Miggy’s effort isn’t the kind that qualifies as minimum expectation though, the guy can close down three players on his own. His work rate is exceptional.

Just get to the PL, London and earn loads of money I guess. Not too bad overall.

TBF he's been getting shit for as long as I can remember, there's only been one period where people really got behind him.

It doesn't make sense that club don't wrap their business up earlier, but I suppose you could say that about any deadline in life. You don't have to run right up to it but it's hard to resist doing that.

Don't understand how Chelsea can do what they're doing. Makes it seems like FFP is voluntary.

We've got a great first team and decent options beyond that, but it would be very weird if we go a whole summer without a signing to improve us. I don't see that happening.

I still feel he was unlucky to sign for Rafa to play with Rondon and Perez and ended up spending so much time under Bruce. FWIW I thought in pre-season he was looking to run inside a lot more and get into different areas. Probably will leave anyway, so not worth too much energy on the debate.

It's not really about Miggy being good or bad, it's about his strengths and weaknesses and what people value. We know he's limited as a creator and scorer, but he runs endlessly and works his arse off. That's what managers are looking at, especially managers who need to think of defence (Benitez) or pressing (Howe). He's obviously now not of the level we want to be at, I don't think anyone denies that.

I think our lack of selling is a bit overblown. We had so many people to improve on or shift out, most of which aren't very saleable. Then we also had people like Wilson who entered the form of his career just as he might've been replaced. Personally I don't think we've mismanaged much and our transfer dealings have been excellent. In the specific case of Miggy, he works incredibly hard and he also had an unbelievable period of form. And there are only so many transfer windows per season and so many players you can turn over. Fair enough to argue that we should sell players like Miggy, Wilson and Murphy at the peak of their form... but that would probably cause as many objections as agreements.

Hmm, yes and no. We can't just sell Miggy without confidence we are getting a RW in.

I’m not arguing for increasing the bid, that’s up to the club. I’m just saying Guehi is a class player. Of course everyone would rather buy players cheap before they become sought-after, but I don’t think you can use that logic to say that any signing for big money is a bad idea. Liverpool were desperate for a defender, went out and paid massive money for VDV and won the league.

The closest statistical comparisons are Saliba and Gabriel apparently, so not bad.

Yeah, very strange, guess it's a safety deal to get him and stop him going elsewhere. Unless they have information that ALisson is planning to move on soon.

Think it’s unfortunate if we start thinking Guehi isn’t good just because Parish is talking shite. He’s class, in stats the closet equivalents are Gabriel and Saliba. Of course we shouldn’t pay anything, but he would be a top signing.

Smells like Parish just acting the cant.

Possible we thought that’s why we could get him, in a similar way to getting people like Isak and Gordon in slight career dips.
