Sometimes the negativity of our fans is beyond me
AyeDubbleYoo replied to Coxaux's topic in Football
I was just about to create a thread exactly like this, well done sir. We are in a much better position than at any time in the last few years. Yes, we aren't back to challenging at the top, but our club has been taken from terminal decline into hopeful progress. I've not felt better about being a Newcastle fan for a long time, I'm just embarrassed at some of my fellow supporters at the moment. -

Can we all agree now, THIS ISN'T TRUE? -

How does that work then, it would pay out if anyone else leaves their job first? -

I bet Kev's tucked up in bed now to be honest, after all he was up until the early hours having a UFC-style cage fight with Mike Ashley, while Wise, Vetere and Jimenez booed and pelted him with rotten fruit. That sort of thing would take it out of anyone, especially since he needs the energy to through a hissy fit and 'storm out' later today. © The Daily Mail -

What are Ashley and co's intentions? Have they failed so far?
AyeDubbleYoo replied to Decky's topic in Football
I've never seen the big problem with them being 'London based' (boo, hiss), as if being based in London is inherently evil or something. I doubt they're signing many players from North Tyneside, I think they would spend a lot of time away from the city anyway. And as for them not being good at their jobs, I'd say the players we've brought in so far suggest otherwise. It isn't their job to identify Robinho etc, anyone can do that from the comfort of their front room. We're digging deeper to spend more sensibly. -

Where did you get that from? My imagination Ah, I thought so! This whole thread comes from the imagination of a Daily Mail journo anyway, so you're in good company. -

Whatever say he has, nobody really knows. It is easy for the tabloid press to print these conflict stories as we're not used to a recruitment setup like the one we have, where bringing in players is a team effort. They also don't like the fact tahat Newcastle now have a successful English owner and a much more professionally run club. The only thing that is certain is that the players that we ended up with look quality. I'll base my speculation on that for the moment. -

Spunking massive amounts of money on dodgy signings didn't exactly guarantee Europe though did it? Alternatively we could have 'spunked' massive amounts of money on good players? We could have done that in the past as well, but we rarely did. Maybe that suggests it is very difficult to do. -

Does it? Which posters were in the office with Ashley and KK then? I imagine Ashley was off doing something else entirely, having already agreed a budget for the recruitment team to use. -

Maybe there are some players that might have helped us, but since when could we just buy any player that was available? Every other club is trying to do the same you know. We are adding quality and removing dead wood, it won't happen in one season but I can't believe people are anything other than happy with the new regime and the way they have conducted their business. -

OK, this is not going to happen, so what I'm going to say is purely hypothetical. If KK was to walk out now after a row and what he might consider to be a poor window, then I would blame him completely - and he would show himself to be less of a man and manager than I had thought. He would need to put his days of mood swings and inexplicable depressions behind him. That said, I have absolutely no reason to believe this is true. -

Where are these 'widespread' claims then? I can't see them on any respectable sites, so I assume they must be in the tabloids. Everyone who has anything to do with Newcastle needs a good slap with a kipper at the moment. Snap out of it FFS. -

Are you happy with our squad and the way our club is moving?
AyeDubbleYoo replied to Kev's topic in Football
Mate, it's been a while since I heard such bollocks. No replacement for Faye? He was hardly John Terry, we've brought in Coloccini and Bassong who both look good signings. And what are you on about with the £12m for Milner? Just because we didn't go out and buy a player for £12m it's disappeared? It all goes into the same pot, I'm sure money is available for the right players. Don't know why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist, this transfer deadline day drives sane people bonkers. -
He's a superb player, but what's going to happen when City don't get into Europe or win anything again? How long is he going to be happy with living it up in sunny Manchester? I'm very surprised he didn't hold out for the Chelsea move.

Unbelievable that anyone can be ashamed about the current state of our club, especially compared to the shambolic goings-on previously. We are making good progress, yes the squad is a little on the small side but a lot of the shit has been shown the door. The players that have come in (6 by the way, not a small number in one window), look good so far, although very early to judge. What would have happened under the old regime is that the likes of Carr, Babayaro and cronies would still be here, and maybe one big name signing would have come in. The sad thing is some people would have been happier with that. We've got to stop going along with the media shit and this inexplicable pessimism. The only thing I'm ashamed of at the moment is some of my fellow fans. -

AyeDubbleYoo replied to Kev's topic in Football
I'm pleased with our we're moving, the signings have been sensible and in the right areas, if not megastars. The squad is still a little short, but it's not realistic to thing we would have completely rectified that in one window. Just as importantly we have got rid of a lot of shit players. Shame Ameobi and Smith are still around, looks like it will be hard to shift them before their contracts expire. Overall though I'm more confident than ever before about the people in charge, and the signings that they will bring in. We're moving, we just need to be patient. -
That was just from text on 606, can't believe they are actually printing that stuff.

They actually do both have armies, so I wouldn't be so keen...

Man City are making themselves look proper idiots this evening. As if they could take over the club at the 11th hour and then buy up a team of superstars just by throwing 30 million at whoever is in the papers. Madness (if true).
