we get enough of a squad together i would like the "kids" to go out there and get regular lower league football and then come back and be a more experienced player for it
-
well she is dating ronaldo so ya better start earning millions a year Jon
-
Something tells me the coaching Martins had in his early years was a damnsight better than what Shearer had at Southampton. hey alan learned alot about scrubbing the senior players boots and washing his own kit like it was something he was going to be burried in good training that.
-
at the time we all saw it as a panic buy didnt we? he played well which made it more easy to swallow getting an old squad type player but doesn't mean I would be quick to offer the guy a long term contract. hindisghttastic so who would have scored the goals sib did this year? Someone better you know when he signed right jon boy?

If SA does keep him I recon he will see where his game needs improvement and I hope his general game improves. If he goes I just hope we get someone as good in a similar age bracket.

Once again any money spent on Bent would be generated by the sale of either Owens or Martins as we would need to replace them. Therefore we would not be 'wasting' money as you say. Why do people keep claiming it will hinder our other plans? Why does making this buy mean our defence will be neglected to some? Come on now this isn't rocket science! plus SA has already said he is not going for a trophy signing, so say FFS has given him 20 million to spend why would he want to spend 3/4 on one player when we have a team to build. Iam concerned if both owen and martins both stay we still loose martins in the new year so why not try and take some on the cheap.
-
he wants the best along side him and possibly built the backroom team over the 8+ years at the club, although he didnt pay their wages he did give them a break and they may feel more loyal to him than the club, an as I have said before we do not know what the ins and outs of the contract release and why the chairman said yes, maybe it was all down to the fact SA has been loyal to the club and wanted a change of direction and then the toon job came up and FFS slapped a wad of cash in his lap and said " you will have a big budget spend away" again all speculation but that is all your doing.

been rolled out at the boro as a new age in season ticket technology supposedly will make gate times quicker now I could think of a hundred jokes to do with boro attendances but instead ill just say its a good idea about the cards nice to see we are keeping up with the jones's

Yea he's at the bottom but as someone has said African nations is next season so quite a few players will be leaving for a while. Sidwell will get the chance to win things and to play in the CHL so i can understand why he moved there. you honestly think chelsea want to be playing him in the CL? he will be rolled out with the other high paid bench warmers for the worthington or FA cup against a minow side

seen as im not reading any of this thread sinse its already been locked when it the match due to be in? fancy going to a pre-seasoner already in the mood for the start of the season, darn high paid footballers wanting their summer holidays
-
so to sumarise this thread we have found out that monkeys like to go to the toilet too much.......
-
anal: "having spent the last few weeks expecting sidwell to arrive at st jame's as SA first signing he descided to take the money and run off to chelsea despite the best efforts of the chairman to sign him this is one that got away" sort of writes itself to be honest.

There are 2 transfer windows in the English premiership. The first is the summer transfer window which opens on the 1st of july and closes on the31st of August, while the other is refferred to as the winter break which comes up on the 1st of janurary and ends on the 31st of janurary.

If having the thread as one would it not make sense to have the pages the other way and have the most recent post on page 1 and the least recent as number ......
-
i must admit similar to the owen situation I agree with you, if it isnt meant to be and they want to go let them go then as now is the best time for a while that strikers are available.
-
he assembled his team to lighten the load and make it more into a system rather than a one man reaction. We don't really know what was said between chairman and SA but certainly if we get the best of his old back room staff why shouldn't we? he is used to working along side them daily and while we can feel sorry for bolton we have to think of ourselves. We shouldn't knock SA for his backroom staff we should applaud him.
-
I don't know but heskey has played in this country alot longer than Martins has remember he used to be an england regular (at one time)
-
your cant get into double figures playing on your own for most of the season and be a bad player, will he set the world alight maybe not but I have faith he can keep his place in the side quite comfortably
-
I don't think he will get everyone he wants but having some coaching staff that do something to deserve their pay (something we aint had in a while) would be a welcome sight to me.
-
totally agree with this he ha just become unsettled due to the team always changing, problems with the rat and then having clarkie and terry mac telling you what to do would certainly send me over the edge. Can see him staying and improving on this season, less games and a more consistant striking partner will only help him.
-
Nuff said really. The only player in the last 3 years that Spurs will make a significant loss on. Bought for £4m, will go for £1.5/2m maybe. for those sorts of prices thats the main reason why I can see him staying in the prem signing for a newly promoted team or one of the smaller clubs who think they can get him doing as well in his first two seasons
-
Yup, made this point years ago about Gary Speed. He was our real leader on the pitch, letting him go was a big mistake. an for so cheap too will we never learn. I don't rate parker as captain material but I don't see any player any better that we have and would not like the thought of a new signing instantly been given the arm band. Solano would be the choice for me if I knew he would be around more than a season or two
-
I said i rated him better than what we had and would take him as long as the price was right, but looking at last season his performances have not been good enough hence the reason he was dropped.
-
But then we'd whine about it... be interesting to see who has had the harder run of games in the tornament and what sort of score lines there have been I just hope its in interesting game as the only positive thing i see in liverpool winning is the fact its an english club

baring in mind martins will disappear to the african nations this season we may rely on shola more than some would like Ameobi is still a better option than Mido. shola will always be a good back up and i recon he realises that, if we dont sign any strikers in the summer (can see us signing some unheard of 6ft 5 african player personally) I can see why people are intrested in mido I wouldn't go near him but can see him staying in the prem
