I've missed Chelsea splashing the cash TBH, would like to see him in their team.
-
Unfortunately it would only ever happen in the imagination. It would unstoppable like, you're right.
-
I think Ireland would be coming in to add options and boost numbers in midfield, rather than immediately replace Nolan. To take a gamble like that without easing him in would be crazy.
-
Does the fielding a weakened team rule not apply to the Carling Cup? Just seen Blackpool fined for fielding a weakened team, like Wolves before, and seems insane considering clubs do this in the cups all the time.
-
That's probably the best outcome TBH, try the track for a few years and reconsider if it really is terrible. Spread the cost of changes to the stadium as well.

I think this debacle has brought me more entertainment than Richard Key's and Andy Grey's combined time on Sky Sports TBH. -

He hasn't got a leg to stand on, surely? Offensive comments made in the workplace, and how can Sky be expected to have people on screen who have been so publicly shown to be sexist morons? -
Basically agree with that MJ, there is no good option. I still think Spurs getting it would be a travesty though, there's no way they should be moving away from Tottenham. Not that I know what the solution is.
-
I agree with that, I'm just saying that our objective for this season was to stay up. Considering what happened last time we were in this division, it's a sensible aim. I wouldn't be happy with 17th place now, but I would be even less happy to go down! (It's a bit of a non-argument really, obviously everyone would now be disappointed with 17th).

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Playing long balls to a good striker is bad enough, playing them to a shite one is asking for trouble. -
He is from the Guthrie school of podgy-faced midfielders like.
-
Not really, we've just got promoted and it's essential we establish ourselves.
-
It's only a bizarre soundbite because you've taken it out of context and misinterpreted it.

What he said about staying up to secure money for summer trading, and getting the summer trading right, was very encouraging. Also good hints about Graham Carr and the scouting he's been doing to prepare for the summer. Very sensible stuff in general, I really like how he comes across in interviews. Yes, he might throw out the odd quote that people don't like, but that's just because he's open and answers questions honestly.
-
Would be a really good move IMO. Sensible too. His Twitter: 'The game was against charlton, quite a few first team lads played, score was 4-1 i think, just needed to get another game under my belt, not sure weather ill be in squad, need to go on loan to get some games missed too much already this season so wanna be playing every week ' Said before that I would take a chance on O'Hara if he's available for a decent price or loan. He has energy and drive in midfield, would be a good option for us.

Good opportunity for Sky to do away with pundits all together and just show the stadium as it fills up before the game and empties at half time - the true match-going experience! -
But wouldn't players loaned out be outside of that 25? Yeah, then why have them? Think we might have our wires crossed. What I meant was that clubs could stockpile players because they could still loan out anyone who is in excess of 25 players... and bring them back if they did any good.
-
I've just drowned in salt TBH, basically I would be surprised is Guillem Balague knows anything at all about who we're signing or selling. Websites are such a load of shit for stuff like this... excess bandwidth has a lot to answer for.

Keys 'considering his position', can't see him working for Sky again either TBH. -
I don't think anyone is 'mental' for holding one or other view about Ireland. There's no doubt there is a lot of questions about his signing, but if he comes good it could really help us out, at least until HBA walks the earth again.
-
He's only 24, he does have attacking flair and creativity, something we have nothing of without HBA. I would give him a chance on loan with an option to buy. If he can recapture his best form he would be a quality addition, personal issues notwithstanding.

I'm begiining to come around to this way of thinking. He went to Man City which has a glut of players with little rhyme or reason. Then he gets pushed off to Villa who have been a mess since MON left. Maybe, just maybe, Newcastle is a place with a tight knit squad that he can settle into. Kind of odd to refer to Newcastle as a place of relative stability but there you go... I am too to be honest, maybe as with Ben Arfa we can provide him with a decent dressing room environment to help him back to his best. There's still the 'improve another team's player and send him back' negative, but maybe we can't afford to be that choosy.
-
I'm not turning my nose up, I'm just cautious because of his possible bad character. The one thing we can't afford to do is disrupt the dressing room or the 'group of lads', especially not for a loan signing.
