  1. credit to hughton. think he's been very calm. no big statements or promises - just results. propbably sat down with mike and del and explained in a reasonable and assured manner what was needed and they have responded. i think hughton has been measured and realistic about his targets and been well aware of the finacial constraints he is working under and responded well.
  2. nolan or smith - save 60k a week and get in 3-4m or so
  3. they travelled up from london midweek, knowing about going into administration, not being able to play their star player and only 3 subs - their support was far from s***
  4. yup did well second half vs palace, better in the air than taylor, and some pace

yeah,he's poor. was dying to shout at him that he cost us a place at the euro's - but was very busy in the soft play area.
  6. The 500 odd people chanting his name while he was in the reception area probably helped too. He looked really uncomfortable, but happy. I love him like no man should love another. think i would have fainted if i was there!

saw scott carson with his family at the penrith center parcs this summer. got chatting to his dad and he said scott had just turned down a move to the toon. preferred to stay at WBA as nice "family club" - the way he said it it sounded as if carson didnt want the pressure at such a high profile club.
  8. must have been a real boost hearing nearly 40000 singing his name when he came off. really has become a big fans favourite not just for his ability but also his attitude. seems a right canny lad. can't for him to get a goal - will eclipse the reaction Ranger got.
  9. disagree about pancrate - had a decent game out of position at RB. won some headers, not the greatest tackler made a nuisamnce of himself and started the move for Ranger's goal. carroll got about a fair bit as did guthrie. Loven lively but should have scored. Nile should have buried his header. Kadar improved as the game went on. Colo and Williamson did well. Jonas' performance dropped after jose went off (to a great reaction from the crowd). but Nolan and Smith......abysmal. Hughton had to make unexpected changes and made the right ones. not the best performance but we could have had a couple more easily.
  10. Yeah, I can see where you're coming from. I mean, just look at that Anelka, eh? Craig bellamy also, sometimes these players just need to find the right club the right "club" - never more apt than for bellamy

was always funny seeing them 2 in tall trees. "little and large". mind, you could see emmerson from miles with all the "soul-glo" in his perm!
  12. pancate must be wearing the new "i've had a shitter" pants instead of the old vest.
  13. use to love the nets at portman rd - think they had white trim/lining along the base. just veery distinctive and cool
  14. from FMTTM: Typical Boro fan reaction, any player that snubs us or moves on isn't good enough for us Don't kid yourselves, he would of made us better. You lot are deluded if you think he's not good enough for us, we are XXXXXXing awful. It's all ok though because we have loads of local youngsters and Steve Gibson who deserves blind faith. Newsflash: Newcastle are going up, we are not and we won't be for a long time
  15. and it was reported strachan nearly had him all signed up!!!
  16. anyone still waiting for the wind-up. still can't beleive. a proper glamour signing - championship level that is!
  17. confidance in hughton has increased a little - i was beginning to wonder if he realised we had real deficiancies in our midfield
  18. just felt a shiver down my spine. get in. not a world beater but much better than we have. great solid signing. well done to hughton and dare i say it - to dirty dell and the board. was getting abit down but really buzzing for the maytch tomorrow. little things, eh?
  19. the other thing that worries me is that the refs at this level will go looking for him just to make a name for themselves
  20. we really needed him at the end of last season. along with shearer coming in, barton's return was almost like one last big push to stay up. however unfortunate he was to get that red at anfield, he shouldnt have put himself in that position. still some faith in him to come good for us at this level - smith and nolan have ( admittedly not lately though), and joey's better than them.
  21. McSheffrey on loan from birmingham? only seen him a couple of times but seemed decent championshipd standard forward
  22. hughton has fallen for the old school thinking that a defensive midfielder is essential. he'll always play butt or smith. the likes of venison, rob lee, bracewell, speed and even batty were so much more yet could still help out at the back when required.
