Indeed but it has been the same for probably nearly 5 years now, the most sad about it all is his age..... He's 32 years old and should still be playing CL football but he hasn't been playing at the top level for a very long time. Brazilian players always seem to peak early then drop off. ( Kaka & Adriano to name a couple).

Hearing that he wakes in pain everyday, because of his ankle, makes me feel for the lad. A great deal of athletes and former athletes wake up in pain because of a career-ending/shortening injury sustained. Few of them get £250,000 every month for 6 years after the injury. He's a lucky, lucky boy. Agreed. I'm not saying he should have sympathy, just giving him some credit in that he could easily have retired but he's passing on his experience & knowledge to others and preparing for the future (scouting etc).

Excellent player. Great work rate & determination. Once read that he trained every day even running on Christmas Day & that the Juventus fitness coach used to train every player until they were sick but he could never make Nedved sick. Also not afraid to shoot with either foot which modern players seem terrified to do.

We have a fully fit Ben Arfa now, which we didn't have for more than half a season last season. We have Cisse now that we only had from January onwards. We have Marveaux now who we didn't have at all last season. Almost the same goes for Steven Taylor. Don't think we're weaker even compared to with other clubs. Think the only side that really did have a great transfer window was Chelsea. Outrageous statement that like, nearly every club looks stronger particularly the sides chasing us - Liverpool, Swansea, Fulham and Everton. Swansea and Fulham surely won't be chasing a top 4 finish - which is Pardew's target. Agree about Everton. No chance with Liverpool though, they'll need another 2 months or so to get their acts together. Dalglish chased a top four finish, doesn't mean they were in the race for it Pardew could just equally "target top four" but never be in the race for it. We'll be lucky to get top 6 again this season with 4 competitions to play in. A few bad injuries or suspensions to key players could ruin out season.
