Surely hundreds of changes were 'allowed to happen' by the true fans in the 60s and 70s, otherwise we would be the same club now as we were then.
-
Nolan is a midfielder, he's just nowhere near good enough to be one in the Premier League. That doesn't mean he's suddenly become some sort of Van Der Vaart-style playmaker.
-
Carroll's position in the team is that he's the only striker we have that's anywhere near Premiership level.
-
Ben Arfa's current role looks wrong to me, he's playing on the left wing but he spends all his time in the centre.

The "We Won't Win Another Game This Season" Fred aka Relegation-o-meter

Indeed, our start is still as good, if not better, than most people expected. And we've signed a couple of good players who Hughton is still working out how to use properly. Let's hope he works it out soon, but I still don't think it's time to panic. -
Carling Cup fourth round - Arsenal (h) Pre-Match Thread

Is £20 not pretty cheap? Can't see tickets ever getting lower than that. -
Even if Nolan does score some goals, basing the decision solely on that is ludicrous. The logic is stupid, who knows how many goals the team might score without Nolan, or with someone else in his position?
-
If Hughton fucks up his career over Kevin Nolan it will be one of the weirdest things I've witnessed in football.
-
I think the vast majority would. But when the choice is £25 on a match ticket or feeding the kids/pay a bill it then becomes no choice at all. Exactly right. Exactly, let the little buggers go hungry.
-
Aye, we're not doing that badly, if Perch hadn'y headed into his own net against Stoke half of the negative posts wouldn't be happening. That said, it's a fact that Nolan is awful and should be replaced by Ben Arfa right now if not sooner.
-
We're just unusually used to having sell-outs every week and not being able to get a ticket for love nor money. In the real world poor quality fare + financial troubles = reduced crowds.
-
I agree as well, also all our other RBs are fucking awful as well... so it's academic really.
-
Righto, let's close down the forum then people. Didn't realised you needed a UEFA licence to express an opinion about your team.

Nae offence Shak, but you should stick to the NFL threads if this is the type of analysis and contribution you bring to the football threads If you like Hughton, then give him chance to prove his judgement, no matter how wild it seems to the armchair supporters on here, is actually beneficial for NUFC. I though the knee-jerk chopping and changing had gone out when we got relegated? Hughton has built his team through consistency and allowing players to grow into the team. I'm not a massive fan of people banging on for change, when it's often for changes sake. In this case it's calling for change because change is desperately needed, Kevin Nolan is holding us back at the moment. He needs to be benched as soon as possible.
-
We don't have two forwards good enough, we just need to drop Nolan and play Ben Arfa off Carroll.
-
Absolutely, the only way to go is this. Hopefully Hughton will see it before too long... the bullet needs to be bitten ASAP.

Keegan vs Ashley and Co case settled - KK awarded 2m

Would be interesting if the tabloids caught someone like Paul Scholes using prostitutes and they decided not to print it because he doesn't court publicity. I imagine they wouldn't. I know Rooney has indulged in self promotion in the past, but it's not as clear-cut as people think. And even if it was, that wouldn't stop him being human and affected by his private life being plastered all over the media. -
Wayne Routledge signs 3 year deal with Swansea
AyeDubbleYoo replied to clintdempsey's topic in Football
Agreed, and him and Jonas are at their best when they're both playing, so the opposition can't load one side in defence. It's a real missed opportunity that we didn't add a central threat (Ben Arfa) to our two wide players (Jonas and Routledge), but sacrificed one of them instead. -
True, but the logic is flawed. You could equally say that if we had won against a team in mid table we would have survived. The only reason why should be trying more for wins against the bottom clubs is that they are easier to get. Otherwise every game is equal IMO.
-
I wouldn't, but I can see why people would... it fits into all the cliches about home record and beating the teams around you. We've shown we can compete with anyone, that's something Hughton can use. We could also easily have beaten Blackpool and drawn with Stoke on another day. We're in a decent position in the table, no need to panic at this point. There are warning signs with selection and subs, but Hughton still has time to correct them.
