Well they can't spend the £35m now, so a slightly pointless argument.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Bingo! Well yes that has to be assumed before you can judge whether it was a good deal for us or not. If Ashley uses the money to fund our losses or reduce his loan or in some way we end up pissing it up against a wall, then there isn't any real debate on the value of the deal is there? I wouldn't say funding our losses or paying off debts is the same as 'pissing it up against a wall'. But I get what you're saying. Pissing it up against a wall as in spending poorly on the squad. So all 3 possibilities end up with the squad being no stronger. Yeah I know, all I meant was that covering our losses and paying off our debts is a valid way to spend money. It doesn't make the team better, obviously. I can't see that being a widely held view tbh. Neither can I mate! Obviously there's a balance to be struck between doing well on the pitch and building the future of the club. That's the art of running a football club, not many people get it right. -

I doubt Bendtner would agree to the wage reduction necessary to come here. Not even sure Wenger wants to sell him TBH.

All decent numbers, no?
-
Aye, Carroll and Shola are ahead of him in the pecking order IMO.
-
Do you only watch Arsenal games against the top 4?

I think it's more likely that he'll be a runaway success for Liverpool TBH. Doesn't mean he was worth £35m, but I don't think we should kid ourselves he won't be brilliant for them. The only questions marks are his injury and his off-field behaviour. -
I doubt we would be signing anyone with the intention of partnering them with Loverkrands TBH.
-
He's significantly better than Ameobi from what I've seen.
-
It's a good attribute for a striker IMO, you need to be able to forget your mistakes quickly. Disadvantages might be that he would annoy his team mates, and he comes across as a prick in the press.
-
Me too, I would try to look past his unfortunate personality.
-
I always thought Aliadiere looked alright when I saw him at Boro, he seemed to be on a different level than his teammates, or at least of a different style. Not saying we should sign him like, I've no idea what he's like now and he never scored many goals.
-
Capello must have the best job in the universe TBH... especially if he doesn't understand what the tabloids say about him.
-
Assists are fairly meaningless if it only means the final pass though, there could have been a passing move that 6 or 7 players were involved in, all whose contribution is ignored. I agree it's a bit of a worry if a winger has 0 assists, but other than that I take them with a pinch of salt unless I remember the specific incidents.
-
Hopefully this will get the thread back on track:
-
I just hope the Wilshere as a 'holding' midfielder means he will stay deeper to dictate the play, rather than bomb on ala Gerrard. If it means he's our defensive midfielder then Capello has lost his marbles. TBF, the term 'holding' can mean both of those, so we'll see.

Are there two Kints on here?
-
Stopping sugar daddies bankrolling clubs way beyond their means is essential IMO. We're talking about a sport not a business, the playing field should be level for everyone.
-
The balanced team is the key to using Jonas properly IMO, we need to prevent the opposition doubling up on him the whole time. I thought Routledge was good for this, can't understand why he was sent out on loan. I don't think Barton on the right (although he's been good) provides balance to the side.
-
I think he's a fairly decent player at times, but his ego is out of control.
-
I had a feeling this response would be dismissive and patronising, but it was too late... I couldn't stop myself reading it.
-
That's appalling. You can't buy taste, that's for sure.

Viduka's fitness, but without his technique?
