  1. I love him because we both share the curse of freakishly long arms.
  2. I thought the same, I said earlier the problem with Villa is that they're a bit one-dimensional. Unlike the top teams they don't have another way to play and still win. We were wise to their strengths and combatted them very well, and they didn't have a way around us.
  3. Looked like he was really enjoying himself last night, great to see. I don't think he gives away any more freekicks than any other target man, Shearer springs to mind. He probably has more difficulty getting away with stuff because of his size.
  4. Funny how some people are so vocal about a tired old debate yet rarely if ever postbin actual match threads Maybe because they're actually at the match. Which prevents them from posting any post-match comments or reveling in a good result how? Because they're at a football stadium being football fans rather than sitting in front of their TVs and computers.
  5. I agree Robster, but sadly players do get targeted. I imagine part of a referees preparation is to be ready for the players they will have to watch and the ones that are likely to get out of line.
  6. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/7684775.stm Play the O'Neill interview on that page, never heard so much bollocks being talked about them being the 'dominant force' etc.
  7. So much better to have Milner against you than on your team.
  8. Looking at the replay I think it was actually a foul by Barton in the first instance, running into Agbonlahor to obstruct him. Then it was handbags by Gabby in throwing Barton to the floor. Freekick probably went the right way, although not sure the ref actually gave it because of the first incident.
  9. I really hope that's not the case. I don't really know if it is, but I'm pretty sure some of the abuse some players have got over the last few years was (even subconsciously) worse because of their race. Don't want to make the thread about that, it's just what I believe.
  10. He's here because he wanted a chance to manage again and this is the best one he could find, no shame in that. Why he's here I don't give an arse about, all I'm seeing is that he's doing a good job so far.
  11. Just the whinging fans that berate the players for every little mistake because they're young/talented/rich/black/foreign (delete as appropriate).
  12. Kinnear is very different to Roeder though, the guy seems tough and with bags of managerial experience nothing should faze him. I bet he's loving working with a few players who actually have talent though
  13. His freekick tonight was class by the way, almost acted like the cultured footballer he thinks he is. Followed it up with a left foot volley as well, must've been feeling good!
  14. That's the positive to take out of the tight premiership so far, the negative is that there'll be no numpties like Derby to prop up the table. Unless you count Spurs of course.
  15. Ok then. I think that's a good description actually!
  16. I'll never feel the same about Keegan now, said it before - it's like when you find out Santa isn't real.
  17. Let's not be as bad as them people, if we're above them come the end of the season we can print the tshirts. Which we will be.
  18. Nonsense, to be honest. Aye, he's not Drogba, but he's always given his all for the club and has got some important goals to boot. Maybe he shouldn't be a premiership starter, but to say he 'represents everything that's wrong' with us is ridiculous. If all our players over the years loved Newcastle like Shola does and sweated for the cause like he did we would be a lot better off.
  19. It was Barton with the first assist. If he didn't get booked so often he'd be a decent fantasy pick now!
  20. I was very surprised at the Villa performance, especially when they went behind they just seemed to lack the fight. Might have been very different if Agbonlahor had stuck that chance away though... It might NOT have been either. I know, that's why I said might. Not trying to be negative, great performance tonight.
  21. Didn't think the Ref was that bad, was a niggly game and quite hard to referee.
  22. I was very surprised at the Villa performance, especially when they went behind they just seemed to lack the fight. Might have been very different if Agbonlahor had stuck that chance away though...
  23. Started a bit shaky but soon got the measure of the Villa attackers. Not quite up with Woodgate as the best toon CB I've seen yet, but his fitness is a lot better.
  24. Word up, awesome to go to bed with a performance like that behind us for once. I remember when this used to happen most weeks, we seem to be on the up again though.
  25. Yeah, definitely short of a RB. I wish Beye was 5 years younger!
