not much to go on obviously, but hopefully he's not that much of a headless chicken. And importantly, he's French.
  12. That is probably scarily accurate about how the other lads see wor Joey.
  13. He's replacing Barnetta as far as I'm concerned. I hope he does well but we've had enough pacey headless chickens down the years to know by now that it rarely works. Saying players are replacing people we haven't signed is taking logic to a whole other place like.
  14. Nee idea what this lad's like TBH. If he's gangly and awkward as owt he should link up well with Shola and Sammy.

I can't really agree or disagree based on any evidence TBH, but as someone who is quite naive I would say go for it! The problem is that we have a lot of strikers, even though we don't have many good ones. At this point he's probably behind Ba, Shola, Loven and Best, so I can't see how that could change unless he was like Messi in training (or how Shola must presumably be).
  16. If only it was that easy though. As smudger proves, you can't just offer a player a fat contract and expect them to be easy to move on whenever it suits the club.
  17. I'm assuming he's gone to the best/only place he can do whatever he needs. I doubt we just picked an African country out of a hat. The original situation is a farce though.
