  1. Andy Carroll has given more to the cause in his short time in the first team than Ameobi has in a decade. Hmm, I think that might be bollocks.
  2. Yeah, he definitely looks better than Carroll did at the same point in his career.
  3. I really didn't expect any big signings, January doesn't work like that for clubs in our position. It's just the outgoing that has made it worse than expected.
  4. why exactly would he put in a transfer request if he genuinely didn't want to leave ? I think those are both the same question.
  5. No reason at all, it appears he's a backstabbing traitor at the moment.
  6. It could be 350 million, the amount means nothing if it's not invested in the team. Even if it was invested, it means little. It's not about the money, it's about who Carroll was, what he could have been and what he symbolised for the club. I'm not local, so I can't comment on that. You understand the concept of a lad from a certain area supporting the club all his life and growing up to wear the most famous and revered shirt though? Oh, no doubt. But it wasn't the first thing on my mind. I was only thinking of him as a player. None of that other stuff ever really made a difference to me, tbh. Yeah, I can understand that. To me it's the other stuff that makes it hard to take. If we'd just sold a random young striker with a history of violence and criminal convictions and only half a good season in the Premiership for £35m it might not seem so bad!
  7. He played up front for us this season a few times. Honestly, don't ask, it's better that way. Aye, I'm pretty sure he doesn't want our number nine shirt!

  9. I really don't want to go even though I've bought two tickets.

    Alan Pardew

No manager can stop a club in our position making a sale like this... maybe only Fergie and Wenger and even then they would have to resign.

  12. Of course he is. England too. And Liverpool won't fucking sell him either. They did just sell their best striker TBF. The fee was ridiculous obviously, but you could say the same about Carroll's price. (Sorry, I know this isn't devil's advocate time)
  13. I always thought of Ireland as more of a scorer than a provider.
  14. Routledge is still an NUFC player, so probably not. You must be able to change the number of a player who is out on loan? Not that it matters or I care.
  15. Of course, that's another reason why this is such a shit situation.
  16. If he says that with his own mouth, I'll take back what I'm thinking and saying about him. Until then, he's a grade-A c*** from now on. put yourself in his position....what could they say or do to you that would make you ask for a transfer when thereis a 35mill bid on the table ? They could convince me that it was in the best interests of the club that I leave I suppose, but I would still never actually submit a transfer request to go. They would have literally force me out and be seen in public to be doing it.
  17. Can't argue with that, the fact that he turned down a lifetime of adoration and hero-worship is what makes it even harder to take. Ask Alan Shearer whether wearing the number 9 for NUFC means more than any amount of trophies and any amount of money.

    Ambition

You're absolutely right, that's the madness of selling a player you've generated through your youth system. The whole point of doing it is so you don't have to buy players. Selling the good youngsters defeats the point.

  20. I still think we can do better than 17th, but it will serve us right if we go down. Part of me would actually be smugly satisfied if we did go down, just to show the club what can happen if they fuck around and gamble with our future. I know how mad that sounds, but it's honestly how I feel. Relegation now certainly wouldn't feel as bad as the last one, it would just feel like the inevitable result of our ridiculous actions.

    Alan Pardew

Will he shite - he'll harp on about 'if a player wants to go then a club has no choice...................etc etc'. The company line. PR exercise all over it today. Hope AC is honest about it at his presser. Well AC will tow the line as well won't he? He can hardly arrive at Liverpool for a massive fee and say he didn't really want to go there.
  22. Liverpool also seem to have forgotten that it's actually their defence and midfield which are shite.

Will be interesting to here this one. I don't believe he had anything to do with Carroll's sale, but will he admit that the club sold Carroll out from under him and he accepts that, or will he try and gloss over it?
  24. My Dad's convinced that the injury was drawn out on purpose to protect him so he could be sold. I don't really buy it, but if he plays I'll be (even more) livid.
  25. He'll never be able to go out in the city again, at least not for the next 5-10 years.
