I have to say, if he played for Arsenal and Adebayor played for us, I know which would be being raved about. Doesn't matter anyway like, he's ours!
-
Let's hope people keep quiet about him for as long as possible, we stand a better chance of him staying that way.
-
It doesn't matter if it HAD anything to do with Newcastle before, now it does and it means a lot to most fans. It's just not the same when the lads come out and it isn't playing, you don't get the shiver down the spine. Bring it back, it must happen. Also, it's 79p from iTunes so I can always listen to it myself!
-
All that counseling has gone to good use, wouldn't change the lad now.
-
A bit worried he was wearing a Smith shirt though, does that mean Sam has to play him?!
-
Wait for him to get fit, top player on our hands. Problem solved.
-
Not sure he would come to be back up for a youngster, when he could go to Villa or someone like that and play every week. Maybe he fancies living in London for a bit too, maybe Fulham or even Spurs.
-
Also, you realise the only source is The Sun? Logic is Sven played Owen for England, Owen is a good source of speculation, sells papers - therefore Sven is signing Owen for City! Laughable.
-
No evidence he doesn't want to be here, he scores goals whenever he plays, he's won us a lot of our points this season, we wouldn't replace him with better, he might be over his injuries, fuck off Sven.

Ahh, misread what the OP was on about (even though i've been in this thread before) thought he meant medical for some reason. To be fair it's not 100% clear, I just assumed it was fitness tests as in "Kieron Dyer faces a late fitness test..." :parky:
-
True, but medicals are no doubt much more complex than pre-match fitness tests. I think pre-match tests are still fairly traditional in what they include, and the result is more a matter of opinion than science.
-
I think you're right, just make sure we understand the difference between aggression and intent to hurt the opponent.
-
Yep, I doubt there is a standard test or even a set criteria too pass. I think most simply it's just a case of the medical team watching and monitoring the player while he does various things, and saying whether they think he is fit to play. Also the player's views probably come into it as well, in a lot of cases.

Arsenal 2 - 0 Newcastle (Carling Cup) - 25/09/07

At least it's not Alan Green, we should think ourselves lucky! -
Are we not supposed to comment on how we've done so far then?
-
Fair enough we should look long term and if everything is progressing nicely then great, but it's completely unrealistic to expect fans not to get down about losing a game that seemed a complete banker. If we didn't react to these things we wouldn't have many discussions on here. And I'm all for giving Sam time and space to do things right, it's just that sometimes it seems as if the destination isn't going to be as nice as we thought.
-
To be honest I think it is a reality check, firstly that although we've progressed a lot there is still a lot of work to do. Secondly, the type of managed SA is, he will always go for the grafters and seasoned pros and we will have to accept that we will probably never play attractive football while he is manager... and this negativity will sometimes be found out when we don't nick a goal and end up losing to sides like Derby.
-
Think I've seen some reasonably balanced comments, and some mental obviously. You must admit that getting beat by Derby like we did knocks expectations, right Jon? If we win the next three it will be forgotten, but that's always the case... if we didn't talk about it these boards would be very quiet.
-
It might actually be a positive it it tells Sam that he doesn't always need to put out such a negative side, sometimes we can go out and play attacking football. If we had done that we would have obliterated Derby.
-
Surely Owen is 100% certain with the form he's in? He needs to keep his run going, no sense is leaving him out now just because it's Derby.
-
No, it isn't worth displaying: 1) No one is in the slightest bit bothered 2) Even if we were, can you see us reading back through that mountain of quotes?
-
I bloody hope not, one of the most annoying songs ever!
-
It must return, can't believe when I come back up to SJP next it won't be on. Sad
-
To think how close we came to doing irreparable damage to our relationship with Zog and losing him in the window is pretty scary. Just as well we got rid of Roeder when we did and Sam arrived in time to salvage the situation.
